  • Just curious - what brand MSM do you get and where do you get it? Since I have a bum knee, I am also considering getting a Glucosamine, Chondroitin & MSM combination to help rebuild it. There's a Liquid Health product Opti-Glucosamine that has all 3 including Opti-MSM. I might give that a go.

  • @MrApachejunction watch the video again. the brand does not matter. the two standardized forms i mention are best and are bottled in a variety of brands

  • @MrApachejunction get it on line!!

  • Just curious, is the NOW brand MSM powder the Lignisul you speak of? Says nothing on the container only that its vegetarian .... thanks

  • @MrApachejunction look for lignisul or opti on the label. if its not there, ditch it. i dont like now brand, personally, so would not buy it. bbut who knows? give it a try and see if you have results.

  • @RawHealingPatch - thanks for getting back. Since adding the NOW brand MSM at the rate of 500 mg per day, my energy has risen a fair amount, sleep is better and pain in joints and muscles has decreased nicely. It is the only thing I've added to my diet lately so I know it's the MSM doing this. I am also taking Lugol's at the rate of 20 mg a day. That's helped a bunch too. Down side, the mites on my body aren't liking the new sulfur environment and moving more. Bummer

  • Any recommendations on how many grams to take per day? Thanks!

  • @2healthnuts i recommend following what the bottle says, as I can only legally tell you that. but if you research MSM usage, you will find out that you can potentially take much more :-)

  • I thought lingnisul was the name of where it is made, I saw that on the internet somewhere

  • @lavvy2585 lignisul may come from a specific area, that could def be true. but i know its also standardized to a specific size and absorbability. my fave is opti-msm, but i know lots of people using lignisul with good results/

  • @RawHealingPatch

I had no idea so thanks for that information I purchased a pound of it and it is lignisul can you tell me who sells the opti. MSM is one of the most wonderful things ever.

  • @lavvy2585 you have to look at all the bottles. a variety of brands buy opti and bottle it. the bottle will have the opti msm trademark on it. check your health food stores. i know paradise herbs used to do opti and they are a great company

  • I found msm drops are they also good to use

    see

microwaterman DOT com / Rich _ MSM/msm _ water _ drops DOT htm

  • I buy my msm from purebulk.com.any exp. With them? I'm a raw eater for years before it was a thing and glad its catching on.your vids r great no wasted words. Gonna subscribe. Keep well.

  • @soulmambo hey thanks.. i am not experienced with purebulk... you would have to call the company direct and ask them about their processing :-) good luck!

  • @Gruffzz did you watch the video??? haha. i talk about the brand not mattering, but that you look for the "opti msm" or "lignisul" trademark. anything else is most likely unregulated and junky. read the labels, research, and go for quality...

  • can you tell me us a bit about MSM and liver detox?.....thank you

  • @chadrico2002 MSM can be used to help detoxify the liver, i know people who have taken it for this reason. but everyone's system is different. see how your body reacts to it. one sign of liver detox is an increase in yellow/greenish color in the bowels, as the body flushes bile. milk thistle is an herb great to detox and rebuild the liver. try one thing at a time so you know what s workin :)

  • Wow... algae making MSM.. goes up into the air.. comes back down in the rainwater watering the plants.. we eat the plants.... Anyone else AMAZED at how the circle of life works?? Or am I just lame??

  • @KrazyVideoChick not lame at all.. it's the magic of nature :)

  • i know a about ten years ago i took msm 4 a year i felt stronger and could work out much longer with out the soreness hair was and skin was very healthy i bought the stuff from the us military wish i could find the same thing i had back then

  • @stpensaw86 yes, msm can be very good for the joints, muscles, connective tissues :)

  • ok thanks i was told about rainbow light as far as having good vit but i cant find any msm can you give me a good company or site to check out? also what form is better pill or powder or cream?

  • @stpensaw86 pill or powder are the same. large doses needed you should use bulk powder. look for the two name brands of MSM I mention at the store. people using Lignisul and Opti are all over the place. you just have to look at the label. doctor's best is one example that uses lignisul.

  • how a bout puritans pride do they have good quality stuff

  • @stpensaw86 i , personally, do not think they are of the highest quality.. you get what you pay for and their stuff is ULTRA-inexpensive. i know many people who use their products and i do not feel they are worth the low cost. but unless you call the compnay and see how they process it, or where they get it, you cant be sure.... :)

  • how a bout puritans pride do they have good quality stuff

  • my cousin and I were having a debate over how you can tell if the msm you have is pure or not. she read that pure msm, when put in some water, floats to the bottom of the container. If anything floats on the surface of the water, it is nothng but fillers and is not pure. Have you heard this before?

  • @PsalmsNmyrrh very interesting... i have not heard this before. i have heard more about how the molecule is supposed to be very small... that some of the cheaper versions are forms that cannot enter the cell and do the work they need to because the molecule is too big. but there may be truth to what your cousin says. i truly have no idea and cannot give you a yes or no here. one thing you could do is call an MSM maker, direct or a number of them and ask :)

  • Great video--I purchase my pure MSM from this place called love street living foods

  • @vegsky3 yeah... they are good stuff, i think, so that should be fine... especially if you are feeling like you get results with it! :) thanks!

  • Great video--I purchase my pure MSM from this place called love street living foods

  • Really great video! I love taking MSM for my joints in a powder form from love street living foods (they also have tablets).

  • I recently purchased 100% pure MSM from my local health food store. The company is called LIFETIME. I bought it because it said 100% pure and it is 2500mg per 1/2 teaspoon. I have been taking 10,000mg a day. Do you know anything about this company? I'm just trying to figure out if I have a good product or if I have batshit.

  • I used to sell Lifetime products including the MSM and I think they were decent, but nothing to go nuts about. So, I think you are fine. If you want to know more, you can ask them if they use petrochemistry to create their MSM or if they do it by more natural means. i would assume you are fine, though. also, you can test it and see if it is working for you :)

  • Hi Julie. The Lignisul brand does not make the same sense it did years ago. The industry has changed and Lignisul is no longer what it used to be. Once it was an indicator of raw material. This has changed. Even Opti-MSM is made from petrochemistry. It is very tough to get this information from the industry but if you investigate it long enough, this will be the conclusion to arrive at.

  • okay, thank you.... we will have to search for other companies doing it without petrochemistry. i have heard david jubb out of new york (jubb's longevity) has the finest msm on the market. but will have to investigate. also, i think wild, rain-fed food is the best thing people can do! most of us tend to be too lazy to harvest wild food, but that is the best option. thanks, i will research more info. appreciate the feedback~!

  • Good info! Thank you.

  • you are very welcome :)

  • I added this to my "health" playlist. I have old athur in my right hip and the cold weather makes it hurt. I don't want to know what it will be like when I'm in my 40s.

I'll have to check the MSM suppliment has that kind in it. Good information! Thanks.

  • you're so welcome...glad this was helpful. take care of that hip! eating enzyme-rich foods like papaya, pineapple and kiwi can also help reduce inflammation. ginger and tumeric work wonders as well... :)

  • I'm adding this video to my favs :)

  • thank you...appreciate that!

  • Very informative! Thanks! :-)

  • :) yer welcome

  • great video.!! :D

  • thanks :)

  • is this good for teens to take?

  • If teens are deficient in anything, i recommend speaking with their doctor or naturopath. i cant legally tell you anything is safe for your teens. however, that being said, i have watched many people give this to their children and teens for improved skin, etc... parents have to decide. i tend to think all natural things are less risk than drugs a doctor will give you, but you have to decide if they can get what they need from food or if some supplementation would be good :)

  • well im 19 and i was thinking of taking it cuz it helps the skin

  • is this good for teens?

  • yes, it can definitely help the skin...sorry, i thought you were a parent asking me about giving it to their kids. haha. anyway, it can help a lot, but nothing fully helps without the removal of what causes skin issues. if the issue is acne, like i have trouble with, it is not until i remove all dairy, meat, soy and sugar from my diet that i get serious results. raw foods have helped a lot! but it is tough to be 19 and eat that way, so do your best! :)

  • thx

  • Hi, enjoyed your video. I just started taking MSM orally because i've got some hip pain. I've used MSM cream before for shoulder pain and it definitely works, so now I'm going to use both cream and capsules for my hip. Anyway, I'm curious to know if MSM is in Spirulina. I have about a tablespoon of Spirulina on my salad every night and I'm wondering if I should encrease the amount. thanks!

  • i believe there are trace amounts of MSM in most greens and fruits, definitely in all things grown with rain water like wild food. spirulina probably has a bit of sulfur in it (MSM) but not sure if it is a therapeutic amount. for therapy i recommend the MSM powder or caps and then come off of it after pain/inflammation are no longer an issue and do raw fruits and veggies from there on for prevention :)

  • Thanks for the response. Yes, I was just thinking before I returned here that the amount in spirulina would probably only be trace - not a therapeutic amount. I will report back here on my progress with the supplements.

  • "It's like drinking light"...I LOVE that description...thanks for such a great video...enjoyed it!!!

  • thanks raw utah! glad you enjoyed :) brings a smile to our faces! :)

  • if this is for human consumption, i am sure you can take it. some of the ultrapure is marketed for horses. not sure if that one is okay for humans. if it is not standardized like the two brands i spoke of in the video, i cannot tell if it is a good product. you would have to take some and see if you are having a therapeutic effect from it. if not, choose a new brand. thanks! :)

  • I just bought some MSM from Trader Joe's, it's the store brand. It doesn't say anything about Lignisol or Opti-MSM, so I hope it still works. I have gout and heavy metal toxicity, heard this stuff was good for that.

  • yes, msm can be very good for gout and heavy metal toxicity. as for who trader joe's gets their MSM from, not sure. you can try called their headquarters to see if it is good stuff or just the really cheap crap. hard to tell. i know all of their multis and stuff are no better than a one-a-day general type of thing. but the best is to see if it helps and if you get therapy from it, great! :) good luck!

  • I have read that Much of the MSM sold in the USA is actually Made in CHINA and is very inferior and contains alot of contaminants and debris.

i have found this to be True, for one example the brand that the popular Raw supplement company Natural Zing sells, is made in China.

I am in full agreement with MSM as its found in Nature, but im very skeptical of the authenticity and naturalness of all these Powders of MSM out there.

  • yes, most of them are junk and made in china or elsewhere. regardless of where they are made, it is important to find the two standardized versions i mentioned.

  • Every single MSM brand ive tried still tastes Extremely Bitter, even when dissolved in Water

What specific Brand do you Take ?

  • My favorite is PAradise Herbs. They have it in both capsule and powder. capsule is fine if you do not like bitter. i dont mind the powder because i take a scoop, place on back of my tongue, and quickly wash down with water. no taste for the most part. easy cheesy! paradise herbs uses the standardized optiMSM. some other ones that use lignisul or opti are: nature's way (check the label first), lifetime, etc.... you just have to check bottles for the standardized names.

  • Thanks i appreciate the info

In all honesty, did you Notice a difference in your Hair, Nails, Skin and less muscle soreness, more flexibility etc. since taking MSM ?

i experimented with 3 different brands, Not the ones you Mentioned, but i honestly didnt see or feel any difference

  • many raw foodists who eat a lot of organic, home-grown produce do not feel different because they are so healthy already. i tend to have less acne and better skin quality. people with extreme issues like eczema, arthritis, etc... also feel noticable relief. but if you do not ail from anything, you may not feel or look different. the changes may be very minimal. at that point i think people do not NEED a lot of supplements, but may like to use them periodically for extra benefit.

  • ...cont'd... keep in mind, also, that not all people need MSM, however most of us are deficient, as most of us are not primarily eating rain-fed veggies. i dont know of anyone near me who is. everyone uses irrigation or tap water, which is rarely from the rain. so... MSM is one of those generally recommended things for raw foodists to help them re-build. listen closely to your body's cues. discontinue use if you see no benefit in about 3-6 months. :) thanks for the comments...

  • Thanks alot , i appreciate sharing your own experience and insights on this, im gonna give the brands a try that you recommended and ill let you know what happens

    great job

  • no problem...anytime :) hope the MSM works for ya!

  • I've looked in three health food stores and I couldn't find any MSM products with the Lingnsul or opti on them. So I just got MSM powder by natural balance. I hope it's good.

  • wow, that is surprising, but hopefully natural balance will be okay. i think they are from the neutraceuticals company, who also makes solaray, etc... so it sould be okay. if you do not feel any benefit after a couple of months, you may want to order the standardized forms online :)

  • Hi

    thanks for all that infos

i got kala health msm crystals

but how can i use it ?

  • the crystals are generally disolved in water and then consumed. i do know people who put a serving size toward the back of the tongue and then swish it down with a gulp of water. msm is very bitter, so it depends on what you can handel. if you disolve it in a bunch of water you can barely taste it. :)

  • Hi, i got rich's msm max strength. Doesn't say opti on the label, just wondering if you think rich's is a good product? thanks for the video,

  • i took a look at rich's and it is very low in moisture, which is what we want in MSM. it looks to be a very good one and that they understand the processing. so, it looks good to me, but if you are still uncomfortable, you can call the company and ask them if they feel it is comparable to lignisul and opti. i believe it is, based on their info on website. they may also be buying optio or lignisul and not using the label to save money. some comanies do this. :) thanks!

  • I have read great things about MSM, but the only bad thing i have read is that it raises cortisol levels....i mean, I know that it is incredibly non toxic stuff and i like taking it in large doses, but being male means that if cortisol increases, testosterone decreases.....so is this true or not? what are your thoughts????

  • wow...this is the very first i have ever heard about this. no one, professional, or otherwise, has ever said it raises cortisol. i will keep an eye out and let you know if i find anything, but this is the first i have heard. where did your info come from that told you this? rumor? someone in the health field? etc... just curious. thanks for the great question! of course rain-water-fed veggies are the best option for MSM :)

  • hi again- part of what i found, is that msm can make the cortisol you make more effective...meaning perhaps it actually MAY reduce unnecessary cortisol surplus levels due to the fact that it helps the body utilize the cortisol it is making. i have not found enough research to convince me either way on the cortisol issue, but there is an idea for you to further research perhaps. earl mindell has a book on MSM that may be a great source. thanks!

  • a fellow health nut friend of mine had mentioned that it affected cortisol levels so I did a little reading online (not necessarily on trustworthy sites)......maybe I interpreted that incorrectly...I'd like to think your theory is correct, as it makes much more sense that it makes the cortisol more effective...I can't imagine MSM having any negative effect in the body....I appreciate your quick response.....i'm not gonna stop taking it now ...thanks again!

  • hey no prob, glad it helped. i dont believe anything can replace nature, so obviously pine needle tea or juice would be the best MSM option, or wild rain-fed herbs and plants, but for therapeutic use, i dont think MSM is one of those things people have to worry about, like crappy non-food multis, or other bad stuff... best of health to you... :)

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! YOu guys are awesome in the most magnificent wayyyyyyyyyy! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Love & Light (in brilliant amounts) 2U :)

  • Holy wowee woooweee! Thank you so much for these sweet words. We are so blessed to have you watching. your words are so filled with love and it makes us want to keep making more and more vids! !!!!!!!!!! yay! love and light right back at ya.

  • does it lighten the skin?

  • i have not read any research that proves it lightens skin. anything is possible, but so far there is no evidence of that.

  • also hve to make certain you start taking MSM in small dosages and to work your way up b/c I heard it helps detox mercury out of your body:

    AWESOME VID AGAIN!!:)

  • yes, we recommend starting with a gram (1,000 mg) and working up from there. not only is it a detoxer, but also can give peeps the runs...if you take too much too quick, then people say they are allergic to it, they fear it, and never take it again instead of going slowly. thanks thanks!

  • Great video!!!...When taking the msm powder....how many grams is one tablespoon of powder??? also, how many grams a day do you take???

  • grams are a unit of mass (weight) and tablespoons are a unit of volume (space). so it all depends on what you are measuring. theree are quite a few grams of msm in a tablespoon. you should measure your msm in grams (if it comes with a gram scoop or one 1,000mg capsule is a gram). or you can measure it in teaspoons if it does not come with a scoop. on days when i do not eat enough fruit, i take about 3-6 grams of MSM, sometimes more. talk to a physician if doing large levels. :)

  • I get lots of sulfur and methane from pickled eggs but not many friends.

  • we get our sulfur from garlic, but most of our friends come around when we get our strawberries...ha ha happy pickles to you...

  • Mmm makes me want to go pick my budding plants for breakfast but I must wait till they are grown more! Great video. I did not know this about rainwater. You also mentioned ocean water --- what about sea plants? are they rich in it since they thrive off ocean water? Your eager student has questions! Smile. Cute Western shirt, love it. As for pine needles, does one grind them to consume them? I have never ate them before. I am growing my own aloe which is a wonderful plant to use. Thanks for this!

  • Ps and I love how the avatar for this video came out with the list of MSM sources on top of the video picture.

  • thanks!

  • not sure about ocean plants...perhaps, but i have not seen them in high MSM lists. pine needles may be steeped in water after it boils and cools down slightly. or when hiking, chew on them and discard whatever is not juice. check to be sure there are not any poisonous pines in the area before grazing! great way to hydrate too when you chew on pine needles and huge vit. c
