  • thank you 4 this video

  • @alexsdhane1234 you are welcome.

  • Is there anyway to make this pattern for a hat?? I made a scarf and it looked awesome!!

  • @jairyde I have seen some people make this in to a hat but I have not tried it yet.

  • @tjw1963 Oh ok. I can't wait to see what yours looks like when you do it.

  • I don't care for the checkerboard look. I want to know how to do the math to make it look more like a patchwork quilt. I want larger squares. If I want 12 or 14 stitches across how do I do the math to adjust my beginning chains?

  • @tmbryant12308 I suggest you work one square to figure out the size you want and to get your stitch count. If your foundation is 25 chains and it takes 15 rows to make the square, you add them together for a total of 40. 40 will be your multiple for each square you want to work. Those numbers are just an example. I have not worked them to see if they will make a square. I hope this make sense.

  • @spiritfire there is a tutorial on how to do that. Basically its the sane principal but on the second pass u pull thru the last 3 all together and it will slowly decrease for u making it a half diamond and giving u a straight edge. If u email me, I can send you the video link. Kendrabogle@ymail.com

  • What is the multiple for this pattern?

  • @childofglass2 I think I figured 10

  • Hi, can someone tell me how to download the Entrelac stitch pattern. Thanks

  • Ahhh....this is me..."Wrap the Yarn over, pull it through...Yap the Ron over, pull it through..." Made me LoL! This is looking pretty cool! :")

  • Can you tell me why this is called the "Entrelac Stitch" and is their another name for it? Just curious...

  • @WindWipper Originates form knitting to create diamond shapes that appear to be woven strips. You use the afghan stitch also known as tunisian to make the stitch.

  • Hi, tjw1963.

I was wondering how to get the written instructions for some of your patterns?

    Thank you,

    dchurch9195@aol.com

  • @tupchurch1000 I have a crochet blog. You will find the link in the video description below the video

  • Can you tell me how to fill in the edges to make a solid straight edge instead of having the "diamonds" on the edges? I'd like to make the blanket I'm working on have a straight edge.

I've tried a couple of different ways & it's not coming out right.

    Thanks Teresa!

    Sincerely,

    Michelle K.

  • Hi Teresa. love all your videos..you're a great teacher and have taught me so much and wanted to let you know how appreciative I am. I only have one little comment and don't want to hurt your feelings but when you have already taught a complete block and basically the stitches are repeated everytime it is kinda iratating to hear you repeat the same instruction over and over again for each stitch. Hope this doesn't upset you but thought maybe you would want to know.

  • Teresa, I got it!!!

  • I love this stitch I'd never seen it before. I would like to know how to make the squares larger. Thanks for your videos learning alot

  • how would you do this on knitting needle and how many stiches is there a video on this for kniting to begging

  • Teresa, can I use the Tunisian hook instead of a regular hook. I'd like to make this pattern into a baby blanket.

  • how do u do this with one color?

  • i have a question, if I wanted to make an Entrelac scarf, what would be a good number to chain. I like fairly long scarves but would it be 12 chains per square, what is the width of each square from corner to corner approximately?

  • @evilkitty2007 12 would be a good number to use as an estimate. You could end up with some extra chains that you may need to sew in when it is complete.

  • I've been looking for this technique for awhile now and I'm glad I finally found it here. Your instructions are very clear and easy to follow. Thank you for putting up this video!

  • @reverendtorres I appreciate your kind words, thank you.

  • I have watched another version of your entrelac crochet, and I was wondering what the formula is for making it longer. The video I watched started with 2 squares. I would like to make it a little longer maybe 10 squares. Thanks so much for you videos I am addicted!!!

  • IM 14 AND REALLY LOVE TOWATCH YU CROCHET !

  • @lovelybonetiqqa You are at a great age to learn how to crochet. Thank you. I appreciate your kind words.

  • @lovelybonetiqqa I love to watch her too! I'm 12 xD

  • Thanks , Dear its really easy to understand the tutorial......

  • @shyangel77 You are welcome. :)

  • Thank you this is a great tutorial, very clear to understand.

  • @scotclogs54 You are welcome. :)

  • grab the yarn over pull is through ! that's all i got

  • @gorgeousspot If you are a beginner, this is not recommended for new crocheters.

  • @tjw1963 i'm young but i started crochet when i was 7, i'm not a begginer. i find your video's so helpful, i absolutely love them and i also love how you make complicated stitches seem so easy! i never thought i could do this stitch. again THANKS FOR THE AMAZING CROCHET TUTORIALS. i was wondering if you know basic knitting and you could do videos on how to knit an easy scarf or something like that. Thanks

  • TUNISIAN CROCHET!!!!

  • pretty hard!! :D anyway thanks.. it's a great help! although here in phils it's so hard to find a hook as big as that sizes :D

  • @aesthetic100 You can do this with different size crochet hooks.

  • Hi I am new to crochet and I really love this stitch.... If I wanted to turn it into a scarf how many chains would I start out with with the foundation? Thanks

  • where do i get one of those gripper thing's like you have on your hook

  • @MissouriAngel2 Those are pencil grips that you can purchase from Walmart or any office supply store that has pencil grips. Any type of pencil grip will work.

  • Hi Teresa. I've started with this stitch design, and it seems to be coming out well so far. But I think I've taken a wrong turn somewhere. The number of squares seem to be decreasing as the project gets bigger. What do I do????

  • hii . peace

  • @Pahiirm Greetings, I hope you are doing well.

  • Teresa, I'm trying to "see" at what point we are to chain and when we are to pick up and crochet across. Do we chain only at an edge? To begin a new group of three blocks? I guess I need an explanation of what we're doing. The visual is excellent, but for this new technique, I'm needing a bit more info.

    thanks! :^)

  • @BeStrixed If you are making a square blanket, you will chain every other row. One row will be shorter, the second row will be wider. As with many crochet techniques, you can find different combinations to work the pattern.

  • @tjw1963

Thanks for replying. This is such a beautiful technique ( I want to make a scarf); unfortunately I'm still not getting it, as far as when and where to chain as opposed to picking up and crocheting across :(

But I'll keep trying, though, because Tunisian crochet is my preferred crochet :) Hopefully, I'll figure it out.

  • Hello Ms. Teresa, this is my 3rd video today of yours that I've viewed (and I'm also a new Subbie now =)). And I loved them all so far. I chose this design to make a baby's blanket. I am a BEGINNER at crocheting and wanted to know your suggestions on starting this design as a FIRST TIMER. What would be a difficulty level for this one? Also, to start a baby's blanket, how many "chain links" would I start with? Thanks again for your wonderful video tutorials!!

  • ok...i've got the basic idea how to do it, including adding colors and making it larger. my question is this: how do i get it to lie flat? it curls up something awful lol

  • Have you tried doing multiples of 11 instead of 12 for each square? From the looks of it you ended up with 3 chains left over at the end. On another website the person did multiples of 10+1[3squares=31,4squares=41, etc].

  • I am using this pattern to make a baby blanket for my grandson, how do you finish the uneven edges and place a simple border, I am almost thanks to your great instructional video

  • @volvo828 All 4 sides are going to be the same with the pointed edges so they will all be the same.

  • @volvo828 or you can skip one stitch on everu row to make a triangle if u want leave a message on my channel ans i'll show you how :)

  • @volvo828 or you can skip one stitch on everu row to make a triangle if u want leave a message on my channel and i'll show you how :D

  • hmz... I am stuck in the beginning :D push through two loops :D hahahah can not get my hook to do it :P

  • Help my blocks do not end up looking like three triangles. What am I doing wrong. I followed step-by-step with your video. Help

  • Where do you get those...protector things on your hooks? I hold my hook like I would hold a pencil and my hook is giving me s blister. Those protector things would help so I can crochet and not have to take breaks ever 15 seconds. Thank you

  • Is there a multiple to this?

  • I have a question! Why when you did the last yellow block on the first row did you pull the yarn over through two loops versus one loop like you did on the last blue block on the second row? I await your reply...

  • @KingLeoChannel I continued working through the chain on the last yellow block and was pulling through two loops up until the last row. It can be done either way. If you are not picking up the extra chain, you will pull through one, which is the standard way of working the stitch. You can see how I worked the last yellow block at time code @14:00.

  • @tjw1963 Love expediency and efficiency of your reply. You are definitely a pro and now my FAVORITE video instructor. So only, when the block is the last block in a row and additional stitches are not required to be picked up. I think I got it. Thanks again.

  • @KingLeoChannel I appreciate your kind and generous words! Thank you!

  • Teresa if you can make the square bigger like 20 stiches I yes wonder how many stiches you will uses for the whole square 10 for the main chain and ten for the side that complete the square...hope I explain good enough tahnk you :)

  • If you were going to make a complete afghan using this method....how many chains would you start out with do you think?

  • @MoneyMom3 I would estimate 200-250

  • Hi! I love this video, but I was wondering whether you could do this all in one color without having to cut and secure all the time because that leaves a lot of tails?

  • can you do bigger blocks? am thinking around 20 stitches?

  • @gypsyroseism Yes, you can make them as large as you want

  • @tjw1963 At the Maryland Sheep & Wool this year I discovered both Tunisian crochet and Entrelac. I'm a visual learner and found boobklet instrcutions a little daunting, espeically Entrelac. Your videos and especially the slow motion are fantastic. My Question: For the video what is the multiple for the foundation chain? Is it the number of stiches you want in a block (7) times the number of rows in a block (5)? .

  • I love this one too..... I want to do this stitch in two colours but can't seem to find a double ended hook :( but I'm still searching!!

  • you are Great! i FAVORITED this video and Thumbs Up!

  • @Pahiirm Thank you!

  • Wow! This was so helpful. It sort of looks like knitting with a crochet hook, very creative!

  • wow this looks very simple and pretty i love this! thanks!

  • Hi Teresa. I love all of your videos. Thanks for taking the time to do them for us.

Teresa do you have a written pattern for the crochet entrelac.? I just love it. thanks :)

  • loved the stitch..will surely try this one..thinking of making a headband by making only two rows..thanks a lot..

  • Hi Teresa, I love your videos but I see from Spain and I have no idea of English. to write this I used the google translator, my question was could you caption your videos in Spanish? so many more people could do all the things so great that you think a kiss.

  • Hi Teresa, I love your videos. Thanks so much for sharing with all of us. I have one question. When you do your first row of sc, is it common to put your hook under two threads instead of just the top loop of the chain? I've always done it through the top of the chain. I'm just wondering if it matters which way you do it. Thanks.

  • I can't thank you enough for all your help through these videos. You're a natural.

  • I love this stitch, and your nails in this tutorial just perfect!!!

  • I love this stitch, and your nails in this tutorial just perfect!!!

  • I love the stitch... I like that you teach us how to make a bag with her

  • I have been wanting to do this type of pattern for so long, but didn't understand the directions. Thankfully, you provided this video. Your videos are the best at showing and explaining and always the first place I go to get help. Thanks so very much. YOU ROCK!!!!

  • @michelejohnson5 I appreciate the comment, thank you!

  • Is there a written pattern for this? Because I didn't see it on your website

  • @Carolina2004100 I do not have written instructions written up at this point. When I do get them complete, they will be on my crochet blog.

  • Love it , wonderful tutorial as always. This brings back warm memories of my aunt who taught this stitch to me more than 20 years ago. She made afghans she called the postage stamp, with a center row of 10 blocks and going round and round and round until the desired size.... reminds me of the trip around the world quilt pattern

  • is there a left handed version?

  • @gongabeans The left hand version will be available on Sunday.

  • hi, great design, thanks for sharing, i want to ask that is there any technique to make it a perfect rectangle, i mean to fill up the zig-zag on the edges, so that the corners of zig zag wont fold up while using it as a scarf or shawl. if any please send it to me..

  • @sabamoazzamarif I do not have a tutorial for the half straight edge.

  • isnt this technique also called tunisian crochet

  • @bunushnukums Yes, it is Tunisian. Entrelac is the block technique. You could do this with standard stitches as well. It is not just a Tunisian or Afghan Stitch technique but that is where it is commonly used.

  • Ah....I needed help with this awhile back and ended up teaching myself through a book that wasn't an easy pattern to learn lol. I finially got the hang of it through the internet and different websites... but I'm soo happy you have a video up, now I can just come to this whenever I need it.......Thank you!

  • thank you for sharing these great patterns. if i want to make this into a bigger blanky how much more do increase? what is the multiples for this pattern? thank you

  • Thank you soooo much for posting a video... Because I only knew how to do this stitch in knitting...but now I know how to crochet it :)

  • I thank you for your tutorial. I already know how to do it with needles so to learn it with a hook. WOW! I don't know if I missed it but it will be straight at the edge right?

  • Cool! I'm gonna try it out later, after I finish my puff stitch nook bag

  • what is the multiple for this? roughly

  • @MarkusFontaine When I first figured estimated for the video, I was thinking it would have been 12. I ended up with a few extra chains so I estimated high. Now I think the multiple is 11.

  • @tjw1963 thanks though i was too excited to wait for a reply so just added a load of chains and I had quite a few extra but still looks amazing :P thanks anyway ^.^

  • @MarkusFontaine I was playing around with the multiple and found out it is more along the lines of 10 plus 1

  • I can't wait to try this stitch out! :D

I also liked how you were explaining what you were doing and why you were doing it :)

  • @MarkusFontaine I appreciate the comment! Your feedback helps me become a better teacher. :)

  • I was wondering, is there some sort of way to tell how many stitches less/more you need depending on the hook size? I only have a size g which works for most projects and I will be getting more sizes as soon as I get a bit of money, but is there a way to do that? Thanks, I love your videos and you've basically taught me how to crochet. I knew NOTHING about it before I started and I looked up one of your videos and it was so easy! :)

  • @Anotherwizard312 You will work this technique the same way with a size G hook.

  • Thanks! I only knew how to do the entrelac from the centre out... This is MUCH nicer and the colour changes are fab! Thanks a million!

  • omg Theresa you make this look so easy. I'd love to learn this pattern.

  • @eternalsunshine816 It is a fun stitch to work!

  • Some weeks before I was trying to learn entrelac by knitting and had found, that it was not possible for me. So now I'm watching and see, how it is simple, easy, clear... I am happy, thanks!

  • how many stitches for a baby blanket and how would u finish the edges

  • @pmacpherson100 I estimate a chain of 150 for a baby afghan. You can work an edging of a single crochet or reverse single crochet.

  • So nice! But what means the word "entrelac", I was searching it throughout many dictionaries and none contained it ?

Thank you again for each of your posts!

  • @Irina1972able The meaning of Entrelac is to interlace. You are combining different colors in to squares, creating a woven look. You can also do this with a solid color as well.

  • This is an amazing tutorial. Thank you so much for this video. I love love love it and going to make a blanket soon.

  • i love this can you do this as a baby blanket

  • @tina242424 Yes, you can make a baby blanket

  • this is a cool pattern, thank you

  • yaay awesome video Teresa.. bt cud please lemme know how many chain count i need for scarf... ;-)

  • Uuuuuhhh!
