I saw her in Des Moines too! I was upset when I learned that I wasn't going to get to see Marcie Dodd but Anne blew me away within the first five notes of this song. I will be a fan forever! This girl is amazing!

I'm not sure why Marcie wasn't performing. Understudies are scheduled for certain shows so maybe Anne was scheduled to do the show that I saw. Otherwise if Marcie just wasn't able to go on her Standby would have gone on.

Is Marcie supposed to be leaving, though? And if so, do you know when? I'm supposed to see Wicked again this coming May in Dallas and again next fall in Memphis, and I sort of want Marcie to perform at both dates.

I'm not sure when Marcie is due to leave the tour. Usually people only sign on for 9 months to a year. Marcie might be at your May performance but I'm not sure about next fall. I'm sure that anyone you have will be wonderful. If Anne gets the lead as Elphaba then you are in for a treat. She is breathtaking and in my opinion she was better than Marcie.

I found out that Donna Vivino is playing Elphaba in May. But I looked up videos of her and she seems amazing, so I'm looking forward to it. As for next fall, it isn't posted yet, but it'll probably still be Donna.

Saw her on 10/2/09 in Des Moines, my buddy is blind and was very upset when we sat down and was informed that Anne the "UNDERSTUDY" would be filling in for ELPHABA, after the show it was all WOW SHE WAS INCREDIBLE and she really was....

She was so amazing that I just couldn't believe it was her first performance as Elphaba. She had me in tears. And she was so gracious and sweet afterwards signing and taking pictures. My daughter and I will be forever fans.

UPDATE!!! Anne will be joining the Chicago company of Wicked as understudy (replacing Vicki Noon) and will be joining the 2nd nat'l tour of Wicked in March as standby!

It says on her site that she's joining the National Tour of Wicked, and if so she better be some kind of u/s or s/b for Elphaba!
