@EpiphoneArchtopLover... The problem that you don't understand is that there was only ONE model of the Gibson "Les Paul" guitar. Gibson didn't make a hundred thousand Les Paul's. Getting a star named after you is akin to having a sand pebble at the beach named after you. Stars are a dime-a-dozen. Anyone can get one. How many can have Gibson name a guitar after you???? Answer: 1. Les Paul.
@ColtDeltaElite10mm - I have to respectfully disagree with one of your statements. Gibson also produced the Tal Farlow, Barney Kessel and Trini Lopez guitars. None of those guitars, however, attained the iconic status or longevity of the Les Paul. Les was a true innovator on so many levels - what an amazing guy! He was also a very funny guy, he loved to get people to laugh and was great at it.
Les seems like a real extrovert compared to Chet "it's a GIBSON.. LES.. PAUL." Whoopty doo, you have a guitar named after you. I have a star named after me..
These two didn't redefine 2 guitar brands, they cemented them into history. Both are such unbelievable talents and add to that Les Pauls role in the electronic end of what we hear today.
These two deserve a freakin federal holiday if anyone does !!!!!!!!!
@tuxguys Avalon on the record is much better. They play it at this speed, then Chet decides it's too slow, so they step it up and really smoke on it! The on record banter between them is what really makes the record, them just having a blast.
There are a lot of reasons why people like Jimmy Page, a genius of the 60's respected Les Paul, a genius of the 50's. Les had rediculously awesome chops on top of all the other stuff he did. Chet is one of the world's tastiest players and can throw in the dazzle when he wants to, as we see here. Thanks for the upload.
Can someone please help? I am trying to find a clip with these two maestros playing together, they play two songs at once, I think whistling dixie was one tune...Thanks

Remarkable to see masters at play. This video is inspiring to see what true mastery looks like. It does not matter what the field or expression; what is inspiring in this video is the dedication, the talent, the skill, and the life force of focusing efforts to create excellence.

Les Paul may be a bit manic in his playing...but not bad for a guy with a shattered right elbow that was set in place.

"Avalon" was wonderful, the Les Paul interview was a scream.
The tune he's playing at top speed, at the end of this segment, is what is usually performed as a very polite waltz, entitled "Lover.")
