You actually worked on her?! Can you tell me everything you know about her? I am writing a short book on comapring Dymo here to Murphy, and I would REALLY appreciate some first-hand feedback! Beautiful shot BTW.
As technologically advanced as the new dragon is, I still love this old one. Just goes to show you, Disney can make even something as simple as a head on a stick and a bunch of black curtains seem magical.
Oh My... in 1992 there was only this one show Famtasmic!, @Disneyland,Ca. My friends, it was New and it became the #1 show at Disneyland Ca. even so much that they had to Rake the edge of the rivers of America to accommodate the crowds that flocked to see it.
After reading some comments here, I think the new one is leaps better ahead of this "classic" dragon. Sure this one moves more, but we haven't seen Murphy is full operating mode, which I think we'll this summer once F! comes back. This dragon, while nice, simple looks sloppy compared to Murphy. "Plastic toy"....well I'm not sure how else you would construct it....yes she's a bit stiff....but again we haven't seen her in her full potential.
Old Dragon Black Art Magic, New Dragon more Balloon or so it seems. Got to see the new guy sept 6 but no flame first show. Oh and to think it was just a temp show to pull folks off Main Street El Prade.
I agree -- this one is black, angular, evil. The new one looks like a plastic toy. The old one moves just about as good as the electronic one, and each performance is different since it's a puppeteer. The new one's flame lighting the river is good, though. Thanks for posting this.
I just think the old one was more angular and dark and wispy and evil looking. I do realize the new one is supposed to look like Malificent, which means it looks like a cartoon. Maybe if it was darker. The flame is awesome. Doesn't matter....I was so blown away with the Halloween fireworks and the orb!
It's Disneyland. You can see the building on Tom Sayer's island in the background. Disney World's show does not take place in the magic kingdom. This is back in the early 90's. Disneyland's new dragon is way better then this.
Just heard the new dragon is now on the back burner. It will probably be 20 years before it is finally in the show!!! Sad how they made the dragon the main focus of Nightastic, even though it was never there. Still love Disney though.
I got the news from ABC 7 news web page. A news channel for the Los Angeles area-sorry, not sure if you're from around here. I believe the dragon will appear one day, but it will still take more time! Very disappointing.
it was supposed to come out today, we were ready for it and everything, but it got cancelled last minute. all of us workers huddled in my churro cart watching were dissapointed. :[ maybe tomorrow!!!
ya this is the old one and I should know cuz I've been going to Disneyland all my life and I go like every weekend. there was never any dragon cuz of major technical problems =( . °o°
No. There eventually will be a dragon. The new 48 foot tall, full bodied, fully animatronic dragon was supposed to debut back in June. But they're having major technical problems with it. They're now saying that it will be debut in October. Let's see if it does.
i just got back from a Double-header, two day Disney visit. and I've been three times before that this summer, and I'm going at least 3 times more before summer's over. Being local is great!
Really? What position are you in? Entertainment? Crowd control? Ride operation? Or do you have a more "behind the scenes" job, like in an office or something?
My intention is to get a park job. Something outside where the Guests are. I realize that I might end up as a popcorn vendor or a Sweeper or something like that, but that's ok. It's still Disneyland.
AHAHAHAHA. im a popcorn vendor/churros/lemonade/hot foods. go figure my job + custodial make the most money besides entertainment for the park workers. hahahaha. :D
Hey, what's the job like? I know you're on your feet a lot and you probably have to be out there even during the rainy season, but how would you rate your job from 1 to 10? (10 highest, 1 lowest)
Btw, what do you think is the WORST Disneyland job? So I know what to look out for when I try to start working there.
Hope u don't mind all the job questions, but I'm really interested in working for Disneyland.
Sorry the lift to the Dargon was not a "stick" but Thank You anyway. Oh and the Name of the Dragon was dymo taped to the hard hat of the man or woman, who worked the "Joy stick" that made the lift work ie: up, down, left ,right. Oh and "Buckey" was MGM Studios Dragon sorry if You were mislead. As of July 19 2009 there still is no Dragon. I say this because I helped Build the First Dragon with photo Id in the Dragon Lair.

i loooove my job because the people i have met are soo entertaining.
i dont think there is a bad job because the more you have to do with it [ie custodial] the more you are paid.
i mean, when you work you basically sell your soul to the mouse.
hahaha.
you are always working.
but i love it.
