There's a lot worse things that the CIA could've done. Whipping, electricution, white hot metal on skin.
If CIA wanted to do it the cheap way, they would've done something like that rather than research something harmless and non permanent like waterboarding.

oh man, I dont know where to start here... besides the fact that waterboarding in fact creates false intelligence, in fact simple counter intel (like decoding radio transmissions) is much more effective , It is an affront to what this country stands for. Believe it or not in 1949 We signed the geneva convention , this protects prisoners of war from torture. Of course the popular argument is that these "terrorists" arent soldiers, well with that reasoning I guess we arent at war.

I don't care if they waterboard terrorists during war. When you're in war the only objective is to win. Worrying about being inhumane, or stooping down to someone else's level will only get you killed. You're gonna have to stoop down to you're enemies' level when in war, if you want them to cooperate. I say just do whatever it takes to win this war.

In actual war, we have units (Special Forces) who are used as a scalpel rather than a hammer. Like 1st SFOD-D and Navy DEVGRU, who also capture terrorists. Rather than killing them, we can use them to get intelligence on other terrorists. Other attacks.

with one attempt a seal "lasted" for 7min, when waterboarding is used, do you really think they're going to do it just for that 7min?

Waterboarding doesn't save lives. Only idiots think waterboarding and other torture methods save Americans. If you actually look at recruitment data for Anti-American terrorist groups you will see that a high percentage of new recruits are drawn in by our treatment of Muslim prisoners.

@DesertChipmunkAZ water boarding and committing other acts of torture at Guantanamo and abroad has only caused problems. we want to win over the locals, not torture them until they become insurgents. it's ridiculous. any FBI psychologist or military psychologist will tell you that ultimately, torture is not the best way to obtain information. by water boarding locals who are kidnapped by warlords and then sold to US military bases, we are digging ourselves a grave in Afghanistan.
