I'm asm coder, and I know what hardware programming mean.
68060 isn't enough? (This CPU will in the NATAMI.)
Not the CPU power is the most important in the computer world. (It's just a Pc world's doublespesak.)
The NATAMI can run Pentium III (speed)level softwares with Pentium I (speed) level CPU easily.
It's absolutelly enough (for me) for writing genious games/apps. (C64 is enough also for great apps, its just point of view question ) (Is it ok in english?)
depends how do you look at it. AmigaOS 4 was project to make Amiga free of chipset dependencies. Is it that bad to use Radeon cards and Sound Blaster live? And it will be good to have Natami :-)
Natami: Waiting for the final product (it will not be cheap) and AROS 68k as probable OS (drivers needed)
beside OS 3.9
PCI cards for OS 4: Well, yes, its made in China, but it good components that also can be addressed.
What was Amiga`s best (chipset) eventually became limitation, and two major OS 4 features were PPC recompile and chipset free (or lets say more drivers). This was started on OS 3.9 with AHI and RTG
and is worthy sucessor since OS was reworked and advanced
Well understand completely what (and how do you think), but Natami overall performance
will be about old 100Mhz PPC cards (603/604) at best on raw CPU + performance of superAGA.
Yes, it will be super classic (A5000) but AmigaOS 4 also brings allmost all aspects of OS updated as well as couple of apps like Timberwolf (FFox) or Blender. AmigaOS went PPC after all, even that path is tricky too ...
While Natami is high end AmigaOS3 machine, this is high end AmigaOS 4 machine. It doesnt have custom chipset yes, but that was a goal of transition to PCI and PCI-Express: driver model. See last ProDAD DraCo: that was already RTG-AHI sys without chipset use. No limits now! What then you think of CUSA
An Amiga is something that runs Motorola code natively (specifically the last operating system released from C-Amiga) and has the Amiga chipset in hardware. If there's something in a case that does not do these things, it's not an Amiga. It's pretty easy really, not at all a matter of definitions or opinion.
And since AmigaOS moved to version 4, lighter definition is that it is machine that run current AmigaOS. This way of thinking was OK before MOS and OS4 were introduced and 68k CPUs and CBM died
Sorry but I didn't post that last comment a young friend did with out me know.he made the post.,But I will say he was right . A-Eon has their Motherboards made and are being tested. They have an OS. I have not seen anything from CUSA but CG/PS images from them. CUAS need to stop splitting the Amiga fans as an X86 system isn't what Amiga is or was..its not an emulation or Linux Box as well..
This X1000 from fly-by-night "business" A-eon doesn't have anything to do with the original Amiga from the 80s made by Commodore. Luckily Commodore is still around today and is planning a new official Amiga, you can find out more at CommodoreUSA d o t com!
To everyone else I'm currently getting trolled and spammed by this guy and jsuttonus , I will leave the comments for you to make your own judgments up on weather you think they speak the truth, after all freedom of speech I think is the most important thing in life and who am I to deny that, but one note is it odd that CommodoreUSA you tube vids disable the comment section all together.
@amigang It is odd that several people paid over $1000 for beta X1000s months ago and still haven't received anything, and in fact A-eon has gone silent on the matter. Right now in fact I'm reading a report that Hyperion is saying that OS4 is not going to be ready for the X1000 in the foreseeable future. Let's hope A-eon does the honorable thing and returns the beta tester money instead of just disappearing into the night.
Do not jump to conclusions. Board has to be ready and send to beta testing at some point. AmigaOS 4 is ready to run on sigle core and RadeonHD 2D now and that is beginning. Most of Amiga fans simply anyway will not have money for X1000, but at this point SAM 460 is avail at half X1000 price. If beta testers dont scream for money (as they will have the boards at half price too) neither should you.
Beta testers got their boards, OS4 was released 4.1.5 with X1000 support, first end user X1000 are in hands of users ... and guess what ... no CUSA Amigas yet, even its just rebrand of existing PCs! And COS is beta! Who is WAPOR?
@MrAmiga1000 Screw you, with your Fake Account, your Hate-comments against the Amiga X100 and all your Videos on YouTube, "Commodore-USA", where you even disabled all the comments. Since the Amiga X1000 is build by real Amiga-Fans (and not only "Cash-In"`s like these new Commodore-Machines) there`s no doubt what exactly I prefer.
It's now 2011 and the betatesters who paid upwards of $700 months ago still haven't received their boards, and A-eon still isn't shipping them. This for a computer that was supposed to be available in Summer 2010, and then Late 2010, and now after Q1 2011.... This is looking more and more like a scam every day.
The X1000 is just a hoax. It was supposed to have been released back in Summer. After VCF they started showing a printed paper picture of the X1000 motherboard mounted in a case at shows. Then A-eon came up with a beta pre-sale program and announced that would begin in November. November came and no beta boards but A-eon started taking money. Now it's the end of November and the beta people have heard no word from A-eon. Starting to look very, very scammy!
@jsuttonus It isn't the first timeline being broken though, be it by people involved with Amiga or other companies. November hasn't even ended. Also Hyperion are known for keeping promises and have allways done so AFAIK and A-Eon are one of their partners. Also hardware are being released by Acube as well and AFAIK they are a bit behind their timeplan as well. Don't worry... be happy :P
Im still unsure if they can pull it off. I loved my amiga when i had one. It was the best thing out there, but nowadays, Can it compete with the Xbox 360 or even playstation 3?
@davie732 That's the million dollar question; can it compete? Its no good thinking of the x1000 as a suped-up amiga 4000 though. Its a completely new machince. Theoretically similar to comparing a Playstation 1 to a Playstation 3. However, the OS has been designed to share a similar interface to that of the classic Amiga, albeit with lots more apparently. Saying that, the last Amiga OS I used was Workbench 3.0, and I didn't dig much deeper than making nice icons for my games
@nicholasthetaylor The OS is built on the original source code from Commodore but since it's been in development for so long it is heavily upgraded off course with tons of new features, looks etc. I just want to state that it isn't based on Linux or something like that. The result is that it's fast and, I think, easy to use. If you've used AOS 3.0/3.1 or better 3.5 or 3.9 the experience will be similar allthough much has changed as well.
@hotrodswe New features better had not be the best that they have to offer.. Looks only go so far! Workbench was awesome as it is. Some parts of it couls have been made more efficient, but that is taking away. Not adding to! I sincerely hope that Amiga will not behave like Windows. If it does, then I am out
@nicholasthetaylor It is *not* behaving like Windows. Hyperion knows what AmigaOS is about and treat it like that. The spirit and feeling is there so don't you worry about that. I would love for you to try it.

It's NOT AMIGA!
It's just a PC style trash, with ported Amiga OS.... (like pegasos, and etc....)
Will be there new generation of Amiga.
NATAMI.
And that's it....

@rasvoja
Yes will be good.........NATAMI.
Radeon and Sb cards are not hardware components.
I wouldn't like to code on chinese PC trash parts, what is labeled Amiga....
I would like to coding on AGA or SAGA chipset, adjusting sprite registers, copperlists, and etc.
This is the programming.
The workframe oriented computers, or parts (like PC) are not real devices for real programmers.....

Drivers are not required for computers. (The PC environment's driver mania, just a doublespeak...)
AHI and RTG are the half way to PC..............
The PCI cards are unusable for writing good programs (asm coding).
Would you like to use SB sound card with 2x1 channel?
(Sorry for my hard words, but you sit to much front of your PC.....)
New PAULA sound chip 2x4 channel 64khz with very low noise, new 100x faster BLITTER these are The circuits.......
But time will show..............
