Thank you for the comments. Loved Scriabin since college, this work is very impressive. Would love to see score during the performance. D. alexandr D'Maddalena
I absolutely love this composition! Gives me a very strange feeling I've never had before. It's fear but at the same time I have tears in my eyes from such beauty. At 5:42 I feel like screaming or grasping for something...and when it all ends I feel like my soul was reborn.
Truly and amazing composer...but I wonder...does he have any compositions that are more mellow and melodic or is everything just sheer chaos and destruction?
@Sunchild333 Check out his etude in C sharp minor opus 2 No 1. Pure beauty written at just 15 years old. There are many good etudes in Op 8 , specifically Nos. 5, 11, and of course the 12th in D sharp minor. His early works are quite Romantic.
Well, Scriabin was always a romantic I believe. In fact you can say that a part of the early modernism was an extension of romanticism (especially music by composers like Richard Strauss, Gustav Mahler, Alexander Scriabin, early Schoenberg etc.).This piece among other late Scriabin pieces is a maximalist manifestation of one of the biggest romantic ideals: transcendalism, to reach a higher level with music.
If you think THIS composer is wild or especially off-the-beaten-path, just check the outstanding modern orchestal I've just discovered. His name is Havergal Brian. If you've got a service like Spotify, all you have to do is type him name in the bar and his work will be listed. This man work will definitely blow your mind
Excellent piece Wolfofthesevern. You have his strange mix of melody and tonality with chaotic atonal bombast, and Wagnerian heroism about to be dashed by WWI. Did you have access to Scriabin's notebooks on the plan for Mysterium?
This is Universe, the part where most of the Scriabin lines are, and in the correct sense, Nemtin has a hard work in order of set the original pages up, then work over the blanks, and make sure that it follows Scriabin's indications along the sketches...
What led Nemtin to complete the other two parts was the fact that there was still more material unused, and also the Prefatory Action itself in words, pointing the way of composing, which forces Nemtin to understand how Scriabin correlated it with the music in Universe (He always wrote the ideas in words first), so that way he finally could enter into the completing/composing of the other two movements and the final reallocation of the remaining Scriabin pages...
also, technically, he didn't have synaesthesia. Stravinsky did, but not Scriabin. He did invent the coloured notes tho, that much is true, evidenced by the fact that he often argued with his contemporaries about what colours corresponded to different notes. He was a musical genius all the same.
@Tentfire um, is not the sydney opera house and it's not photoshop it's in india the baha'i lotus temple. and everything in the internet is not necessarily fake and gay. a few people like to play with people's mind. everything is possible.
@atomv3 normally i'm the one saying that to people. apologies for the misunderstanding but it was meant to be lighthearted. The two buildings are geometrically and architecturally similar. Not arguing that point mind... let no mentions of hitler, scientology or captain kirk enter this debate. apologies for the offence if you're a bahai believer.
Its a compressed version of the original which is about 45 mins long - I just took the opening, several interesting moments that varied, and the coda to make it.
it's wonderful. i love it! the music of course but also your text and images. but when your text said that scirabin "suffered" from synesthesia i giggled like purple. it's a wonderful asset, not neccessarily a disease.
Another interesting fact with the clip. The buidings in the clip are Bahai Temples. Mainly is the Bahai Temple of India (that in lotus form). Another Bahai Temple shown is that of Panama. There are 5 Bahai Temples on 5 continents, made under the directions of the founder of Bahai religion. He also told that the meaning of these temples will be revealed when the mankind will attain the level to understand it.. Until that they are Mysteries. :)
i read in ouspensky's book 'in search of the miraculous..in which g says how music can break down walls...and maybe this guy realised it,...it might sound crazy but i do believe it can happen.....
I got both recordings of this amazing piece. Outstanding job of posting a 43 minute masterpiece a editing it down to 9:33 with awesome dialouge, pictures, and mixing the music without it sounding like a rude cut to get to the ending. My thanks and respects to you!
You're right - Scriabin had only got around to sketching ideas for the prefatory act which is itself the next stage on from "Prometheus" so even Nemtin didn't really know what Scriabin would have created in the Mysterium itself, and "Mankind" and "Transfiguration" are only lengthy perorations on Scriabin's last piano pieces. Possibly Scriabin would have created new sounds beyond what he had already done... so fascinating to consider! It's Kirill Kondrashin with the Moscow Philharmonic.
I think it should be noted that Scriabin's sketches, and consequently this realization, were only for the 'Prefatory Act', a sort of prelude to expose humans to this kind of music and prepare them for the Mysterium.
By the way, is this the Ashkenazy recording or is it another one? I plan on purchasing the piece, and I want to make sure I get the best one.
Beware JOHN WILLAMES not take it for a new Harry Potter SoundTrack...ajajajajajaj much influences...

Scriabin makes me hungry to feel rooted in the earth again. After Scriabin I always have to play Kodaly or Villa Lobos to get my health back.

You take Spielberg's 'Close Encounters of the 3RD Kind' ----- and score Scriabin to the film and.....................
Think of that for a moment....as far as the the 'imploding' - I think it would happen.
