Because Rachel's intention was to inject humor into this piece of music. Those abrupt transitions from "presto" to "adagio" tempos are what triggered laughter in the audience...she's trying to make classical music FUN!

She played this piece for the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra's 75th anniversary a few years ago. I was totally impressed by her dazzling virtuosity...she plays the most difficult passages so effortlessly and so flawlessly. She has such a crystal-clear technique, she's absolutely fantastic!! I hope I can play the violin as well as her in the very near future.

I love how she injects humor into this piece! Most classical violinists are too serious about their repertoire, but she has fun!
