  • can hammer editor just be used on tf2 alone? i jsut got a upgraded pc and going back to level makeing but dont want to instal hl2 or css as i never play them.

  • @Oliver3168Large

Yeah I think so. If you just install TF2 and then install SourceSDK then it should only have the TF2 configuration available in the SDK launcher. I don't think it requires HL2 or CSS in order to map for TF2, that wouldn't make much sense honestly.

  • @nubblecakes thanks man it`l save me some download time.

  • @nubblecakes Fantastic video! The best of SourceSDK I've ever seen!

  • Epic map! Is that "animated water reflection overlay" custom?

  • cool your on gmod.com right, garry thinks your awesome... by the way your map style is awesome

  • Make a tutorial please

  • Very Bioshock-esque.

  • Can i have the textures?

  • that isnt hard.... all the texture is is a transparent scrolling texture and the caustics are animated overlays...

  • @sycokitty123

    Your point?

  • @nubblecakes i think his point was that it isnt hard "she said"

  • @nubblecakes

Verry nice job :)What program you use to make level and is it hard ? And also include all content in program you maked this?. Sry my bad eng.

  • @Niklas21

I used Hammer Editor to make this map. You need at least Half Life 2 or Counter-Strike: Source in order to use it. You also have to download Source SDK on Steam, as it contains Hammer Editor, amongst other necessary tools. Read the video description for additional tools. I appreciate your comment, but this is the older version. You might want to check out the latest video (Water Tunnel Build 3) for the more recent build. Good luck with your mapping endeavors.

  • @nubblecakes

Yes i have all source games. I see hammer editor on steam on tools bar. I not never see it before xD. LOL.. And again nice job .

  • @nubblecakes can I download the texture? (=

  • @XXPYthxxONXXxx

I don't have it anymore. The hard drive that had this project in it crashed ages ago.

  • @sycokitty123 never said it was hard

  • Nice map, looks very neat, looks a bit like Mirrors Edge

  • Looks like Mirror's Edge O_o

  • 15 minutes job :P

  • I saw epic sparkles at 01:01 :O

  • Reminds me of Mirror's Edge :P

    Nice.

  • just wondering if you could make a tutorial about how to use that water affect, that would be muchly appreciated

  • @fraction360

I put rough instructions in to the video description and I even replied to someone with some slightly more detailed instructions. I haven't worked on this map in months now so I haven't bothered to write up a detailed tutorial. To be quite honest it's incredibly easy to do, you just need the right tools.

  • i want those textures!

  • @fraction360

Due to a freak accident I lost them. Sorry, otherwise I would have uploaded them somewhere for you.

They weren't really that special. I just used stock texture and edited it in Photoshop a little.

  • It reminds me of Mirrors edge, well done :D.

  • Could u put up a tutorial on how to make water and caustics? I keep getting the format wrong... Also i used that caustics generator and... made it animated but it shows up white in hammer @-@

  • @xXNek0jinXx

    Bleaarrrggghhhhhhhh

The caustics are pretty simple to do but you need to learn VMT coding. You just export each frame of the animation in Caustics Generator as like...TGA. Make sure the background color is set to pitch black (255 255 255). Then you load up VTF Edit and go to File, Import and import each and every frame (from last to first) and it will piece them together for you. Save it as VTF, and when you code the VMT, add "$additive" "1" and "$overlay" "1" so it works right.

  • so let me get this strait...you SIMULATED DYNAMIC WATER!?!?

awsome map, I like the custom texture work reminds me of mirrors edge sewer levels, that's a beautiful lime green.

  • Lul, dynamic my ass. Looks like a water brush with a trigger_push of sorts.

  • @habboi as said in description, in fact he explained it, I didn't know you could make simulated dynamic water this way.

  • @habboi And what have you made :0?

  • @xXNek0jinXx

Habboi is a beast from the east.

  • @nubblecakes my bad... I should have done research before i commented :o

  • @nubblecakes Lul, beast from the east.

  • @habboi Sowwy D:
