Probably not just any engine, but I like to run most of mine this way. This prevents all the fuel line varnish from stale gas. Also, today's gasohol doesn't hold up very well for long term storage. All these engines are low compression, so naphtha works rather well.
Ever try 'em on pure acetone? Works good & clean.

A: I am running it on Coleman Fuel otherwise known as White Gasoline.
