  • If you had used PVC glue it would not have fell apart.

  • Guys, all I hear is keep it cheap, cheap, cheap but on the long run it's cost a lot more in repairs esp. All the extra labour?? Do it right first time, cheaper in the long run.

  • Bless you Its My DReam Organic

  • I'm putting together a hoop house now (I'm in So. Vermont). With our snow loads, I built it with 1/ 3/8" steel tubing (chain link fence top rail tubing), 10.5' pieces and bought a pipe bender for about $60. The hoops are strong enough to hang from. But I know that you're on a strict budget and want to keep it cheap. If we were close by, i'd surely give you a bunch of extra steep pipe I have lying around. Cheers.

  • So what would you say the difference in temperature is between inside the polytunnel and outside? I'm thinking of making a living structure of a similar design.

  • The temp diffrerence can be as little as 5degrees in the winter to 40 degrees in the spring/summer. The biggest problem in this tunnel design is condensation.

  • Condensation? How so?

  • Man, I need a nap.

  • The hammer stapler is so cool . I want one . Have to find a job for it first lol

  • were are you located at?

  • how thick i mean ?

  • How think is that plastic ?

  • I just got the material to build a tunnel. I was going to use wood for the center brace just like yours, its cheaper than the 4 way crosses. Why didn't you just leave the crosses in but take out the center ribs? Just asking since your trying to do it the cheapest way possable. I have 1 inch pipe do u think i'll need the braces running down each side or just the one on top?

  • So are you able to leave your poly tunnel in one area.. or do you move it around?

I know that may sound funny, but the reason I ask is because how you mentioned in your other video about crop rotation..

  • Also, what stopped you from making it permanent like your original plan?

  • Yo Pods,

Where you get that Polytunnel at?? Do you have a video on how to put one them suckers together?

  • Awesome Podchef! Very inspiring. Thanks

  • Great job! Its nice to see the everything worked out and looks like you may get few more growing seasons out of it.

  • I love that hammer stapler you use to fit the cover - what is that device called?

  • It's called a staple hammer. We have one and use it all the time. The staples themselves aren't quite as strong as the grip type but work for almost every application.

  • I dig the dogs...

  • Five Stars!!

  • omg cleaning they plastic is gonna take so long! carfull with what you use to clean it to if its to abrasive the scratches might damage the surface and not let in as much light... is it time cost efective to clean it rather then just go buy some more on your next trip to the mainland or am i being naive?

  • Actually, a hose with a car-brush attachment, some vinegar and eco-safe soap made with grapefruit, in a bucket were all it took to clean the poly. It didn't even take much elbow-grease. But I got very wet on a very cold day. Total time to clean was only about 45 minutes and that included going back over a few tough areas. Replacing good plastic would not have been cost effective or sustainable.

  • What a bummer! Good to see it wasnt broken for good! That would really be a bummer.

  • Try making it slightly pointed for the snow right???

    good luck.
