  • check out my theory on theoreticalphysics.webs.com

  • If you want to read a great book recounting the 1977 London to Sydney Rally, which Mike Dickin competed with Simon Park (he of the Simon Park Orchestra fame), it's called A Little Goes A Long Way and it's available from Trafford Publishing. It's an absorbing read

  • Those were the good old days, Mike Dickin and James Whale. RIP Mike.

  • Top man Mike Dickin

  • Such a loss to broadcasting and to his family and friends. I didn't agree with a lot of his views but I respected him to the last. Rest In Peace Mike.

  • Mike was a great presenter and he was the man who got me into talksport.

Does anyone know where the full clash of the titans from 2001 when Mike goes for tommy boyd, I ve never heard the show just that clip..

  • Tommy was on a wind up an Mike fell for it. Dickin is a legend though.

  • Mike dickins a true gent and a dam great broadcaster so bloody well missed keep up the fight mike where ever you are .

I loved his shows on the origin of phrases they were sublime.

    Mike RIP

I was gutted when he passed away

    Mike RIP

  • This man educated me more than the countrys education system.

I loved his shows on the origin of phrases they were sublime.

    Mike RIP

I was gutted when he passed away

  • Hard to believe that it's two and a half years since the great man was taken from us. He was an absolute legend of broadcasting and a man I would loved to have met. He's never been replaced on Talk Sport where nowadays apart from George Galloway none of the presenters can cope with a programme on their own and spend more time talking to each other with their opposing biased views than taking calls. I'd loved to have heard Mike's personal views on some of the adverts that littered his programme.

  • God bless him. They broke the mold when they made him. There'll never be another.

  • Where I live, I can't get talk sport. I only found out today that he was dead.

It seems that his health finally is in question.

A really good presenter that made you think...often I felt he was just a rabble rouser but I found him great entertainment.

May God (who he didn't believe in) rest his soul.

Thanks for the memories and getting me through the middle part of the day as a rep.

  • he was so intelligent he made me think about things just normal things like parking tickets and id cards he said he would never have one and i said nr will i RIP

  • He was the only reason I started listening to Talksport. R.I,P.

  • I Don't believe you

  • Does anyone remember his last broadcast and its subject?

  • yes....

  • Comment removed

  • TALKSPORT is a poorer place without MIKE, TOMMY BOYD, PETER DEELEY and JAMES WHALE...I enjoy GEORGE GALLOWAY'S show but all the rest are bland and boring now..

  • I was driving at the moment Talksport announced his passing.I almost crashed the bloody thing..

Dickin = Broadcasting Legend..My favourite presenter by a country mile...

No one's ever going to fill the big mans chair....ever !

  • just had to come here to hear his voice again ,,,cheers mike a diamond

  • what i would give to hear his attack on geoff hoon about 5 years ago when he proved what this government is..about body armour for our soldiers...hoon was ripped to shreads, superb Mr Dickin, the people of this island never took notice else this mob would be out of power but you will always be a legend of the people, bless the family of this icon of a man

  • Ive had a gutfull

  • I had the pleasure of knowing Mike personally - my dad was his best mate until their relationship broke down in the early 90s. It involved a woman, needless to say. The two of them competed in the '77 London to Sydney Rally and I always remember Mike slumped in the sofa, slugging down all my dad's best grog and pinching all my fags, whilst regaling us with stories about London's B list celebs and railing against all and sundry. I will always remember him as the first adult I ever heard fart.

  • Mike Dickin was an odious man, and he is in a warm place now

  • loved his show on talksport.......rip

  • Thanks for this tribute to mike Dickin!! He was a true legend, I had many laughs listening to his show!! I still can't believe he's gone, But he will never be forgotten! RIP Mike DICKIN.

  • this guy realy made me laugh!driving trucks through europe at night he made the hours fly by,i still miss him,rip

  • he's gone and what r we left with ? a load of self opinionated affected trash radio idiots, they know nothing but can talk for hours about it. Dickin just cut through the crap - that's all. we got to the heart of issues. quickly. it was just good radio and nobody does it now. if u can't see that you're the kind of idiot he'd delight in showing up

  • This guy really was a true legend. I was gutted upon hearing of his passing but I was fortunate enough to have listened to him for years and he was great company throughout that time.

  • CLASSIC DICKIN:

Caller: ive got something to say but you might cut me off...

Mike: No No there are no restrictions on this show..

Caller: Well ive always been under the impression that a good wanks better then a bad fuck anyway...

Mike: errr, yeah I suppose thats true

Caller: and if its between 2 consenting people then,ya know whats the harm?

    Mike: quite right.

    :)

  • I loved the way he hated the word "basically", So do I, it drives me up the wall!

I even heard him say "F**ked" one night and get away with it.

    Legend.

  • ive had a gutful , wonder what mike would have said about james whales getting the tin tack ,

  • funny life, remember listening to him whe diana died, then it was his turn.sad

  • i first listened to talksport 2 years ago and

MIKE DICKIN was the first broadcaster i heard..

    he was awesome

the voice late at night when half tired was just perfect..

    so sad he has gone..

his view were a bit right wing but he was a man...

    so sad

    R I P

    Mick Dickin

    LEGEND

  • You brightened up my schooldays with LBC Nightline. You Monday-Thursday. Beadle Friday-Sunday.

    Miss you both.

  • James Whale was not in the same league as Mike Dickin, Ian Collins, Jon Gaunt or Tommy Boyd.

  • mike dickin is the best and a legend

miss him loads james whale is sound as well ian collins is starting to get on my tits i like mendoza never heard tommy BUT GAUNT CAN TAKE A RUN AN JUMP OF A CILFF!!!

    LOVE YOU DICKIN!!

  • Wow! I agree with every word. Thank you for posting.

  • ian collins? that guy is a prize twat. he is so far up his own arse he sees daylight through his big gob.

  • Dickin, Gaunty and Mendoza. Legends.

    and Tommy Boyd.

  • Mike was without doubt the best presenter on Talksport, he didn't stand fools but he was a true gent... and he did believe in free speech unlike some of the others. RIP

  • God Bless brother Mike Dicken. May Allah grant him paradise.

  • How can God or Alla bless him if he doesn't exist? Rather silly comment seeing that Mike was an atheist?

  • It doesn't matter if he believed in God or not, we can still ask God to Bless him. As another great Talksport presenter says, 'we don't live in Cuba'!

I still miss you Mike, a true legend, God Bless, Rest In Peace.

  • The man was king of Talksport and he will be missed terribly.

  • Sad, he was good.

  • sorry mr dickin.r.i.p but james whale is back hes on tuesday night 6.00pm play radio uk

    good news!

  • they sacked james whale from talk sport ,what a bunch of wankers ,sorry but ive had a gutful what would mike say ,,

  • He was the best presenter in the country not only on talksport. Bless ya Mike.

  • Foxtail! You forgot his other much loved phrase;

    Twentyfourseven!!

  • What a sad loss to Radio !! How great it was to hear a man who stood by what he said, and actually meant it - not like the gutless presenters that seem to clog the airwaves with their meaningless dribble.

    Cheers Mike !! and thanks.

  • Mike was an institution and a very good man no1 will be able 2 replace this man -- i think jon gaunt is doing a gd job on talkSPORT 10am but never be replaced always be thort of Mike Dickin R.I.P.

  • all time great ,had a gutfull

  • Bloody typical, the only good presenter on TalkSport, and he gets killed in a car crash.

There's no justice in the world.

  • such a legend

I miss listening to him at the weekends

very contraversial, but always honest in his opinions.

    rest in peace x

  • That mock-fight between Mike and Tommy Boyd was stupid. I dont think it really summed Mike up.

He was more than an angry old man!

I listened to him from his Capital days and he could be charming and he could be very very funny.

I dont think his Talk Sport nights were his best days, if you know what I mean.

Good to hear his voice anyway. Thanx.

  • i didnt set out to sum mike up. however this was one of my favourite shows mike was part of. Im not old enough to remember his capital days. I heard him first at the old LBC. in my email i point out that the argument with tommy was all in the aid of entertaining radio.

Mike was ofcourse a charming man who enjoyed the fact that people called him mr angry. I miss the way he was able to hold arguments with callers and spark debate.

  • Basically, I think you both agree at the end of the day basically.

  • yeah :D

  • I only had a chance to hear Mike at the end of his career, when he was broadcasting on talksport on weekend nights. Listening to him through a crackly a.m reception from an old analog radio, over 400 miles away on the West coast of Ireland. I had the privilege to hear his last programme with guest Richard Dawkins.

  • Mike Dickin was charming, witty, honest and to some obnoxious and irritating (usually to the moronic and inebriated callers and those of low intellect). Whatever the debate, be it speeding tickets, drunken hoodies terrorising the elderly, having to deal with rude and idiotic store assistants whilst attempting to buy a shirt that fit, the existence or non existence of god, vegetarianism;

  • Mike was always impassioned and unrestrained in his beliefs and what's more you believed what he was saying was his honest opinion, rather you agreed with him or not. It's what made him special, and it's why I listened.

    Wouldn't he just hate this!?

  • Mike Dickin died 1 year ago today.

They still have not, and probably never will find a replacement of equal calibre.

    RIP

  • mendoza is a useless gimp.

  • The weekend nights will never be the same again since he signed off.

  • RIP Mike-nearly a year since he dies. sadly missed.

  • Mike was the man

  • Teriffic work fella.

The Big Man would have been pleased.

RIP Dickin the radio legend. :-(

  • The best talk host of all time

Couldn't of said it better myself.

  • Collins and Gaunt are NOTHING compared to Mike.

  • A proper Mister Angry - he always had a bee in his bonnet. Ian Collins and Jon Gaunt try their best, but cannot fill his shoes.

  • loose the best presenter at the station, and they bring in the worst, grunt ?!

  • Mike Dickin was something. Under that rough, tough exterior was a man who actually gave a toss about other people. His anger was merely a a manifestation of his dislike of injustice.

The best talk host of all time.

  • yeah thats one of the reasons i miss him

  • Come back Mike and save us from a fate worse than the oaf Jon Gaunt

  • how about a life boat named after the great man.how lucky we were to have mike pass our way.

  • The truth is he was a miserable old git and very rude, he would always cut off listeners who he thought was getting the better of him in an argument.

But i must admit i miss listening to his show, got a bit stale towards the end though.

    R.I.P.

My health is not in question.

  • what a class act i bet hes had a gutful of god ,who can blame him ,

  • I wonder how he's getting on with God. I'd love to here that conversation. Rest in peace Mike. You were the man.

  • The great mans gone & I've had serious withdrawal symptoms since. Radio has become lost & other presenters just don't cut the mustard, he was a true icon to many & real legend.

  • Dickin. I did'nt agree with him on much.

But looking back, now that he's gone.

I think it's safe enough to admit that he was the best I've heard.

  • He was a legend without doubt, the angriest man in Britain will never be forgotten.

R.I.P Mike Dickin, Friday night slots will never be the same without you, I miss hearing you sort out peoples traffic ticket problems with your common "I cannot believe it!".

  • Legend without a doubt.

  • He weren't that good tbh. A bit of a depressing and miserable old fart.

  • get a life you loser

  • great to hear his voice just 1 more time. taken before he was due. RIP the king

  • Shame the background music is so loud. Good tribute all the same. I´ll miss you Mike.

  • The best Mr Angry we ever had. Wish he had been our PM

  • Well done, I still can't believe he's gone, and look who's taken his slot ... he'd be turning in his grave.

  • Comment removed

  • What a loss to us all... Im sure that you are sitting 'up there' and voicing your opinions.

Farewell Mr Dickin. You were the greatest and Ill miss you very much.

  • I miss him.

    So much.

  • When he was good, he was really good. One of the few people I wish I'd met but hadn't. Listen to the people who are covering for him and one realises how great OTHERS aren't.

  • Nice one Luke (it's Debut), Great tribute!!
