As soon as Norwood caught the ball his intention was avoid contact so he was going to drop to ground as soon as he caught the ball. Sadly Taylor Mays was already in range and when he was dropping to the ground, Mr. Mays' helmet and shoulder pad hit Mr. Norwood's helmet. This was far from intentional but nevertheless they did connect.

Mays intentions were to separate Norwood from the ball so yeah he was going for blood. Just not intentional helmet to helmet.

@lilze96 you based that off of very shitty teams. Tennessee hasn't been shit since what, 02? maybe not even that recent. USC was one of the most powerful teams of the decade and Auburn was nothing until 04'. Mississippi State and Arkansas are both unreliable statistics to go by as well. All you're saying is that the Pac-10 can beat shitty SEC teams at any time. Put them up against Bama 92' or 2009', Auburn 04' or 2010, hell, even Florida 06' and 08'. They would get demolished. Easily.

Yes this is football and a contact sport, but when a defender leads with their head like that at that speed it can cause serious harm to whoever they hit into, possibly even kill someone. The rule is there for a reason, he didn't even try to aim for the chest of the guy either, he practically leaped at him with his helmet down.

If you pause the video at 1:12 you can see that Taylor Mays was already lined up to hit Jordan Norwood with less than a second to contact. As soon as Norwood caught the ball his intention was avoid contact so he was going to drop to ground as soon as he caught the ball. Sadly Taylor Mays was already in range and when he was dropping to the ground, Mr. Mays' helmet and shoulder pad hit Mr. Norwood's helmet. This was far from intentional but nevertheless they did connect.

@WidowmakerXLS You are the idiot. I said Norwood saw Mays so he was trying to contact with Mays. Therefore, like most WRs he was going to drop to the ground to avoid contact with Mays. A very common technique that coaches teach their players when they are going across the middle on certain coverage. As "Norwood" was about to drop to the ground Mays tattooed him. Mays intentions were to separate Norwood from the ball so yeah he was going for blood. Just not intentional helmet to helmet.
