  • Excellent! I've been wondering if P08 could do an old fashioned sound without sounding like VA but the character really comes through. But I'm wondering how much of this could be done on a mopho or tetra.

  • @PolluxPolaris Thanks :) Everything, since mopho and tetra has exactly the same sound engine, filter and envelopes etc.. and especially this song sincs it doesn't contain any chords ;)

    /Jonas

  • @ tngregory man thank you so much!! your comment really made me glad :)

  • impeccable up to 1:28 when it became simply immaculate!

  • Thanks for those kind words :)

    /Jonas

  • The best compliment I can pay is that we're Depeche Mode to play this song live, and it sounded identical to yours, the audience would be delighted.

    Superb cover. Well done.

  • This is the feeling, when man loves a machine.

  • Great advert for the P08

  • love that 80s sound!

  • Great :)

  • Great! Great! I will buy a P08 tomorrow...

    Thanks!

  • @JackOasys did you get the prophet '08?

  • So how does this compare with the Jupiter 8?

  • @maccagrabme what's a Jupiter 8? ;-) nahh just kidding. I couldn't really say 'cuz I have never really compared the two unfortunately. the JP8 is a very nice synthesizer though.

  • I´ve heard this demo from you Jonas and i was very impressed...so i have to buy one :-)...and yes!!!! i did it...together with my moog lp 2 and a dsi mono evolver and a kork poly 800 from my brother we found the sounds we like...thank you so much for this cover version..i love the pure sound from these synthesizers.....

  • @musikmann2008 Hi Thank you for your nice comment. Yes I really like the Prophet 08 and it can really do these oldschool sounds. Good luck with your music :D

    /Jonas

  • F-ing geat job! Haven't heard this song in a while. I'm glad you used only the phophet 8. It helps to hear what it can do.

  • @TaoEntropy Thanks man :) it is really versatile!

    /Jonas

  • Thanks!! I used the internal cubase spring emulation reverb to simulate the ARP 2600 spring reverb.

    //Jonas

  • Awesome!

The Prophet 8 is warm & fat, that Synth has some great oscillators & legendary curtis filters...

Nice piece, it sounds very lush and fat, love the layering or multi-track

What are you using for the Prophet? A digital dely.

I bought mine the 1st year they're released Serial No.#00223 and enjoying!

  • Perfectly done. Must have taken some time to match every patch like that. Really well done.

  • You gotta be kidding me - this is a cover version all done on a Prophet 08? That is amazing. If you say this is the perfect synth pop machine than I have to buy one. Very rare to find a demo without this synth going through major delay effects - which is often misleading. Top marks to you for this though.

  • @leeg32

Yes it is all done on the Prophet 08, there is some cubase mono reverb (Spring emulation) and delay but nothing too much. Other than that all is Prophet 08 including drums. I'm very glad you liked it :D Thanks /Jonas

  • @prophetate ... I bought one (2nd hand fortunately). But I couldn't get on with it. I really wish I had the patience and time to learn it, but I know I won't use it to it's full potential so it's back on the market, in the Sound on Sound Readers ads if anyone is interested!

  • now i am gutted that i just lost my bid on ebay!!!!!!!!!!! DAMN

Very good work. I will definately buy one

  • Very very very good job! I'm impress!!! A perfect cover with a great synth!

  • @gododinou thanks :D and yes it is a really great synth!

    Have a nice day!

  • I just posted a couple of synthpop covers all done with the Andromeda.

I guess the major "flaw" with the Andromeda is that it has a very steep learning curve. The manual is a very thick book! There's no way a buyer in a store will know how to program it on the fly. I remembered it took me about an hour reading the manual just to learn how to use the envelopes!!!

If you are a seasoned synthesist and are looking for a unlimited possibilities with excellent sound, than go for an Andromeda.

  • No! I would go for the Propht 08 ;)

  • I had both the Prophet 08 and Andromeda. In the end I kept the Andromeda for various reasons including raw sound. I guess it's a matter of taste...

  • @ManMachine2000 ...yeah you are right :)

  • Prophet 08 or 2nd hand Andromeda? I can't decide.

  • If you ask me, Prophet '08 just because it sounds better. But with the andromeda you get more voices and 16parts multitimbral synth. If you have the possibility to try them both before buy do it and see what you think. The P08 is much more easy to work with as well.

  • Really! It sounds better? All threads I've read people are saying that the Andromeda sounds better, but someone mentioned that the filters are better in the 08, giving it a much nicer sound. I was thinking of selling my Virus TI 61 keyboard and replacing it with the 08 keyboard version, and getting a snow for virus sounds, but I might get the 08 module instead as the TI keyboard is meant to be better than the 08. What do you think?

  • yes! that is my opinion. The Prophet 08 has much more bite to it than the andromeda. I wonder if people saying that the Andromeda sounds better has even tried a Prophet 08?

But with the andromeda you get 2 filters onboard efx, etc... but in the end it is the sound that counts :) The Virus has a fantastic keyboard but the Prophet 08 does aswell. but if I were you, I would keep the virus for the things it does well and get the Module Prophet 08 for for a fantastic 8voice analog synth.

  • Hi. Yeah I was toying with selling the TI 61 note keyboard, but I might as well get the module and keep the Virus keyboard, + the snow is underpowered and is nowhere near a 'knobby' as the TI keyboard. So I'm just going to sell some equipment and hopefully have the money to buy it next month. I will be getting the PE edition too - I don't really like those rotary encoders.

  • Also people were slagging off the P08 as it has DCO's not VCO's. Doesn't really bother me + I've read it has a 'slop' feature so the DCO's can be given a randomness just like VCO's drifting out of tune. TBH the audio examples on the DSI website are really poor. Its only after looking on youtube and watching the excellent Sonicstate review that I've seen what this baby can do.

  • The Prophet 08 has VCO's that are digitally controlled for the tuning. so the voice/sound architecture is all analog. but the slop is a nice feature :)

  • Wonderful synth wonderful song

  • Thanks my friend :D

  • i want this synth so bad...more then girls :P

    nice track 5/5

  • @maxauto44e

Thanks mate! yes I can really recommend it!

I have to comment on your very skillful piano playing, if you ever get a P08 I think you will love it :)

  • @prophetate i already loved x5000 when i touched the synth at a store

  • @prophetate and thnx for commenting on my piano skills :D

  • @maxauto44e this synth would be more cost effective girls are expensive these days....

  • @Taud soo truuu

  • Nice track. I am thinking of pairing my Minimoog Voyager with Prophet 08. I need it for playing live most of all, though. Do you use it live too?

As well, I am not sure P08 is not too sweet for me (not only your track suggests so:)). At the same, I have a feeling I would get sounds I really out of it.

  • Thanks :)

I used to have the Voyager as well but I sold it when I bought the Prophet 08, when I compared the 2 the Prophet sounded more the way I want so I didn't really need the voyager anymore. But the 2 of them together is a nice rig! If you ask me I can only recommend the Prophet it sounds fantastic! and is very versatile.

    /J

  • nice one Jonas

    Keep up the good work.

    looks like a nice machine

you can buy the module version for £999 from junorecords

maybe a christmas present to myself

  • Thanks :) Yes it is a lovely machine and I can really recommend it! if you get it,

I can send you the sounds for this song as sysex and some other nice vince clarke sounds :D

The module version is a really nice looking synth and a perfect blop blop machine to hook up to your computer!

  • @prophetate
