Our economic engine is more than capable of repaying our debt, but we need to get revenue working again. Spending has remained flat as % of GDP.

Us debt clock .org has the debt pegged at 15 trillion right now. Bush is responsible for 7 trill if you add the first TARP bill Bush drafted but Obama had to sign. So HALF of our debt was there before you started even noticing or worrying. Obama's spending to keep us out of a depression is minor by comparison because it will pay for itself over the next 30 years. Infrastructure, middle-class education, job incentives all create revenue.

These are simple facts. We ALL want a debt-free economy. First we have to make that possible. Tax the rich at a fair rate. Tax companies that employ overseas more. Educate our workforce. Improve our roads, rail, ports to compete. Adopt a renewable energy policy. That's how you pay off the debt.

Our economic engine is more than capable of repaying our debt, but we need to get revenue working again. That means improving the economy and business and then raising taxes on corporations and the wealthy that do not pay their fair share. Our current crisis was caused by tax cuts, not spending. Spending has remained flat as % of GDP.
