I get your trying to make the benz eco friendly but come on! Why would you wreak their best engine with some stupid seed oil.. These cars are becoming antique and rare and your wreaking the fuckin thing! Go buy a smart car and wreak it!
I don't understand why people are so quick to jump on this guy's throat for trying to show people there are other ways to get around than buying gas and diesel. A few questions for the OP: Do you ever go to fast food restaurants and ask for their used oil? If so what do you need to do (if anything) to use it? Do you have any numbers on how much oil can be used from fast food restaurants?
The problem is these Classic Mercedes-Benz aren't being made anymore. So once people start discovering how valuable these cars are for alternative fuels it will be hard to find one used on the market and they will be very expensive. The newer diesels are more picky about the fuel.
theres no real way out of damaging the engine if u only want to run it on the onefuel. if u used regular diesel for the first and last 5 mins of the journey ( redex in it is also good) it will clear the system of the offending bio-diesel, ready to be used again. i'd mainly use the bio diesel if ur doing long haul journeys :-) always better to start and end ur journey with the fuel its designed to take. until someone designs an engine hardy enough to take bio diesel or suitably replaces diesel
@fungus0roxanne i was about to point this out, but i decided to look at comments first to see if anyone else said WTF? when they poured the bottle of water with 3% alcohol in the tank. hahaha. might as well say the car runs on beer.
These guys are almost as bad as the losers who sell 'Diesel Secret'. Why don't they put that crap in a 50K dollar 2008 Ford? You will get away with using this scam for a while but eventually, the valves and head will be covered in black polymerized plastic coke. The oil viscosity will not allow it to be atomized correctly at the injector which will eventually ruin your motor, strain your injection pump and cause all sorts of havoc. SVO is a novelty. Process this stuff down using bio methods.
It is my pleasure to inform you that this car has gone nearly 200,000 miles on straight vegetable oil (with 10% ethyl alcohol mixed in to thin out the oil). It tolerates straight vege-oil because because the engine is an iron block.
It is possible to run crappy Ford Powerstroke aluminum V8's on vege-oil, but a processor must be used to remove the glycerin and saturated fat from the oil, an inexpensive process if done on a large scale. Look it up: ASTM D-6751.
I run BioD in a tdi with a cetane level ~72-74, Euro spec EN14214. Why don't you pull the head and show us what it looks like? I'd love to see a picture of the inside of the pump as well after 200,000 miles of that oil. Thanks.
Oh and BTW, If you think cutting a tankful of SVO with rubbing alcohol will replace the need for 190F oil by the time it gets to the injectors and having a separate fuel system you are wrong. (plus no purge cycle). I'm not even going to ask some other questions I have because I think I know the answer.
If you want I have some photos of my engine, Fiat 1.7L TD IDI tuned engine mounted on my Fiat Punto TD with 80'000km of SVO using.
The cylinder head was broken because of overheating (engine is tuned from 64hp up to 110hp and) but the engine was clean and I have only replaced the head.
This in 2006.
Now that engine is working without problems, it have 240'000km.
wow that is really cool. but how much does it take to convert a deisel car to burn canola oil. i am also intrested why in your vids u only use mercedes. can they still be used on other cars? thanks max...
Shouldn't cost too much, you only need to change the rubber fuel lines and filters, because the vegetable oil degrades the rubber. And I think you need to dial in the injectors, but I'm not so sure on that.
This stuff is great. Grows wild in Mexico. And can be cultivated easaly. In fact my wife and I are going to Mexico next week to start our Jatropha plantation.

Where did you buy the Jatropha oil from? I'm doing my senior level project on energy and my advisor wants me to physical testing on the jatropha oil?
thank you

We ran our Toyota Prado on bio diesel and the turbo diesel engine sounded really rough. The power output didn't seem as high either.

Have you had any troubles from the water that's in the rubbing alcohol? I think rubbing alcohol (isopropele alcohol) is only 3% alcohol.
