Funktual, you never cease to amaze. good isht. thanks. cratenerd hitting the exact session drummer....very impressive. Jamie you should do a 7-8 minute lesson on The Amen Break. most cats know The Winstons and the G.C. Coleman drum break from 1968 "Amen, Brother", and how widely it was sampled in Hip Hop culture, but you need to put your crazy, wild, funky spin on that joint........please share. and big ups to Pigmeat Markham
DJFunktual - I have a talented rapper who needs beats - you can definitely make beats if you can recognize these. He's on youtube so it's a five sec look...
I have that original BAD album. Notice Cool Herc in the liner notes. All of the clash were early hip hop fans. Mick Jones deserves an early place in sampling history... IMHO of course
Cool, thanks funktuall. Yeah I remember Sammy Davis Jr. doing that sketch and then I heard where he & the producers from "Laugh In" got the idea from Pigmeat. Now I didn't know Pigmeat had a hot joint & B.A.D. II took it from that track. Thanks for the history lesson man as always. Fun & entertaining. Peace.
I'm sooo,Glad You posted and are makin' folks aware of "Pigmeat",I tell kids Rapp didn't start in the Bronx in the 70's it was alread here since way back,The 70's Generation were inspired By Pigmeat and Radio D.J's Like Jacko.Keep 'em Coming.P.S. (Radio Dj's) that Why Jamaicans Who Chat(Rapp)Called them selves D.J's and Not M.C's.
Nice one funk. The Globe is, hands down, my favorite BAD album. So many good tracks - Can't Wait, Innocent Child, and of course the singles. It just so cohesive. Nice stuff.
Yea my bet is Morris Jennings. probably.. Maurice went on to do so much Jazz after that.. and he never really played on the EWF records... just a guess
That was dope. That break was so sweet... it sounds familiar too. Maybe on a Native Tongues (De La Soul most likely), 3rd Bass, Positive K or Pharcyde record... has that late 80s, early 90s upbeat hip hop feel.
Nevermind remembered it haha "Mark Farina - Betcha do"

If you didn't tell me that that "Here Come the Judge" was from 1968, I would have definitely guessed early 1980's. That was way ahead of its time.
And who says rock songs can't have samples?

That was a tasty gem you found there funktual, BAD 2 is honestly something I never heard of and never would have if it weren't for you crate digger

"here come the drums" by tricky tee 1986..
anyone into rare 80s hiphop should know about this joint
MPCbeatcreator 2 years ago
Tricky Tee's joint only takes the phrase melody but NOT the actual drum break featured here.

@MPCbeatcreator i was thinking the same thing when i first heard this

Interesting to hear a rhyme from 68 as people say the first rap record was recorded by King Tim III (Fatback) or the Sugarhill gang..

It could be Maurice White or Morris Jennings. Both were session drummers for Chess,Checker, and Cadet when the Pigmeat Markham record came out.
