Just come across my copy of different morning by hot water .A different mix to the above but just as good.It was given to me in late 1978 and has hot water NO1 writen on the sleave will put on you tube soon.
Thank you so much for uploading these videos. My audiotape copy of Contact You has had it, and I've been waiting a long time for a CD re-release. Watching Fay Ray in pubs in Bangor in the early 80s ranks among my most joyous moments. Superb songs, brilliant band.
I recently converted my old LP to a digital file and was listening to Fay Ray, and I though, wonder if there is a video on YouTube? Wow... never have seen the band in any form, listened to them so much back in the 80's. Was working in record store and got this album, fell in love with them... hard to do on the West Coast in USA as I think they never even broke here... Great Song. Thanks for posting the video.
Wow, shit, this takes me back 30+ years, to Bangor in the late 70s, whilst I studied there. I missed seeing Hot Water on several occasions, and when I finally got to see them, regretted that I hadn't discovered them sooner - they were fucking awesome live! Had no idea most went on to become 'Fay Ray'. One of my mates (studying economics) was lectured by John Lovering, who seemed to be attempting, and succeeding in, a 'Robert Fripp' look.
On reflection, there are definitely Stooges and Shirley Bassey influences there. And the interplay between saxophone and guitar brings to mind the Dave Clark Five at their creative peak. Mind-blowing!

That first riff sounds so much like Rush's Xanadu, dont you think? jaja

According to the album's insert, Different Morning was: "(First Published 1978 on Duff Records - our independent label)"
I'm pleased to know that Siouxsie Sioux's 'Spellbound' was inspired by Fay Ray, and not the other way around :-)

marcdab, what you are hearing is the familiar sound of an octave generator pedal.
