its weird.... i actually prefer the US version. Usually the UK versions of things are more realistic and grungey, at least i find. But in this version, everything seems far too polished.
have u ever noticed that all of the other casts have wendla tie her sting on her under garments while lea micheal let it open but made sure it was covering her up watch on of her videos from this number u will notice it
@cupcakeninja6 Yes, don't forget that this is 1891 Germany, specifically in a very provincial town. Things like puberty, sex, how children are made, sexuality, and deep emotional feelings like love and sorrow were not discussed. Children were extremely sheltered, and were not told of the things that, to today's children, are basically second nature.
@elsamm1 Because that was the direction we were given. I know I'm bias but I think our accents were more true to the European setting of the original play... Just my opinion :) x
I was in the audience for this performance and it made me an emotional wreck both times I saw it. Thank you so much for posting and making me weep like a child again.
@cupcakeninja6 you have to keep in my mind the time period of the show. its set in Germany in the 1890s and in the beginning the girls are expressing their anger towards their mothers' refusal to explain how babies are made.
if you've seen the show i'm sorry for explaining at you bc you obviously already knew lol.
@Hemizzle it's like an aside, what's in their head- note they seldom sing to each other even though it's a duet. :] whenever a mic comes out, it's their thoughts
.. .. lea and jonathan's take on this scene was more raw that you can feel the passion and hunger of their bodies that usually if felt when having sex the first time..
I love this cast. They bring such a different take on everything and make it their own. Could you please post their Mama Reprise? I love that number! (:
