Life time alimony needs reform. A terrible injustice and all cases should be looked at on an individual case.. Finances don't always stay the same and alimony should be reduced as finances are lowered.
this is becoming the norm in the state of Florida. Truly an injustice.. How can this make it thru the judicial system and the judge not be removed from the bench?? It’s time the alimony laws be revised and be written to confirm today’s society and not from the 1950’s
Ronald Reagan's family had no reason to show him in his illness. This woman has every reason to force people to see how the state's laws are treating him. She is trying to change the laws, so that other families do not have to suffer the way she and her husband are suffering.
Florida's alimony laws take away his dignity and they take money away from his care. These laws are a disgrace to the entire country. There are few other states in the country that force disabled people to pay alimony. Florida's laws are out-of-date, out-of-touch, and they are taking money away from this family. This woman barely has money to take a break in caring for him because of his alimony=until-death obligation.
I don't think anyone is disputing the right for her to post her opinion on the subject. The objections are coming from this man's family being upset and outraged with the fact she posted him in his declined on YouTube! He was quite well known in the area and his family would like to keep his legacy in tact and have people remember him as he was, not as he is. There's a reason Ronald Reagan's family didn't post him later in life. Give the man back his dignity and rerecord this video alone.
Very tragic story.....the alimony laws must be changed. Permanent alimony is a death sentance. We must urge our Representatives to fight for a change in these laws.
@1999glider This woman is showing what an injustice has been done to her husband. Even in his state with Alteimers, he is still FORCED to pay Alimony. This woman has nothing to prove, except that she loves and cares for a man (her husband) who is being wronged by and injust legal system! Until you are in her shoes, you have no right to judge her!
@DrWhupAss The real story is about the archaic and antiquated Alimony laws and she is trying to make a point. I give her alot of credit for standing up and speaking out. The laws need to change!
To all those who posted this is a complex issue that can not accurately be weighed in on when you know one side so please refrain from all future commentary. And for those who commented that they were relatives previous to my mother I would like to see where in the Morgan clan you fit because if I'm not mistaken you have NO relation to Michael and all your loyalties lie with Linda.
I'm the grandson of Michael Morgan and Linda you have to take this down. My grandfather was a brilliant Physician and served in our great US armed forces as a doctor he was also a loving father and a cherished grandfather before this awful disease took him away from us. If you have any care for this man's legacy Linda than you will take this video down and allow for him to be remembered as the man he was and as the man his father would have been proud of.
I'm the daughter of this Alzheimer's patient. Linda, you can share your views you see fit, but I'm appalled you posted Dad YouTube. He is/was a proud man and he would NEVER want anyone to see him this way. Most people know how difficult it is to be a caregiver so there was no need to embarrass him publicly. Please remove this video and re-record something without him in it. I tried calling you first - but you were at the movies. Call me when you get home.
This video made me cry. Not only because of your husbands situation with Alzheimers, but also because this is happening all over the country. Lifetime alimony is unconstitutional! No one should be indebted for LIFE to an ex spouse. This is a drastic case, but gives you an idea of how archaic and antiquated these laws are. I can relate because my husband was ordered to pay lifetime alimony to ex wife. Some months she makes more than he does when business is slow. This is so unfair. Wish you luck.
This mans ex should be hopelessly ashamed!!! I would go to court and make her pay the fees to get it reduced. Lets eliminate lifetime alimony in all states.
For God's sake. This shows how because of illintentioned ancient laws, and biased, legislators, attorneys and all the rest of the useful fools that insist on keeping alive those ridiculous and outdated laws, are allowing so many amoral people to take advantage of the innocent. Women an men that are getting paid for being in a common law relation to avoid losing the alimony and for not wanting to get to work and live off the other's efforts. Let's end this abuse and injustice.
Its hard to believe that we have living in America laws that are so unfair and unjust as the alimony laws are. Florida and any other State that supports these laws should be ashamed of themselves. Life time alimony are you kidding me. You mean to tell me that in today's world a person has to be tied for life to an ex spouse and give them money just because they work hard and may have at one time made more. What a disgrace. Where suppose to promote being independent not dependent. STOP THE GREED
How could anyone after seeing this gross injustice forced on this couple by the immoral legal system of Florida not understand this is wrong. Wrong entirely. Wrong he ever had to pay his wife lifetime alimony much less pay it now as he lies deteriorating in his bed. It appears to me that since he is clearly disabled the ex-wife should be paying him alimony that he clearly needs for care. No married man should live in this state and risk this injustice. Thank goodness for current wife.
How can the courts allow this to happen. Michael totally depends on the care of Linda. When she goes out to the grocery store or to take her grandchildren to the movies she has to get a caregiver to come stay with Michael and you know that is not cheap. Wife #1 should have to pay wife #2 to take care of her ex-husband. Laws have got to change. $2100.00 you got to be kidding me.
These are the types of cases that clearly show the injustice of lifetime alimony. Why would Mr. Morgan's ex-wife try to support herself or remarry when she has a $2100/month guaranteed income, plus whatever she has accumulated after 20 years of choosing to remain single. When will the divorce ever be "Final"? With Florida's laws, it's never over, and the families, including children, are divided for a lifetime. Go to Florida Alimony Reform on the web to get involved.
Poor Guy !!! Bless is heart !!!! He has no clue to what is going on. But, His new wife gets to have all the duties as a part of the "for better or for worse" agreement. His ex-wife should not be entitled to nothing from him/her. His current wife should have access to all of his/their assets. Bless his current wife for taking good care of him even though it is hard to.
What country is this taking place in? Is this the US? What kind of sick country is this? Who makes these laws? When will they be fixed? This is a national disgrace.

It is so unfair to attach yourself to an ex’s income. Move on with your life.
Try to realize you are NOT a decent respectable citizen if you are relying on another person to support your life.
You are a private welfare recipient.
This is criminal behavior and the Florida legal system is a joke to perpetrate this on good hard working citizens.
Lawyers and Judges that support permanent alimony are criminals as well, money drives this behavior.
