  • Maybe we should be making better use of the petroleum resources we have, instead of squandering them. Look at the waste on our highways alone - over-sized single person transporters everywhere. Do we have to kill our planet just to have that waste continue?

  • The key is to be responsible and competent we must not put more Carbon in the atmosphere, we are already in trouble, ie. 50% of the pine forests in BC are dead, droughts in Central Africa are longer, more flooding in low lying countries. My undergrad is in econ. there are countless growth industries that are sustainable and Canada ought to be ahead of the curve, i.e. telecommunications, renewable energy sector & entertainment are booming, horticulture/hothouses ect.. oil is at it's endstage.

  • @outdoorenthusiastBC Globe and Mail posted that the pipeline is worth 350 Billion for the first 10 Years, that would pay for lots of R and D if invested properly. Currently, Canada is spending zip! As for Ontario, Green Energy has cost jobs not created, hike electricity prices and drove away business. You have poor little old ladies on fixed incomes paying for useless windmills and solar power. Those technologies are great for charging batteries or maybe make fuel cells not on a grid!

  • Have any of you people ever heard of Nikola Tesla ? NO,no you haven't. Because you've been brainwashed, to believe that it was Eddison who developed the electric systems you use today. Not only is D.C electricity DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY!!!!!!!! It causes cancer and destroys plant life. It can KILL YOU. AC passes right through you, all day, you use a cellphone Nikola Tesla invented in the 1930's. Tell me what the !@#$ are you people allowing the suppression of FREE ENERGY for ?

  • @MaupoNaio Whats good is the world's greatest idea, if you don't know how to tell anyone about it. Columbus discovered the New World, not the Vikings or Natives before, because he told the world about it. If you have a way to create free energy then why not tell us, were all opened to it! Reason is you don't have it and no one else does, that is why were going to be piping oil!

  • @byronintegrated

What good is your brain if you don’t use it. What good is air if you don’t breathe it, or clean water if you don’t drink it? What good is a hunk of meat if you can’t cook it?

What good comes from not being able to monitor how much electricity someone is using, especially if its free?!

J.P Morgan wouldn’t fund Nikola Tesla because he couldn’t put a METER on it.

When J.P Morgan asked Nikola Tesla “ Where does the meter go ? “

Nikola responded with silence. There was no meter

  • @MaupoNaio I guess I am slow, what is this free energy your talking about. Could you explain how it works, what is the source, how is it generated and how you distribute to the masses! :)

  • @MaupoNaio I have books in regards to his work, I know of it, I also know that the renewable energy sector is growing rapidly which is great, it is such an interesting subject. A new windfarm set to power 30,000 homes is set for N. Vanc. Island, and a tidal turbine in Johnstone Straight. The engineers I know are great people and know of Tesla's work I think it will be integrated into the system soon, give it time, but keep reminding people. I know Tesla was brilliant and not forgotton.

  • @MaupoNaio The first step is we must be responsible and stop putting C into the atmosphere at the moment, the planet is heating up and this is a serious issue now. I think people living in cities disengage as they are not directly seeing the consequences such as in BC right now 50% of all the pine forests are dead, all around Kamloops the trees are dead, as the winters are too warm to kill the pine beattle, droughts are longer in C. Africa killing people and animals on the news all summer, ect

  • @MaupoNaio Great he did some experiments and made some lamps work wireless. Now try lighting a city that way, we live in a Nanny State that worries about WiFi! If you think it can be done why don't you it make you a Trillion, go for it! I guess no one wants to be a Trillionaire or his theories just don't pan out! :)

  • Multiple jobs or not, I would rather have my traditional food and see the natural beauty of my home village, kitamaat village rather than ppl jus wanting money

  • u r right buddy

  • @92rgreen There would be very little substantial employment created from building the pipeline, some for the short-term once built very few for the long-term. Economically the key is to build clean energy industries such as Ontario and somewhat BC, i.e. the new windfarm being build on Northern Vancouver Island. We can no longer keep putting more carbon in the atmosphere, the planet is heating up, some other species have already gone extinct, 50% of pine forests in BC are dying ect.

  • @outdoorenthusiastBC First the planet heating up is a good thing we live in Canada, 2nd why not do both! The controversy is why are we piping oil and not refined gas, typical Canada sell only the raw product, we can make a Trillion instead of Billions. :)

  • @byronintegrated The planet heating up is not good at all! It is very serious, low lying countries are having more flooding, the horn of Africa's droughts are longer, so people and other species are suffering, which is 100% not o.k. Canada really ought to be focusing on growth industries such as micro-electronics, renewable energy (wind employs 85,000 in US 15,000 in Ontario and growing,) telecommunications, entertainment, ect oil is at its endstage and we cannot put more Carbon in the atmos.

  • @outdoorenthusiastBC By endstage I mean the industry is not a growth industry. Countries globally are ahead of Canada in terms of their investment and development of biotechnology, greenhouses/intensive agriculture, renewable energy sector, telecommunications ect... Canada must be innovative, progressive and creative to be competetive and to create fun meaningful jobs, that people like and that do not negative effect other animals which is not right.

  • The governments, both provincially & federally, must listen to the voices of our First Nations, and the youth and elders of the Non-Native communities when we oppose Enbridge or anyone who puts us, our territories, animals and our well-being in such serious jeopardy. Any government must be put on notice and held liable for criminal negligence. They must stop such idiocy.

  • @deanne7777 yes ...it is time that we as fellow Citizens unite and "put on notice" our governments ...holding them liable for criminal negligence ...it is time to speak to this 'OIL production and transportation story' time to say 'stop' ...deadline for registration to speak is Oct 6

  • @deanne7777 Absolutely, if all the First Nations do not wish for the pipeline to go through their lands, then that request needs to be respected. First Nations have significant influence in BC and rightly so, this is your land, Europeans came recently.. The law is on your side, be sure to stand up strong, with high self-esteem, and personal empowerment. I respect the values of free enterprise but never at the expense of the environment, well-being of people, or other species.

  • @outdoorenthusiastBC First Nations are free loading squatters, they have no right to complain, they get no voice. If your a taxpayer and own property then you have a say, because its your land. If you get to live rent free and don't pay taxes, then shut-up your getting a hell of a deal! Rest of us 2nd class Canadians get to have a voice since its our land and our country! They can have a say, once they have purchase the property they are living on for market value and start paying taxes! :)

  • @byronintegrated

Where is Enbridge’s Affidavits of Effect giving them permissions to dig up the land, where did I and all the people who OPPOSE IT sign it?! WHERE AND WHEN?!?! Where are their Delegation orders signed from Congress and the Sovereign that they have the right to infringe on the territories of the First Nations land, AGAIN.

    This is INTERNATIONAL LAW VIOLATION!

    Treason. Since 1492.

You’re an ignoramus, and Ignorance is no excuse.

  • @MaupoNaio What does International law have to do with Canada's land and its people. We do what we want, we are a sovereign country, Are the International Police going to come and arrest us now! Canada needs to dissolve all First Nations treaties, lands, tax free status and privileges. The rest of Canada is tired of supporting this special class of people and being treated 2nd class! The only privilege maybe, is the "Right of First Refusal" to buy land at market value, but still Expropriate

  • @deanne7777 True it is very important to respect people's boundaries/limits, which in psych. means a person no I do not wish for this. The First Nations have made their opinions very clear, most of this land is still in the treaty stage, no means no, yet Enbridge and the fed. gov't keep trying to push that boundary. I hope the First Nations stay firm, and maintain strong boundaries, as in past history gov'ts have inappropriately crossed First Nations boundaries don't let it happen be empowered.

  • @deanne7777 I also think this is a really good opportunity for the First Nations to really claim their personal power. The best route to better boundaries is to consistently honour oneself. In past history the F.Nations have had their culture and heritage dismissed for various reasons including devel. or missionary schools ect hence I think some lost their sense of identity. The F. Nations are the owners of their lives, do not let any other culture or gov't try and fit your customs into theirs.

  • jobs < earth... i know thats easy for me to say because i dont live in the north and i am not stranded for a job but we constantly sacrifice our earth for a short period of employment. our government needs to step up to the plate and help our valued british columbians in the north find a sustainable employment option other than oil.

  • @username3183 Absolutely. Competent, smart, effective sustainable economic development is needed. Also individuals within their community can be creative and innovative to come up with environmentally friendly, interesting, fun and financially lucrative business ideas. I know someone who operates a Grizzly bear viewing operation, he does sound extensive marketing, offers quality respectful to the bears and land bear watching and has large revenues and repeat customers.

  • so the solution to this problem is that BC becomes a world class ship builder, providing much needed jobs to the area, and build the double walled tankers that are required. Thus providing transportation for the oil that creates more jobs for northern BC and Alberta. Multiple problems solved....

  • asshole

    a really big asshole

    the biggest asshole that's u r!!!!

  • @itnal hmm ...name calling ...even children know that there are other, healthier ways of expressing concerns ...I'm thinking that you are more intelligent than your reply evidences

btw it is possible to remove one's own comments by clicking the down arrow to the right of the 'reply' ...then click on the 'remove'

  • @coolcatz777 ...yes ..."BC becomes a world class ship builder, providing much needed jobs to the area" is a solution ...but the Enbridge proposal is totally outside of your suggested solution ...the pipeline would fill 'other' tankers ...if the Enbridge proposal had anything to do with job creation it would be a proposal of a Canadian trucking system in which each driver would be protected and honoured for the risk ridden job that it is ...at least then a spill is immediately visible

  • @coolcatz777 your comment is a worth while read ...I would like to add ...WE need to step up... better yet ...We would be 'wise' to step up to the plate NOW and say stop to business proposals that clearly side-step equal and mutually beneficial projects.
