  • It makes the bass use its strange tone area....The strings don't same original in those positions.Reversed.

  • wack. they shouldn't have messed with the original...

  • A truly horrible cover of a great record. Demonstrates fully why great musicians and singers were needed to make great records in the 60's . Now anyone who can sort of play and / or sing can waste a lot of time and not come close to the excitement of the original record which was most likely recorded in less than 3 hours............

  • did they break up?, are they writing at all?

  • hipsters.

  • i hate that blond girls voice, but i like the song

  • Are they gonna release this song (as a single or on an album)????????? cos this song rock..... they make it sound so good..... are they gonna make a third album????

  • I love The Black Kids!! They make everything worth listening to :)

  • Did this dude just say it was the most punk thing he's ever heard? LMFAO! Wow I like some of their songs but just by looking at this vid, I feel a bit guilty for liking them.

  • Q: We are well-fed, upper middle class kids, we want our MTV, we want to earn a lot of money without showing any kind of personality, we have no sense of humour. Can we cover Egyptian Shumba succesfully?

    A: No.

  • @rdnzl7878 hahaha

  • Where is this song??

How come their version isn't out yet?

  • Okay. I like it.

I don't really understand the strong dislike for it though. Last time I checked, the original song was happy, poppy, silly, and fun and Black Kids didn't leave any of those elements of the original out. I mean look at them, they're having FUN recording it just as I'm sure The Tammys had fun recording the song. People are too quick to hate change. You don't have to like a cover but don't hate it just because it's a cover. Music is not that serious, it's to be enjoyed.

  • Where can i buy this version I LOVE IT!

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE

  • *LIKE

  • Crap

  • Im inlove with Reggie.... just saying XD

  • where is the actual song?

  • this is less a "cover" and "look at these trendy kids having so much fun in the studio!!!!"

  • Fuck this shit the original is great this band sucks

  • Ruined.

  • I only like Reggie....

  • FAIL

  • Whats is the new of the song? I LOVE THIS <3

  • This version is completely neutered, it sucks, hard. They don't think they can ruin it. They are wrong.

  • haha, "we do it wilder", what?! it's not even close to the tammys wildness. suckers!

  • sad and very white.

    i love the tammys version.

  • A bunch of twats ruining a great song.

  • i hear the drum beats in my sleep UHHHHH

  • Where can I get a download of this version?!?! Was it on an album, single, what?

  • ha, what fags

    tammys version kicked ass

  • matching ray-bans...

what has this world come to

and yes, you can ruin it, you just did.

  • 1:45 ummmm hate to break it to you, but i'm pretty sure you just ruined it.

  • where can we get this cover of egyptian shumba?

  • god damn hipsters.

  • This all started with Lou Christie, The King.

  • in the most polite way possible, you destroyed one of the timeless songs in pop music history.

  • i enjoy that one guys' accent. haha.

and i'm not sure whether or not i would like their remake. i rather like most punk; it's the story of badasses! and "Black Kids" style seem like they're just that--kids.

i'm not sure they could pull it off and make it sound good. they're too cute. so for them, it has to be really quiet (like a lulaby?!) or sound like little kids making noises.

they need to stay outttt of the punk area.

  • Why would anyone let these fools cover The Tammys?

  • ours is cooler.

  • ummm they shouldn't have gone there. the tammys version is way more wild and cool.

  • Don't tamper with perfection.

  • Egyptian Shumba by the Tammys was released by United Artists Records in the spring of 1964. It's quite popular now as a Northern Soul track at dance clubs in the UK.

  • it's not obscure you dweeb

  • Way to go Black Kids- take a brilliant, crazy old song and make it really, really dull.

  • I think this song actually looks good!

And yes, I've heard the original.

  • awkward. leave the original alone please.

  • terrible but nice try you guys.

  • i wanna hang with the black kids

  • my aunt was one of the tammys. honest to god.

  • Can't wait; hope it doesn't take too long.

  • FAN-tastic song and performance! Black Kids rock the box!
