  • 3 nu stiu sa aprecieze....very nice

  • hui, die is geil! ich will auch eine. . .

  • Very nice engine. I love it. It is very creative!

  • 1:07

  • Einfach aber sehr cool!

  • sehr schon gute gemacht

  • where did you get that wheel?

    wo hast du das Rad?

  • @fairyheli2, this is a very old wheel from Maerklin, from a technics toy kit of my son, 35 years old (the wheel), cheers Hartmut

  • @hartmutbehrendt , sorry, 45 years.

Trickreiche Kinematik! Ventilsteuerung?

  • Hallo @syncopcgda , siehe video 'Single action steam engine part 2' , da ist alles erklaert, Gruss Hartmut

  • @hartmutbehrendt: Respekt, sehr anschauliche Gaf. in part 2. Ist ja eine ganz "normale" Flachschieber- Steuerg. Weg- u. Geschw.-Verlauf des Schiebers sinusfömig. Also nix mit verläng. Verweilzeiten in den Totlagen. Komfortabel ist die Schwalbenschwanz- Führg.Musste ich früher auch mal feilen. Schieberhub wird durch Kurbelrad. 1 (Lev.1) und Winkelstellg. Lev.2 bestimmt.

  • the crankshaft looks like rockem-sokem robots or whatever

  • This just proves how you can make a working steam engine using the most basic parts. It may look like crap, but you wouldn't be complaining if it was your only power source!

    Antwort freuen !

  • im yhinkin about makin a forgin hammer outa one

  • want videos? go to youtube.lol! lawl joke! i hate spam but anywayz nice engine~!

  • Very nice engine! I like your use of things you had laying about. Can I get some info on steam port size bore and stroke?

  • Hello, I think you mean the hole in the sliding valve? It has a diameter of 2.5 mm and a stroke of 7 mm. The holes in the sliding valve case are 2.5 mm aswell, 7 mm distance. Cheers Hartmut

  • Very good example of craftsmanship and to use of everyday tools and materials...

    Good work,

    OleTimeMachinest

  • Hello, thank you for the comments, Sir. I wish you all the best for your future. Regards, Hartmut

  • Wow that is a very clever design !

What is the function of the wire between the base and engine?

  • Hello Dave, this wire gives some pressure to the sliding valve, which is worn out a bit, to control the air-/steampressure better. Furthermore it reduces the noise coming from the worn out links. The high speed runnings (up to 5000 rpm) are not so good for all the parts made out of simple material. Cheers Hartmut

  • I keep coming back to watch this video

  • it is great!!!!

it takes genius to make something simple that works without real tools tools

  • would like to see the plan of this engine can you please share with me.

  • Hallo, all I have is a video 'Single action steam engine part 2' here in the internet. Click on the righthand side 'More from: hartmutbehrendt', than you can see it. Cheers Hartmut

  • hey, do you have plans for this engine?

if so do you think you could email them to me

  • Hallo, click on the righthand side 'More from: hartmutbehrendt', then you can see all my Videos. Select 'Single action steam engine, part 2', than everything is clear I think. To have more time to read, use the 'pause' sign to stop the picture. Cheers Hartmut

  • Men, you are a fantastic inventor.

Your construction is so SIMPLE and FUNCTIONAL !!!

You must invent other things too !

If you live at 1700 , you where the inventor of steam engines!!!

    Congratulations !!!

  • Hello, thank you for your nice words. I am happy that you like my little old engine. It still works, meanwhile with life steam, it is even more fascinating. Cheers Hartmut

  • Hi! Du HAst Ja eine Super Dampfmaschine Gebaut aber wie Hast du das mit dem Ventil Gemacht? Wäre nett wenn du Mir meine Frage beantworten Könntest.

  • Hallo, klicke einmal rechts 'More from: hartmutbehrendt' an, dann siehst Du alle meine Videos. Waehle 'Single action steam engine, part 2' an. Da ist alles erklaert.

    Gruss Hartmut

  • Stickin it to the man, I'ts the end of the oil monopoly man!! That is cool

  • Truly excellent, beautiful... OUTSTANDING!

  • Sir, you are one of the rare craftsmen-geniuses.

Thank you for sparking my imagination: what can be done with so little if a person has a keen mind and a strong will. Forty one years ago, and today, we see it, a superior running machine in fine balance.

  • Hello, thank you for your nice words. Meanwhile 7 persons have asked and got pictures and sketches. All the best to you, Hartmut

  • Okey Igpassword, I have seen your message with the adress. I will send you the pictures very soon. Hartmut

  • Hallo Igpassword, if you send me your E-Mail address, I will do that. Hartmut

  • Fabulous! 5 Stars.

  • could you send me some plans of your piston?

  • Very nice but the thought of it flying apart is very worrisome. I cringed every time you cranked up the rpm's.

  • Hello boduck5, if you send me your E-Mail address, I will send you some pictures which shows how I built it.

    Hartmut

  • could you tell me how you built it too. PLEASE ;(.

  • if i give you my email would you give me the pics too please?

  • Hello my young friend, of course I will do that, cheers Hartmut

  • Hello, I'm still waiting for the e-mail address if you are interested any longer(use the info box), Hartmut

  • for a engine made with out tools thats a pretty good engine wonder how you built it.thanks

  • Nice work indeed. This proves that you don't need much to have a great deal of fun :)

  • Hallo Jake, you are right, but I leave it better in the condition I build it. I ran it from time to time, thats enough (meanwhile it is quite worn out).

You have an interesting hobby, I mean the metal casting. This thrills me aswell, I will watch your videos in future.

    Cheers Hartmut

  • That looks and runs great man! you gotta find something else for a flywheel though, it completely ruins the mechanical appearance.

  • Hello Austin, it was made 1966 in Kaduna, N. Nigeria. It took some weeks to build it. I can send you some pictures.

If it would work with a piston from a motorbike, I don't know. The design of my machine does'nt allow high pressure and stress. So in this case it would be much better to build it according to a drawing of a real steam engine.

To send pictures I need your E-Mail address. Use the 'INBOX' -- function of YOUTUBE 'compose a message'.

    Cheers Hartmut

  • Hmm, thats a great job well done.

How long did it take you to make this engine and will you be willing to show me more details as to how you did it, do you think that a used piston from a motor bike or car will perform well under similar situation?

Where in Nigeria was this made? just curious.

  • Friggin awesome! Great project

  • ... this is a work of art! A person - craftsman! - made this out of nothing Doffing me cap to you, sir!

    Says Clyde

  • Thank you to all of you for your nice words, Hartmut

  • It ran beyond expectations, I must say.. Wich material did you use for the piston? And how did you manage to get it (pretty much) leak-free?

I'm planning on a plastic engine with a PVC cylinder etc..

  • Hello, thank you for your interest. As I remember well, the was piston from the injection device was made of chrom plated brass. I used a second piston and hammered it through the plumbum tube. The piston was only a little bit oversized. The valve is not totally leakfree, you can hear it. Hartmut

  • No, but I actually meant the working piston..

  • Hello, I meant the working piston too, the remarks about the valve was an additionel information only. Hartmut

  • It looks crude but runs like a champ.

    Sweet!

  • dam! thats atleast going 60mph
