@tshred666 yea i know. i said too bad this isnt steve DI giorgio but then i realized this guy was pretty good in his own right so i took it down hahaha
That's unbelievable, this guys is insane, best finger picking for metal I've ever seen in my life, I play with my fingers and I like to think I can play pretty fast, but I sound like I'm stuck in mud compared to this guy, this guy is just amazing.
@punkrockdrummer1990 I've been playing drums for 12 years (metal, lots of doublebass), I started bass just 3/4 year ago, and I think bass is much more difficult
@MsBUBBLES651 Cliff Burton couldn't carry this guy's bass, the difference between Burton and this guy is like the difference between night and day, this guy makes Cliff Burton sound like he's never played before.

okay okay, he is defo better than me and all and he is very impressive in terms of dexterity, but what he plays sounds horrible to my ears, that first solo he plays with the lights on, i mean what the hell? i've heard people play wayyyy better solo's with way less notes! plus the lights on thing is a wee bit pretentious.

As a bassist myself, I have to say that this is more hilareous than cool. Where the hell is the creativity in the playing? The slow music in this clip is ONE example of why the music industry has remained so stagnant for a while. The fast music is ridiculously similar to a guitar - YOU DO NOT use a bass like you would a guitar. I am tired and sad that this is where music has settled...to see who is more extreme a player...and to make a collective out of it? Awfully sad.
its not a competition... where did ou get that idea?
being a bass player myself, its amazing people like this that are changing bass in a good way. Cliff Burton, Rob Trujillo, and Victor Wooten are also very talented like this, and look how they have changed it all. The amazing bass solos, the use of styles, and mixing styles. It's people that dont like this that are making it worse because they stick to boring old root notes, just like the last countless centuries have.
Giorgio Terenziani is an amazing bassist - I never said otherwise nor am I trying to be a critic. My job is to play the bass as well. I just think that if you are going to create a collective like this, you incorporate extreme styles of playing (advertently or inadvertently)...that does not fix problems musicians, particularly bassists, have these days. I only base my findings on how they advertise themselves. The competition factor comes in after the established name: Extreme Bass Collective.
That also leads me to believe that movements like this comply to a message that you should only be able to play 'like this to be able to play at all.' Again, I am not saying ANYTHING negative on behalf of the players but the organization that they may be a part of is the issue I am trying to get at.
