  • I'm 57 170 pounds and ride a gsxr 1000

  • hey dude. im 6'8, i really want a motorcycle, what should i get for my first bike? im really tall but not "big". fairly skinny guy. what should i get? dont plan on going super fast all the time, just want a bike that is good gas mileage and looks good. but also fits me.

  • My friend bought a BMW S100RR (around 170 hp rear wheel) because he's a rich bastard and assured me he was going to be fine on it. Second day of having it, popped the clutch, and wrapped the bike around a tree. Broke like everything on his right arm (fingers, hand, wrist, elbow) and really messed up his back.

  • @WinTheNorth Aw man that sucks. Hope he gets better but that is an all too common story man.

  • My first bike was an intruder 800(805cc). Only goes as fast as you let it.

  • im 6 -2 211 lbs im to tall for 250

    wat should i do

  • My very first bike was and is a 2011 r6. I refused to get a 250. just because you have that power does not mean you have to use it. Its all about safe judgement. WITH THAT SAID I know many ppl don't have good judgement (as I'm laughing at your God will guide my soul rant lmao). If your smart and practice turning in an enclosed area everything will be fine. I'm not bashing your thoughts just giving mine. Stay safe

  • @MrRambo420x I know it works for some. Just like you said it takes good judgement. What video is that rant from?

  • Hey! I was wondering what your thoughts are for the Honda CBR250r. I'm debating on the Ninja 250r and the CBR 250r for a beginner bike. Thanks in advance!

  • @JudgeyMcFudgey I have a video on the CBR 250R.

  • @JudgeyMcFudgey i don't know mate... i actually started with a 49cc bike...then moved to 250 and then 500 you have to make all these steps or you won't die in bad...good luck and ride safe

  • @JudgeyMcFudgey i have a kawi 250 and from what i heard talking to people about 250's was that the kawi is better simply because it has been around longer. more reliable. I know almost nothing about the cbr, but honda makes a great bike too, especially if they are considering the 250 in the cbr series. if you are looking to buy or sell you will probably find a better price in either direction with a kawi because of videos like this. everybody loves the kawi. if the cbr is fuel injected get it!!

  • since when do 250s hold their value? if they even do theyre what 4k new? thats not that much value to hold anyways considering every other bike is 8-13k new.

i have a 250 haha they arent good bikes to get used and for some reason alot of people I know have had lots of engine issues and carb issues which is normal because they are carbs.

they should make an EFI 250. thatd be cool.

  • @dustyroads13 They do in Europe. I havent had any problems with mine. At all...

  • I bet someone has said this but you don't have to shift all 6 gears for 30mph lol only the manual said that and that is dumb. 30mph i am in 2 or 3 gear.

  • @Ana1Hai1 The point is, a 250 lacks the power. On my 600, I could do almost 60 in 1st gear.

  • @sk84chickz well the 250 isn't for power its for fun and $ not power and speed like the 500s, 600s, 1000s

  • hello there, so i am planning on getting a bike soon, atleast by this summer. I have rode dirtbikes for a lot of time in my life, and am planning on getting a Suzuki GSXR 750, now is this a bad decision? or should i lower it to a 600

  • @gatorsrule850 I would think if your careful you'll be fine.

  • @starhobo14 i have decided to get a Gixxer to start off with, then maybe when im older i will get a 750 or higher. thanks though!

  • @gatorsrule850 Sure. Make a video of the bike when you get it! And please send it to me so I can see it! Good luck mate!

  • are you getting your tires at a dealer? if so thats why their so pricey

get them off line, you can get the michelin pilot powers for around $300

  • @sjona20111 Yeah that's what others have said here. I should have been more careful in that respect.

  • riding without a helmet is when a motorcycle becomes a donor cycle, because after that, they're gfpo: good for parts only.

  • @DarthTwilight You just made my night. 'Donor Cycle' is my new favorite term!

  • i guess my 09 gsxr 1000, 2010 zx10r, 2010 ducati 1198r, soon 2012 ducati 1199 tricolor. should not b a comute bike hahaha.i started on a gsxr 750. ride what u want. u want to get a busa go for it just respect the power.

  • hi just a quick question.. im living in the UK and im on a Provisional license where u can only ride a motorcycle up to 33bhp. when i was 10 i got into motocross and still am in motocross now racing a KX125 (Very Powerful) .. when i was 16 i had an Aprillia RS50. i have now upgraded to the RS125 (33bhp) would u still suggest i get a 250r? although im very interested in the 600 bandit?

  • @Thepace1994 Not with that sort of experience. Plus a Bandit (for you) wouldn't age as quickly within your interests.

  • @starhobo14 Great. Thanks for the feed back. Any other good bikes u could suggest for me? just from ur personal opinion ?

  • @Thepace1994 I'm a softy for the Yamaha FZ6. And the SV650. Thanks for the sub and let me know what bike you end up getting! Take a video and post it up here!

  • @starhobo14 Great Thanks alot! i will let u know :)

  • lol dude u have attitude towards ppl who state their opinions...just calm it down abit... like u said opinions are just that

  • @elmascabrondelmundo2 lol I guess it depends on the mood I'm in. Many of these comments are from long ago though. Point taken.

  • I Agree with you on that one. My first two bikes where 125cc slow thing and I had a ton of fun with them. And when you get bored with something small there's a whole range of engine sizes to try out and from sport 600cc bike there's not much that will go faster (and the differences aren't as big between 600, 750 and than 1000 sports bike, unlike betwee 125,250 400 and 600). Even tho I'm riding 600 FZR I'm thinking of something smaller again 'cause ther are so much fun and so much cheapper ;)

  • i def learned to ride on a 03 gsxr 750 so a 600 as a first bike reasonable

  • @BF703 You don't even know how to spell properly. Youtube has spell check. Keep your ignorant fingers to others videos. And also go find your shift key. I just can't take people like you seriously.

  • I'll say it again: A good first bike should be affordable and easy to control, with low weight, comfortable ergonomics and with low horsepower output. If the beginner rider prefers cruisers, I'd suggest a stroked big block 606ci Boss Hoss with an aftermarket nitrous injection system. If the rider prefers sportbikes, I'd suggest an early 90's Yamaha YZR500 or maybe a Top Fuel Drag Bike. As far as dirtbikes go, a beginner cannot go wrong with a Honda CR500 or a 760 Maico.

  • Starhobo14 I agreed with you I started on a Suzuki ST-75 when I was 11yrs. old moved up too a Suzuki DR 185 when I was 15yrs. old. Got into Motorcross racing when I was 18yrs. old on an Suzuki RM 250 moved up to super-sport (600's ) bikes in my 20's ended up doing GP tracks, my current bike is a Gixxer 750 I don't see the need for a Liter Super Sport on the road or the track, the 750's get better times than the 1000's

  • I got a 2009 Ninja 250r for my first bike and I'm glad I did it. It is very forgiving and easy to learn on. They also hold their value very well. I put 6k on my bike and sold it for more than I bought it for. Once you get some experience I suggest getting a 600rr. You will learn to respect it and be that much more of an experienced rider. I now have a 2006 Suzuki gsxr 600rr

  • dont waste your time or money buying a 250, your only going to waste your money, and your time. you will get bored of it an will grow out of it within a few months

  • @KyOkUsHiNFiGhTeR09 Good thing opinions are just that.

  • @starhobo14 i know right, ones opinion an thoughts are different from anothers.

  • @KyOkUsHiNFiGhTeR09

I ride a 600 gixxer as my first bike.... Had no problems at all.

Sooooo u dont know it all..."know it all" lol.

Nice R6 bro although a gixxer is more comfy ;)

  • @DjDadeo thats cool, i ride a 98 750 daily, did i say i 'know it all" no i didnt, just speaking from my point of veiw

  • im 13 and i ride my dads gsxf 650 all the time for practice.

  • im just now getting into bikes and glad i watched all these youtube videos. really helped me out, i wont be buying a superbike anytime soon.

  • thanks sooo much for the video! this helped me a lot! guess wanting a ninja 250r is a great choice for me. i've never rode a bike before so since you and like a crap ton of other youtubers seem to think its the best start off bike ima choose it, i like it anyway it seems. And besides i can always get another bike later when i get more experience, no reason to rush and get my self hurt because i want a "more powerful bike" off the bat, anyway thanks again, stay safe!

  • @tyler16666 No problem man. Let me know how it all goes!

  • @starhobo14 thanks! its going to be a few months before i get the money for it though =/ sadly lol. thanks!

  • Your an idiot for paying $500 for your tires...just saying you can get the same tires for around 225 shipped for both

  • @BoredGuy828 I've heard that. But I just went to the shop and had them do everything including mounting and balancing.

  • I am getting a 2008 GSXR 600 for my first street bike. I used to ride dirt bikes alot when I was younger. But never drove anything like a street bike. I chose the 08 gsxr 600 instead of the 250 because the mode selector that it comes with that can tone down the power so I can learn on it better and gradually unleash the power as i become more comfortable. Do you think this was a wise decision on my part?

  • @IamKuyper Yeah, seems like you have some experience and that's what you really want. Sweet man.

  • You seem to spend a lot of time looking down. Keep your eyes on the horizon.

  • @haloplayerhater

    It's the camera, not him

  • 600cc was my first bike and i dont regret it at all. just respect the bike. I still have it and as my first bike im glad i didnt go 250 because 600 power is still fun as opposed to a 250 that probly woulda got boring quick

  • @36gh0zt36 I think it depends though. I mean I still ride it. But I can see where you are coming from.

  • Totally agree. A 600 for a first bike is the worst thing you can do. There's a difference between sitting on the bike down a straight road and knowing how to ride/handle the bike. 600's are still relatively light and the amount of power... rockets. Every pro rider out there would tell you the same thing, and they all ride less powerful lighter bikes (such as supermotos). I can't believe anyone justifying 600's or recommending them for new riders. You won't look cool splattered across the road.

  • @pachris Well said my friend. But I will say, you will look cool before the splatter and going 45 in first screaming at 10k rpm's with no pipe.

  • don't mean to be a flamer or anything but I really disagree with him. Once you start listing scooters as bikes you've owned there's a problem. lol

    idk but that's just me

  • @rachelisunhappy22305 That's fine if you disagree. Just make sure to let others know your side as well.

  • i agree its better to learn on a 250 and alot easier to pass your road test but its a bike that u will get bored of if ur a first time drive cause u will get used to it and when u are young all u want to do is go fast and have lots of power to fool around with

  • @xELITExGUNN3ERx I agree, but I also think that mindset of the young causes problems.

  • 1 thing to mention about a 250, in my area they hold their value very well and used ones sell quickly. Most of the time since they are a beginner bike they are in great shape and many can be found with low mileage. I feel like I'd be rolling the dice on a used liter bike. It could easily have been beaten to hell. I have an 1100 and a 350. I still love riding my '75 RD350 2 stroke and it gets talked about more than GSXRs at bike nights.

  • @Quipstiley Good point! I didn't think about that but that is true here as well. 250's hold their values very well! So, if one did get a 250 and then wanted to upgrade it's not likely they would be loosing much and the experience gained would be priceless.

  • Random, but you kinda sound like jeff goldblum.

  • @XxXSKYCHIEFXxX You know I get that more often then I thought I would...

  • i actualy find my 600 more comfortable than any bike ive ever ridden , and yes i have rode multiple 250's.

  • @l1ves2r1de Interesting. I always got a sore wrist from mine.

  • @starhobo14 haha 8:16 is priceless you sound like the joker lol

  • Difference for between the ninja 250 and ninja 250r , the 250r is cheaper so im confused.

  • @ChickenfromWrZ Yeah I have no idea man. They don't offer the 250 here just the 250r. Long ago the 250 (without R) was a 4-cyl. Now a days it may just be euro version (or japan) vs Americas.

  • I think to completely narrow down everyone's confusion on what they should buy... If you've never been on any type of motorized vehicle.. be it 2 wheels or 4(four wheeler, not a car) and you ride more than 3x a year.. Id say get a 600.. but if you havent ever ridden anything before.. and dont even know how to use a clutch.. get a 250.. Wear a helmet and full gear.. I've raced dirtbikes all my life, I started on an r6 and I dont think I'll ever be unsatisfied with the power.

  • was that a 4 wheeler tords the end of the movei clip look lol

  • I have the same car (jeep grand Cherokee) as you and I want that Ninja 250r... awesome right??

  • @SuperAUTOcar Well, would be but I have a different car now lol

  • @starhobo14 lol I'm gonna sell it some day right? haha

  • This is what I did. I rented a Suzuki GS500 for a week. Once I got used to that I purchased a CBR 600RR as my first bike. Best decision I ever made.

  • "must be corrected" lmao. He does kinda sound like jeff goldblum, haha

  • @Chroma2021 Not talking about cosmetic stuff. Brake/ clutch levers turn signals, shifter, handle bars. windscreen etc. You also learn far slower on a 600 then 250. You beginner rider can' open a 600 up on the backroads and because of that ends up going slower than someone on a 250.

  • @Chroma2021 An older 600 fairings and other parts you will break when you drop it are still more expensive than a new 250.

  • @Chroma2021 as Mordeth would say, why buy a powerful bike and then ride it like a pussy because you're inexperienced...learn to ride a slow bike fast. one thing I'll say about 600's is they don't usually make a lot of torque so provided it's not some race replica it can be fairly forgiving. I would say if buying a 600 as a first bike, find one with generous steering lock

  • nothing wrong with a 600 as a starter you can learn on it and not get tired of it

  • hey man nice video. i want to get a 600 when i get my license but iv had different opinions on what size to start on. i have a cr125r 2 stroke dirt bike with lots of experience on dirtbikes iv had it up to 108km just to see what it would do. trust me ill never do it on dirt again. im not going to be a crazy ass like some guys going down the highway like at 160, thats insane and i love my life. i will repect a bike of it power and my ability of rideing it.

oh do you have to wear a helmet there.

  • @46000rpm I don't have to because I'm over 18 years old. That is the Montana law. Sounds like you are on the right track!

  • @46000rpm if you aren't going to break the 160kmph barrier then I suggest you lay off the 600, and join the 250 club instead, I went at least 140kmph on my 250, i didn't dare to push further as i was on the highway at night, pure stock carb model. May I also suggest that you look into bigger CC motards, they're much easier to commute in town with imo.

  • Holy TITS your vid got a lot of views man haha. nice work

  • @c90FTW thanks?

  • im looking to buy my first bike and i find all these 600-800 for less than $1000 and newer 250s for over 3grand so would buying a upper hundreds be an "ok" starter?

  • @lonelamon If they are older or if you are comfortable on them then sure. Loosing a 1-2k bike isn't a big deal but your life is.

  • Hahahahaha pilot powers for 500? Whoever sold you those charged almost twice a's much... I just put a set of pilot power DUAL COMPOUND on my first bike (Gsxr 600) that I use to commute (guess I'm retarded) for 300 bucks. And why are you talking about your 03/04 r6 like it's a zx14? It's just a 600!!!

  • I just bought the Yamaha FZ8, which is an 800 (...well...779), as my first motorcycle. So far it hasnt given me the slightest bit of trouble, and feels totally natural.. but then again I am a very very cautious operator. I have been accustomed to high displacement quads for a long time, so I think that helps with understanding the amount of power you are dealing with, and how quickly it can kick your ass.

  • im looking for a first bike im 5'6 and i want a bike that has enough power to drive on highways and interstates but not something thats to big for me to handle, would u recommend the 250?

  • @flamingflattier If I were you I would consider the Ninja 650R, FZ6R, SV650.

  • @flamingflattier ninja 250 ftw. i love my ninja.

  • Welp will be getting my gsxr 600 as a 1st bike rode a 250 in the msf course and I realize its all about clutch control...soon as i get it tho I'm heading to a empty parking lot to bond with"my precious" lol

  • i'm 5'6" and i've been riding dirtbikes for longer than i can remember and have definitely learned to respect ALL BIKES PERIOD. But i've never driven a street bike. My friends have told me that if i can handle myself in top gear on dirt bike on a trail/course, that i could probably handle a 250 or 600 streetbike. Is this bullshit or some legitimate insight?

  • @HookedonCronix I'm not sure. I am pretty confident that you could start on just about anything you want other than a liter though. A 250 may be to small for you power wise though. See what you can get that you like without busting the bank. Also, let me know what you get lol

  • Bought an 09 ninja 605r for my first bike and i love the hell outta that thing. I did consider buying a 250 for the cost and the mpg but im glad i didnt. The 650 is great for a new or intermediate rider who is on the taller side and looking for a bike that gives a comfortable ride with a good amount of power and fun when you want it. Im 6'3 and let me tell ya, there is no way in hell i would fit on a 250 and be comfortable. My knees would be above the tank and the seat kinda hurts.

  • @xSynergyProductions Yeah the seat is pretty firm. Thanks for the input!

  • I am looking to buy my first motorcycle relatively soon, I have never ridden one, but i have ridden mopeds, i am a very good bicyclist (used to commute on one) and my first two cars have both been modified Mustang GTs with manual transmissions, so I know how to shift and have a respect for RWD vehicles with too much power, I'm also 6'5" and about 300 lbs, what do you think is the biggest sportbike/standard style motorcycle i could start with that would give me good power but not kill me?

  • @puppykicker54 Well, any bike can kill you. Power to weight though any 600 would have more than a very high end sports car. But, try a few different bikes and see what you like. Seeing as you are so tall, Kawasaki Versys, Yamaha FZ6 etc. Larger bikes. But if you want a 600 SS and can respect it, go for it man! I would note that most 600SS bikes are very uncomfortable especially for taller people like us.

  • is a gsxr600 too big for a guy who is 5'7"???

  • @7xrepiv No, but as a first bike, -In my opinion- yes.

  • @starhobo14 lol. my friend who is a girl got her first bike as a 01 yamaha 1000 and she hasnt wrecked yet, but she is a terrible driver. smh

anyways i like the 250cc, they look good, pretty dang fast (honda rebel is slow), and get AMAZING MPG! my honda metro II gets like 91mpg and it is a 49cc with 1/5 of the power which isnt worth the mpg. you should try a gasoline preheater on you carbureted ninja 250. on cars ive seen 15-30% gains on carbies, not FI.

so it would go from honestly about 61-80

  • @7xrepiv It really depends on "what" you're looking for in a bike and "who" you are. If you've taken the MSF course and feel comfortable, then NO. If you're a responsible rider, NO. I'm 5'7" and my first bike was the Katana 750, very heavy bike (over 500lbs full of fuel) with decent power. It wouldn't blow a GSXR off the road or anything, but it didn't crawl either. If you have not taken the MSF course, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING UNTIL YOU TAKE THE COURSE!!

  • Got a 2000 Katana 600 for my first bike ever. Yes I dropped it a couple times in the first hundred miles but only at a stop and the owner before had done the same to it already. Overall its been a great first bike for me. Love the power, comfort and stability of this 600! Its not a track bike like the R6, its called a sport-touring bike and I can take it for long several hour rides and be a lot more comfortable than you would be on your R6 plus get 60mpg.

  • Videos like this have made me decide on a 250. Was gonna get a 600 to start with, you may have saved my life!

  • @rankore69 Also consider there are other options. Don't get the 250 JUST because I said it's good. Try them for yourself. Even if the dealers wont let you ride one catch some people you know and try it. Consider other options as well like the 650R, SV650. If you like the high reving 4 banger look at the FZ6 and FZ6R. Thanks for the comment! Also, if you'r not subbed but like my videos, consider subbing!

  • what would you buy if you wanted more power than the 250 but less than the 600

  • @tFrampage FZ6, Ninja 650R, SV650

  • @starhobo14 how is fz6, ninja 650r,sv650 less power than 600, but the names say more than 600?

  • @Drifter425 They have more torque, not more HP. The '600' is the engine size, has very little to do with power.

  • @starhobo14 I'm going to the shop tomorrow to look and I'm either gonna look at r6s gsxr750s or r1s so I'll see I rode my friends 750 and I handled it fairly easily so thank you for the adivse

  • i have been on the road for 3 years on a 50cc 100cc and 125cc commuters, and ridden off road before that. would it be wize to buy a cb 600 hornet or 600cc bandit as first big bike??

  • @progameruk1 Yep, you have the basics and just about any bigger bike would be fine. Just be careful of the power and power band. Thanks for the comment and if you like my vids consider subbing!

  • @starhobo14 I've ridden a 50cc scooter (seems pretty bad but it does go pretty fast) through heavy traffic for a long time. Would a 250 be right for me or a 600? I've ridden my friends 125cc dirtbike before and I can handle it pretty well.

  • @MxCliche If you ride through heavy traffic you probably wont like most 600 SS bikes. The upright positioning of the 250/650/Z1000 etc. make them all ideal for working with traffic. But yeah, get what you want just keep cost in mind once you get into the bigger bikes. Consider what you can get used etc. Let me know how it goes!

  • @starhobo14 Probably going with a 250 and getting a 600 when I graduate College. Gives me 4 years to practice and master it. I'm sure I'll have tons of fun on a 250, I definitely don't need to be going 180mph...

  • Hey guys I've been riding dirt bikes all my life and now I'm wanting to get into street bikes so idk What to get I ride 250s and 450s and i can't decide on a 250 or a 600 can someone please give some advice or tell me what size would be good for me

  • @dragracing4life1 If you have that sort of experience, get what you want outside of the liters. You may even be able to pull of a 1k.

  • I started on 750, moved to 600, then to 1000, then to V-twin, now current ride is cbr1000rr. 9 years of riding and have never wrecked in the street or track. Everybodys different man. I have seen people buy a brand new R1 from showroom as first bike and end up pretty good riders. I have also seen someone crash into a parked car their first week riding a kawi ninja 500.

You are getting ripped off on tires. Just Got a set of pilot power 2ct for 279 mounted.

  • @greenninja999 How is it that everyone gets tires for cheaper than me? DO you do the mounting yourself or what?!

  • @starhobo14 Buy them online after shopping around a few sites (some have free shipping) and it always good to call them to confirm that they are in stock. then take them to the shop. My shop charged me $35 to mount tires. Some times they try and rip you off and charge for tire disposal and other things. I try and find smaller motorcycle shops, not motorcycle superstores that dont seem to want your buisness

  • @greenninja999 Do you take the bike in or do you take off the tires yourself and just take the whole tires in. Over here they charge $60 per tire just to mount and balance. I thought they were a small shop, jeez.

  • @starhobo14 $60 a tire is crazy. It only takes them about 10-15 min. I would shop around your area and compair prices.

  • @greenninja999 Will do now lol, thanks for the input!

  • lmfao 8:00

  • Mini bikes are better!

  • can i start with the hornet cb600?

  • @BobDeesh You can, if you are precise and comfortable with the controls. Take the MSF course first.

  • @cheezgrated i'll take my course by a biker dudes

  • Were you weaving at 1:48 to warm up your tires?

  • I started on 600 and honestly i got tired of getting smoked by the 1000's so i upgraded. If your scared of the power then don't ride a bike.

    .

  • I have little to no experience riding a motorcycle other than a few time son a Honda 110cc trail bike. Im getting a CBR 600 for my first bike (used of course) after lots of research ive found the CBR 600rr is confidence inspiring. Its easy to get the hang of and is fairly forgiving for most super. The suspension on it is best (compared to the top 4) and generally wins a lot in the shoot outs. I have a LOT of friends who ride. And as longa s your not an idiot 600 will be fine.

  • You sound like Jeff Goldblum.

On another note, I think a 250cc is way too easy to outgrow. I would say a non-super-sport 600cc would suit most "normal" people. If you're a moron (or ricer) who's been in at-fault auto accidents, start with a 250cc. If you're super smart and learn very quickly (without mistakes) like me, a 600cc super-sport is not a bad option. A clean, used model from a private seller is your best bet for any bike- but of course everyone already knows that.

  • @Pube83

And of course take the MSF course! $150 and they teach you how to ride on what seemed like little kid bikes in a safe, cone filled parking lot. Although I gotta say a couple of mid-to-late 30's people low-sided during one exercise. The guy was a doppelganger of George Lucas...and it was hilarious (though I didn't laugh then, of course, lol).

  • Please no one listen to this guy. He has no clue what he is talking about. Who the hell spends $500 on tires for a 600, yet alone $300 for a 250. I've never spent more then $200 on a set of tires and I have a 1000. Look around. And there is nothing wrong with Shankios on a 600. I put them on my ZX-6 with no problems. I went from a 750 to a 600 to a 1000. And I can justify the 1000 all day long. A 1000 is the best all around bike.

  • @dlewis23 So you put cheap ass Shinko tires on a liter and then tell me I have no idea what I'm talking about? Alright, suit yourself.

  • i suggest everyone buys a fucking hyabusa 1500 with 22 inch rims and gold spinners for their first bike

  • whats the difference btween the 650r and her Gsxr?

  • Wats the difference between the 650r and the r6?

  • cool video man, but you didn't mention that the 250 looks kinda winpy, whereas a 600 looks coooool

  • So what would everyone recommend? I am a beginner (to be) and looking for a nice bike to start on. At first i was all for the ninja 250. But i began to think when i start to get the hang of it i will be craving more power so maybe the 600? Advice anyone>?

  • @18SIN18 Highly recommend getting a used FZ6. In the states you can get perfect condition low miles FZ6 off of craigslist for $4,000 or less. When you buy from dealer there is alot of hidden costs, you are better to buy used, and put the money on mods when you are ready for them.

  • @18SIN18 Take the MSF course. They'll give you 250's to practice on which if you're just starting out is a HUGE help. If you feel comfortable after taking the class then get a 600 and take it slow. Trust me after about a week you'll be used to it. However if you've never ridden a motorcycle and you don't want to take the class then get a 250.

  • I jumped to a 96 Suzuki RF900R. I got it for 2000 so I'm the smart one here.

  • Im 16 and I just bought a 2009 ninja zx6r monster edition and I can handle it fine. check out my vid. youtube.com/watch?v=9FBYOy4L2_M

  • if I could get a 600 sound on a 250 I'd be sold.

    :D

  • at 8:17 was that a 4 wheeler like driving on the road legally thats crazyyyyyyy

  • I was dead set on getting a 600, a Yamaha R6 to be exact. BUT, I want to live a season to enjoy it. After research, I found out, it's pretty much a straight up track bike. So I'm going to start off on a Kawa 250R and eventually move up to a 600cc. I hear a lot of my peers wanting to jump on a 1000, and I can understand, but in order to run, you have to start out crawling, then walking.

  • @HypermaxZ Well put but, try out some other options as well. The 250 may not be enough for you, you may want to look into a 650R SV650 etc.

  • @HypermaxZ

Haha crazy, same here dude! Yama R6 :) I'll be starting off smaller as well, should be fun!

  • @EverythingisFire

Glad to hear another fan of the R6 is also starting small. Another video logger explained how the top motoGP riders started on double digit cc bikes, and gradually moved up. And reason why they got god like skills on the bikes. You just can't expect to get out of the potential of a 600+ bike with barely any experience, and more than likely, unless you have a death wish, you are going to be pussy footing the bike, and how is that any fun? But that's great you decided 250

  • @HypermaxZ I am inclined to agree with you, but you should consider an FZ6 as a first bike (I did). They aren't as the flashy R6 but tuned for smoother low speed riding, and have an upright seating postion. I feel pretty safe on mine, just take a riders safety course, practice on the back streets, and wear as much protective gear as you can afford.

  • I started on a 750 and i am very glad, especially when I ride with my friend who rides a ninja 250, and everytime we talk, its usually about how he wants a 600, just sayin...

  • Doesn't make sense to get a 600. You're going to drop your first bike sooner or later. Why drop an expensive one? Why choose one that's hard to handle at low speeds so now you drop your expensive bike repeatedly?

  • @Jadervason +1 for you sir.

  • @Jadervason I opted for a 600 for my first for a few reasons and im happy with it but I still do recommend a 250-650 for a first for most people. Im pretty tall and well enough muscled to handle a tall bike. I opted for an FZ6 which is less powerful than most of the 600s but still able to keep up in high pace riding with no problems. But I DID put the bike down in the first 2 weeks, newbie low speed clutch mistake. I say 600s are ok, but not the track destined superbikes. Buy used.

  • @cougar32v This is America and I ain't about to tell a grown man what to do.

Having started with a wimpy bike myself I can understand the argument for something a little more stout than a 250. Evasive maneuvers in any direction will at some point be necessary, including forwards, and a Virago ain't gonna outrun a tractor trailer on the highway.

  • I own a R1 as my first bike n have had no problems so far , the bike is only as dangerous as u make it to be.

  • @zigzag8o8 That's fair. I just think most people don't have that kind of self control.

  • @starhobo14 okay yes i would have to agree with you on this one , bcuz many ppl just have in mind that oh they can just hop on and start doing tricks and speeding without knowing the minor things but yeah anyways actually how is that 250r , i was always curious to know?

  • @zigzag8o8 I love it. Wish I had more power sometimes but to be hones with myself I am one of those people who (when they have the power) use the power. I got in SO much trouble with my R6 just because I loved to make it scream. On the 250 I get really damn close to the same thrill, but with less of a consequence. And when I am just putting around, it's really easy not to speed. Back on the R6 I would have trouble not speeding just due to me shifting in the seat lol.

  • @starhobo14 yeah i know what u mean by using the power but it comes down to self-control which many ppl these days on street bikes just dont have , i mean i go fast but than again there is a place and time *no cops around* LOL . but nah aight man ride safe dude
