I have a phenomenal detailer and even he won't do engines. If you don't wrap up or cover sensitive electronics you could render your car fucked.

Late model cars tend to have plastic covers over most of the engine. Just wipe them down with a damp cloth.

Dude, first off check to see if you got any water in the spark plug boots connected to the plugs and or coil(s). Next did ya get water in the Air pipe (mass air flow sensor) and/or throttle? Sometimes just a little moisture will cause a no start. I recomend checking these things out. just relax, check ALL wires and connections sometimes the pressure from water can disconnect a connector and sometimes all it takes is one to make a bad day.

I just went to expertvillage website there is a video series by Dow Jones (yes his real name) that show's you the PROPER way to clean an engine. The guy in this video is a hack and I fear for his customer's. I don't know why expert village is posting this guy and not the other vid's! Cleaning engines is dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. You can do hundreds if not thousands in damage and void your warranty. Even set your engine on fire!!

1 Always make sure the engine is cool before you hose it down otherwise you can risk damaging the engine.

2 Cover electronic components (ECU, Distributor cap , DIS system, battery, etc)

3. Clean the battery with Baking soda first, often times acid can leak from the battery the soda neutralizes it.

Plus some cleaners can damage plastics and paint

Yes! Spray the whole engine, breaks down the grease and oil and gaskets, and distributor and soaks into the small spaces around electrical connections. Don't forget to compromise the integrity of your whole ignition system! It's very important not to prop the hood while cleaning the engine, a crucial step overlooked by most people.

he forgot to mention that you have to shield the electrics from water if using a pressure washer. i normally cover the distrubuter with a plastic bag and keep the engine running around 1500rpm to stop plugs getting flooded
