In the SAS 6 month selection process just one of the things they have to do is complete a 40 mile hike over the Brecon Beacons (extremely cold, rough and mountainous terrain) in under 24 hours while they carry a 55 lb bergen + 10 lb weapon + ammo + water + webbing. This is after they have spent the previous week running the equivelant of a marrathon a day. Now I would rather walk through fire than have to do that.

I only served in the Royal Green Jackets (2 RGJ although their now knowns as The Rifles) so I know little of the SBS although from what I hear they are actually more elite than SAS. I have been told that SBS will undergo SAS selection but then move onto a small course dedicated to amphibious warfare.
