  • Your video is a favorite on Doha

  • Odd responses for this video once again.

  • My computer would smoke if it tried to do this ...

  • I think that was generated running AMD Radeon

because only radeon currently support Direct X 11

  • @MrDarkTemples Nvidia ceated demo for AMD hardware? I doubt that. Besides, GTX 480 and newer cards support DX 11 as well as OpenGL 4.

  • @MrDarkTemples Are you sure you aren't in 2009? Nvidia has had DX11 cards and DDR5 since they released the GTX400 series.

  • DX9C can do this exact thing. MS rip off :P

  • Is there a demo to download?

  • @DASPEN666Devil I hope someone gets to a point that the quality is enough.. come on! see a tree (a fucking tree) at a resolution of 4500x2700? Im fine with a res of 1600x1200 already unless im a dude that nned 2500x1600!

  • This statement is one of someone that just wants the 'good enough', it's fine to have that view.

But the people that change the world and improve everything don't see your viewpoint. The world is hugely complicated, sure we will reach a point where graphics are at the optimum point, but all that will allow is for developers to focus on the game and story more.

In the end, why do you have 1600x1200? 1280x1024 was 'good enough' 10 years ago. Why stop there? 640x480 was 'good enough' too :)

  • If you don't want improvements, then don't upgrade your computer ever again :) but i can't see you doing that.

You're a human being, human being have NEVER settled for 'ggod enough' as a race during their whole existence.

  • @Bobzilla183 (dude your answeing me and its like 6:30 am here in my country lol! Im oversleeping kinda had a big operation yesterday and cant sleep with the pain =( ))

  • Yes, they do. Video games are a form of escapism, you COULD go out into a war, but no-one would do so compared to putting on call of duty for example. If video games look exactly like the real world, then all the better.

  • @Bobzilla183 But you will have to stop into mimetizing the real wolrd woudnt you? that will be the top... woudnt it...? youll have to buy no more hardware then and DX will stop... Foward to that.. what next? IT would be cool that you can experiment the War as if it was a game. Thas why i emphatized on what else do you need. What else could you achieve? If they keep going the companies would stop developing that kind of hardware because theyre at the top (that will be not that soon)

  • @DASPEN666Devil But in the meanwhile youll need to get actualized with new offers new software etc... etc...

  • only ati has dx11 for now

  • then i feel sorry for you that u bought that nvidia card.

  • DX11 is software AND HARDWARE. while somethings can be done with hardware to create a standard for the developers. Some features need hardware support. Without it you WILL NOT be DX11 complaint.

But you're right, people should not worry about it as normally DX upgrades happen devs don't program just for the new API, however make no mistake they "could" do that. This is why the X800XT wont run Bioshock. which is a DX9b card and a DX9c Game.

  • what they mean is only ati currentyl have cards that fully support dx 11 , some aspects of dx 11 are compatible with dx 10 cards which is why you can install dx 11 on a computer with a dx 10 card , but you wont get some features like , direct compute until you get a dx11 card , it can be a bit confusing

  • @upkiller12

u are so stupid :D:D lol

  • Fun that the Radeon 5800 cards is double as fast as GTX285 in this test that it's nVidia's own testprogram

  • PLEASE HELP ME.. i have GTX285 SSC and interesting me, if there graphic card have a DirectX 10.1 ??? you know ?

  • no it doesnt have dx10.1

just ATI cards support that feature!!!

  • lies? cause the nvidia geforce 210 has it.....

  • omg

these cards arnt really graphic cards

    they are sooooo bad!!!!

  • 1 april ;)

  • and dont forget, this is REALTIME.

  • Who care`s, the games first need to be better programmed before they get new graphics. Look at GTA4 PC or ArmA, nice Graphic, but so crappy programmed that it even lags out a High End PC... sucks

  • I agree but take gta4 off that list,i get 45 to 60 fps solid on my i7 rig no problems watch any of my videos graphics are smooth an cranked up.I cann't speak for Arma thou.I'd say bad programmin shows in fallout 3 ,AoC, an most PC games on release but after a patch or two things usually get better.

  • Its like Crysis

  • way better....

  • @bigdog813 you sir, have not played crysis. at least on high settings. Crysis looks awesome. (until you start supersampling, then it starts looking like a slideshow)

  • your telling me what i have and have not played shut the fuck up

  • The ONLY bad thing i can say about it, is that it looks tiled, otherwise its almost perfect.

  • that is really cool!!!!!!

    God I love free enterprise.

  • NO FUCKING WAY :))))

  • well, since you are such a pro they you probly know that the same effect has been possible to generate for all the way back to the days of Dx 6 and that this can offcourse be DX 11, because the stuff that changes from generation to generation if direct X inst its visuals but its ability to generate the visuals faster and using less computing power ;)

  • @Protech14 No. Before DX11 you could not do this. I'm not explaining why, because a smart person would find this out himself, and a stupid person would just RAGE - which is what I'm hoping for. :D

  • @AntiStupidity Yes. You could do this way before DX11. This demo is only showing what the compute shader pipeline can be used for. FFT based water simulations have been done in realtime for many years back.

  • @AntiStupidity water simulations could be done before, DX11's compute shader only allows us to make it look better or raise the performance.

  • @Protech14 PLEASE do better english

  • @Protech14 You obviously don't know shit about what DirectX actually is meant to be.. No offense, just impression from reading your comment.

  • Can I get this as a looping video, sooo nice. If dream scene wasn't crap I would be all over this.

  • Don't be to excited, this water is not interactive - it's just "statistics computation" plus perlin noise...

I doubt it will be simple to implement interactivity to such water...

Anyway, DX11 Compute Shader opens almost infinite possibilities for game designers, not only in graphics, but in AI too... Let's wait and see...

  • lol truly not.. if what you say is right.. then this will be the last DX version and there will be no dx12 and such. im pretty sure that in the future.. more will be out.. better

  • I CAN'T WAIT TIL DX11 COMES OUT :D

  • :O "jaw drops"

  • awesome!!

  • Looks like CryENGINE Water

  • a bit but it gets computed in another way...

  • ...not really, this is way more advanced than even the cryengine water. Cryengine2's water is the est lookin water in games currently. but imagine that water compared to cryengine's u would see a huge diff xD

  • woderful

  • Wonderful. I am waiting for Silent Hunter 5 now.

  • ähhm... wow!?

  • once they get stereoscopic 3d then they just need to get the resolution to the human eye and then its as real as real life gets. get this.. the human eye resolution in terms of pixels like a monitor for a 20 x 13.3-inch print viewed at 20 inches is 10600x7000, or 74 megapixel and the most a monitor can give at that size is 1680 x 1050 so we got a long way to go maybe to fit that enormous amount of pixels in a small screen.

  • Personally I find aliasing to be something that really breaks the realism factor for me. Imagine the overhead of anti-aliasing 10600x7000 pixels...

  • lol you wont need anti aliasing at that resolution because the eye wont be able to detect any details. no matter how thin a string is you wont see jagged edges lol like in real life.

  • touche

  • like in real life? - u can't compare that ... ofc u can say that a big enough resolution will make it almost impossible to perceive single pixels but there are no pixels in real life :)

  • well you can pretend pixels in real life are atoms. so you can't see them but they make the images everywhere. so when resolution is high enough you don't see pixels but detailed looking things like in real life! :) i think i did a good analogy there...

  • lol

  • there are atoms suspended in the are that light passes through, like pixels

  • directx 11 is incredibly close to life-like graphics. but i wonder.... after it gets to the point of realism to the human eye (no point is making it more detailed than a human can see) whats next?

  • I've been thinking the same thing myself. You can't make things look more realistic than complete realism. You can continue to improve I suppose, but will you even be able to notice the difference if it already looks real?

  • Well there is always hyperrealism :P.

  • Or can you?

  • stereoscopic 3d

  • yeah actually you are right yuri, the 2d screen can never achieve perfect realism since we use 2 eyes which are 2 points of views combined to 1 in our minds which makes 3d to us. the solution would be splitting the screen in 2 and show the game on both sides from different angle kinda how u see S3d now or with some special glasses? not sure. but i did read this: "At Microsoft Advance 2008 in May James Cameron announced that Ubisoft has a stereoscopic 3D game for the Xbox 360." should be cool.

  • I game in 3d using the iz3d monitor- google it. Another solution is geeforce 3d vision

  • hopefully some creativity lol

  • Making the world bigger and bigger.

For example first they will be able to make a life like room, then a house, a neighborhood, a country and even the entire earth at once, without loading ^^

  • Micro-stutter

    Micro-stutter

    I see Micro-stutter

    Micro-stutter

    Micro-stutter

    I see Micro-stutter

    I see Micro-stutter

  • this looks amazing

  • dente

  • Very nice!

  • euhm I play crysis on vh and the water does NOT I repeat does not look like that.

  • Crysis use dx10

  • Are you stupid? Crysis uses DX10, but only on Vista (Obviously) and it only looks slightly better and takes a big performance hit.

  • Very impressive demonstration of physics. It looks like CFD is entering games big time.

  • dx is overrated since dx10. dx9 ftw.

  • It was more poorly implemented than overrated.

  • Well, i can make that ocean in 3ds max and play it in unreal engine easily... nothing special.

  • Yeah, have to say there are a couple current engines with better water. But it's just an example of what the compute shader can be used for

  • Ati did it in 2006 without dx11.... nvidia rotfl!!!

  • kthxbai

  • GTX 280, as good as the card is, it's DX10, not DX11 and I don't see the word "emulated" anywhere so I'm inclined to agree with

AxelLNo1. Nvidia also has a long history of "not agreeing with the standards", and trying to push their own (CUDA is one example).

Even if it's DX10 it's awesome, even if the ran down an algorythm on the GTX280 to emulate DX11 (with the subsecuent performace degrade you wont see since there are no comparisons or fps meter), it still look very good. Heck I wanna swim.

  • Well...Holy shit!

  • what else ?

  • Is this an April 1 joke? :)

  • what joke? Crysis game has almost the same visual effect not far away at all...

  • I mean that it is not so jaw dropping at all. And DX11 is not out yet, and even if it did got out, the current Nvidia products are not very compatible with it's new features. Ati would be a better choice to demonstrate its glory over DX10. That is why I think it's an April 1 joke.

  • Very nice!

  • 1st april isn't it ?

  • well... i never thougt its possible to render water like this with a pc O_o

  • no different form real water

  • omfg.. this is freaking awesome

  • OMFG!

  • Simply beautiful.

  • Esse video não é em tempo real galera.

  • Uma merda. Faço isso desde 2003 no Maya.

  • Idiota. Isso é em tempo real o babaca.

  • WHAT?!

  • Fraco, padrão repetitivo, só tem umas rugosidades a mais.

    Video pega trouxa.

    Ciao

  • crysis do that, and silent hunter a little bit of that too

  • Crysis with natural mod looks like this. I was playing Crysis DX9 on WinXP and using the Natural Mod Patch. I think they dont need to advance to DX11 to make the water looks like the one in the video. Im sure about this because i played crysis on DX9 with natural mod and the water was almost like this.

  • Holy shit; and I thought Crysis' water looked good O_O

  • Absolutely amazing! and a little spooky. Can we even trust our eyes anymore?

  • very cool

  • looks cool
