  • : 52 -54 Bucky was sniffing Mickey how cute!

  • You actually worked on her?! Can you tell me everything you know about her? I am writing a short book on comapring Dymo here to Murphy, and I would REALLY appreciate some first-hand feedback! Beautiful shot BTW.

  • though its not as nice looking liek the newer one, Muprhy, that one seems to move aorund alot mroe

  • As technologically advanced as the new dragon is, I still love this old one. Just goes to show you, Disney can make even something as simple as a head on a stick and a bunch of black curtains seem magical.

  • DisneylandL1992

Disney's MGM (now Hollywood) Studios 1998

    Tokyo DisneySea April 2011

  • Oh My... in 1992 there was only this one show Famtasmic!, @Disneyland,Ca. My friends, it was New and it became the #1 show at Disneyland Ca. even so much that they had to Rake the edge of the rivers of America to accommodate the crowds that flocked to see it.

  • are you blind its the old one idiot

  • dont u mean opening nite? fantasmic only plays at night.

  • After reading some comments here, I think the new one is leaps better ahead of this "classic" dragon. Sure this one moves more, but we haven't seen Murphy is full operating mode, which I think we'll this summer once F! comes back. This dragon, while nice, simple looks sloppy compared to Murphy. "Plastic toy"....well I'm not sure how else you would construct it....yes she's a bit stiff....but again we haven't seen her in her full potential.

Big thumbs up for Murphy (and Bucky to!)

  • Do they have Fantasmic at Disney World?

  • yes

  • i miss the old one!

  • the new one has a better electrify effect. u kno wut i mean?

  • omg that's so weird to look back on this and to hear the people in the audience oo and ahh over it! I'm gonna miss the old dragon! :)

  • Thanks for uploading the old one. :)

I like the new one but I'm also going to miss this one. :(

  • Old Dragon Black Art Magic, New Dragon more Balloon or so it seems. Got to see the new guy sept 6 but no flame first show. Oh and to think it was just a temp show to pull folks off Main Street El Prade.

any word on world of color lake fill

  • I agree -- this one is black, angular, evil. The new one looks like a plastic toy. The old one moves just about as good as the electronic one, and each performance is different since it's a puppeteer. The new one's flame lighting the river is good, though. Thanks for posting this.

  • the old one looks like a plastic head on an old torn up sheet the new one ACTUALLY looks like a dragon

  • I just think the old one was more angular and dark and wispy and evil looking. I do realize the new one is supposed to look like Malificent, which means it looks like a cartoon. Maybe if it was darker. The flame is awesome. Doesn't matter....I was so blown away with the Halloween fireworks and the orb!

  • The lady said" Oh look at that". LOL Look at it now!

  • isn't this in disney world, not disneyland?

  • It's Disneyland. You can see the building on Tom Sayer's island in the background. Disney World's show does not take place in the magic kingdom. This is back in the early 90's. Disneyland's new dragon is way better then this.

  • oh ok. now in WDW they have a dragon just like this one

  • Yeah, WDW has this dragon, and Disneyland now has a new dragon.

  • This is Disneyland. The original Fantasmic opened at Disneyland in 1992

  • no its disneyland disney world has a mountain in back

  • Finally! 4 months of waiting are OVER!

I think I'll go see it in person later

  • it came out tonight! ahhh! we were all so happy! its so cool! :D

  • Just heard the new dragon is now on the back burner. It will probably be 20 years before it is finally in the show!!! Sad how they made the dragon the main focus of Nightastic, even though it was never there. Still love Disney though.

  • What? Where did you hear that? It had better be from a reliable source. Don't jinx it, bro! Don't jinx it!

  • I got the news from ABC 7 news web page. A news channel for the Los Angeles area-sorry, not sure if you're from around here. I believe the dragon will appear one day, but it will still take more time! Very disappointing.

  • Can you provide a link to the article? Because I've been hearing that Disneyland is trying to aim for an October debut for the dragon.

  • yo dawg, it came out tonight.

  • The new dragon is going to appear tomorrow with a press event early in the morning.

  • and at the 8:15pm show... it's confirmed by disneyland

  • it was supposed to come out today, we were ready for it and everything, but it got cancelled last minute. all of us workers huddled in my churro cart watching were dissapointed. :[ maybe tomorrow!!!

  • Nope, not tomorrow.

  • yeah, haha, probably not today.

  • I'm glad that they finally got it up and running. I might go thursday! Hopefully there will be no problems with it.

  • pftt it better be running! i mean with all that work if it dosnt tomorrow or thursday ill cry. its what i have to look forward too.

  • thats the old dragon

  • at 1:00-1:10 it looks like the dragon is saying "ok stop it mickey ok stop ok ow thats starting to hurt ow" (starts screaming)

  • me and my girl been there like 10 times this summer

  • Learn proper English..

  • this is the old one

  • ya this is the old one and I should know cuz I've been going to Disneyland all my life and I go like every weekend. there was never any dragon cuz of major technical problems =( . °o°

  • so theres not ever gonna be a dragon anymore? wait how about the old dragon are they gonna put it back

  • No. There eventually will be a dragon. The new 48 foot tall, full bodied, fully animatronic dragon was supposed to debut back in June. But they're having major technical problems with it. They're now saying that it will be debut in October. Let's see if it does.

  • I like the old one better... but thats just me.

  • You haven't seen the new one, so isn't it hard to make a judgment already?

  • Me too. New one looks like a plastic toy. But the flame is awesome.

  • the new one looks more like the dragon in sleeping beauty. the old one is like giant curtains attached to a head on a stick

  • ive been there four times this year and going again this month. =]

  • ive benn there three times this summer and everytime its broken

  • You've been 3 times in one summer? Lucky!! What do you live in Anaheim? I only get to go once a YEAR! :( I <3 Disneyland!

  • ive only been there once in my whole life haha your lucky

  • i just got back from a Double-header, two day Disney visit. and I've been three times before that this summer, and I'm going at least 3 times more before summer's over. Being local is great!

  • For real. Been there 12 times this year so far.

  • It's gotta be so cool to go whenever you like! I am sooooo working there when I finish with school.

  • good luck getting a job there! hahahaaa.

    it took me forever. :]

  • Really? What position are you in? Entertainment? Crowd control? Ride operation? Or do you have a more "behind the scenes" job, like in an office or something?

My intention is to get a park job. Something outside where the Guests are. I realize that I might end up as a popcorn vendor or a Sweeper or something like that, but that's ok. It's still Disneyland.

  • AHAHAHAHA. im a popcorn vendor/churros/lemonade/hot foods. go figure my job + custodial make the most money besides entertainment for the park workers. hahahaha. :D

  • Wow really?! That's cool!

Hey, what's the job like? I know you're on your feet a lot and you probably have to be out there even during the rainy season, but how would you rate your job from 1 to 10? (10 highest, 1 lowest)

Btw, what do you think is the WORST Disneyland job? So I know what to look out for when I try to start working there.

Hope u don't mind all the job questions, but I'm really interested in working for Disneyland.

  • 9!

i loooove my job because the people i have met are soo entertaining.

i dont think there is a bad job because the more you have to do with it [ie custodial] the more you are paid.

i mean, when you work you basically sell your soul to the mouse.

    hahaha.

    you are always working.

    but i love it.

    :]

  • Too amazing! I can't wait to get a job there!!

Why does school have to take so long?! Ugh!

I wonder what job I should go for...?

  • I just got word from my friends in the park and they are saying the dragon won't be around until MAYBE December.

  • the new dragon just got something went worng

  • Sorry the lift to the Dargon was not a "stick" but Thank You anyway. Oh and the Name of the Dragon was dymo taped to the hard hat of the man or woman, who worked the "Joy stick" that made the lift work ie: up, down, left ,right. Oh and "Buckey" was MGM Studios Dragon sorry if You were mislead. As of July 19 2009 there still is no Dragon. I say this because I helped Build the First Dragon with photo Id in the Dragon Lair.

  • @DamiensMagic I thought the name was bucky

  • i want 2 see da new dragon soooo bad when its gonna be at Disneyland someone tell me

  • lol

i loved how everybody just pissed their pants when they saw that dragon. Aww, i miss the 90's :(

    it's my favorite era

  • too bad you missed the 60s

  • Could you please post the whole video? Pretty please. Always wanted to see what the crowd reaction was back in 1991.

  • RIP good ol' traditional head on a stick Maleficent Dragon. Hello! Brand new, 40 foot tall, full bodied, fully animatronic Maleficent Dragon. XD

  • the stick was named bucky.....
