Greenwald is another spineless bobblehead who wants to be another Commie capitalist like Michael "Big mac" Moore. CIGNA did have a profit that year, a whopping 1.5% of revenue. Thin margin. Folks, with Obama win, the Bolsheviks are back. Greenwald wants to make more than his Bevery Hill buddies. And, of course, Ed is just being his stupid self.
As far as I see warlords of Wallstreet have prepared multitude of roadblocks to stop ANYONE even with the cleanest intentions and strongest inertia from making any serious changes to crumbling system. I feel like I am watching some movie about greedy one eyed tyrant that is bleeding the nation dry, except there's no hero with a back bone nor people are smart enough to catch on and do something about it.
@Vanderschlecht If you schmooze with da right people, you can make much easy money, and buy da gold, on leverage. Da insiders know which way da Fed and da markets are going a week before da chumps. Where do you think the Mercedes come from? Just be a member of da right tribe.
With the health care bill they are passing is just what the Ins companys wants. I cannot believe the president or congress did not stand up to this bill. It is a joke, I have read it. They can charge extra someone who is sick. They should have started over and got a good bill. Now you have Dems dropping out and not running again, and alot of them might lose there seat. I thought we had something this time but I do not know now.
@Vanderschlecht What is going to happen now is that, the Dems are going to lose bad next month, and it never will be funded and in 2012 we will have a new president and it will be repealed. I am for health care, but now why 2014... I have a type of Cancer that can be sent into remision but can come back.. I do not understand it not kicking in until 2014or 13 which ever.. and what you sent me is coming to pass....
greed is what is wrong with health care but the government will not do any better sorry to say it the only way to solve this problem is for us to put off our primitive fillings such as greed and lust and so on the government will do just want the insurance companys do there just going to tax the hell out of us it
Pay closer attention people. The corporations that are raping us are DEEPLY embedded in the very same government you are trying to further empower. Right now the insurance companies can not force you to pay them. They can only coerce you. Allow their cronies on capitol hill to "REFORM" the system and that will no longer be the case. The corporations are the architects of the current system and will certainly be the architects of its "reform." Do not buy their bullshit.
Why are you protecting them? They are the cancer. We need a public option!!! I'd rather have the government as the middle than a greedy CEO any day. Shame on the USA..
Billybonds007, you mean the private drug/food corporations should be held accountable? After all, it's them that are saying you should eat a burger then get a drug to lower your cholesterol. People who choose their lifestyles are to blame.
I am for the Public Option, if it gets us to Universal Health Care. My previous post states that people with an unhealthy lifestyle do suffer the medical consequences of having heart disease, which is the majority of the case. Yes, people that live healthy lifestyles get sick too, but are you going to tell me that America is the healthiest country in the world?
PS: Anyone who is sick should have health care and not go broke.
Not true. Ed has come a long way since he switched from being a Republican some time ago now. Do you ever listen to his radio show? he is getting good and now has MSNBC to say even more. Peace
Why do we even need insurance in the first place just to receive essential health care? Come on! We're a modern country. The government should be able to fund basic essential health care for all citizens. Insurance should be available for anyone who wants their own private suites and other non-essential extras. We're the most profitable country in the world with the poorest health care in the world. Unbelievable.
Making profit from peoples sickness like this is wrong.
People shouldn't have to sell all they have in order to live just because there country mislead them into eating bad good and taking drugs instead of vitamins.
if anything the government should be held accountable
What the hell is the point of buying insurance if they won't cover you when you need it for other than the sniffles? Is it just as a psychological safety blanket?
Been like that for a lonnnnnng time, some of them believe they'll be like the bosses some day, others just don't realize who they're really fighting for, and most of them just don't want non-whites to get any health insurance.
The oppressors use propaganda (folks like Glenn Beck and Lou Dobbs) to make it so the OPPRESSED support the very system that is fucking them over. They have been successful, in part, due to the plight of public education. The feeble minded are very easily swindled by people crying "Socialism!" when something is against the interest of the folks on the hill (the bourgeois)
Worked for the industry for ten years,. Its more than the CEOs its a personality of the people who work for the companies. I truly was haunted by the mentality of even the claims adjuster, the Billing clerks, and underwriters. The People working for the insurance companies got a freaky little highs when they could demonstrate their authority. Kinda like Bureaucrats in Government. Wouldn't want one or the other deciding my health.

Greed a dark cancerous spot in the underbelly of success oozing vile tendrils upon unsuspecting wretch
A miscreant beat lacking charity compassion or regret devoid of caring reason or ability to fret beyond the calculated chores of deception manipulation & personal mind set
A bloated swelling abdomen a collective ego feeding upon the life blood of societies weak vulnerable people curable only by prevention 4 cutting out the disease emancipates the social body to a point of suicidal redemption.
To those who would say "Hey, what's wrong with making a profit?" Nothing.
There are two ways to get rich, one of them involves creating, producing or inventing something that people want or need that improves life. The other is to create nothing and move money around in just the right ways in order to make more money. Both ways are perfectly fine. However, we have been rewarding that second type MORE than we reward the first type for FAR too long in this world and it must change. It's disgusting
These days everyone is clawing for paper. It's very hard for rich people to understand that grasping at cash is not worth much more than a mugging in real world terms, although in cash terms grasping, clawing, lying and cheating is worth more than anything except a ton of gold. i think we are on our way to a civilization break down. A robbing and stealing economy isn't much good. Not much good going on there.
Insurance used to be Insurance, now it's "healthcare" this is caused by government regulation that favors large corporations. There are 130 insurance companies and some states only allow 5 or 6 to do business. The large insurance companies and big gov are the problem. Public options? Single payer? You trust these people? Crazy.
All major insurance companies has a very highly paid staff that assesses "potential high risk claims" and I know this because I worked both in Human Resources and Employee Benefits for several major corporations. The people who come out on these lists are in serious trouble because they are viewed as a liability and are flagged to be dropped from the insurance. High paid officials of insurance companies try to figure out ways NOT to pay claims and when they do it they receive bonuses!
All I see in the MSM is the split of how many are for the bill versus how many are against it. The assumption seems to be that everyone who is against the bill is on the conservative, anti-socialist side. I'd be interested to see a further breakdown as to what the reasons are for the opposition, as I suspect there are many opposed for the reason you cite, which simply is NOT getting the MSM attention it deserves.
I know how he gets up in the morning, probably excited about his marvelous exploitation of people to provide his lifestyle or extreme luxury. Considering how many people in the country are pro-corporate, I doubt he considers his exploitation wrong.
Agreed: insurance companies should not deny coverage for pre-existing conditions or if you get sick while covered. However, you should not be forced to pay for health insurance if you don't want it.
Why, so you can pay for their coverage when they get sick?
Because thats what your doing right now for uninsured that go to the ER.
How can you be fine subsidizing the care of others through that but not making sure they put into the system they are highly likely to take from in their life, though if they are lucky, not til much later.
" you should not be forced to pay for health insurance if you don't want it"
How is one to determine what the populace should be 'forced' to pay for? What if a majority of people don't want pay for police, or roads, schools, ect... Should we exempt people that don't want to pay, despite the benefit (whether its direct or indirect) they gain from services?
Thank you for putting this in perspective. Can't believe how much that has suddenly got people to sit up and take notice of health care.
