@karlphillips1 This is the major city in the province, most other areas do not have infrastructure, or electricity/running water as this place does. However vehicles and roads are common
@walkertexasranger33 It is the adhan (the call to prayer) signaling Muslims to salat (the five daily collective times of worship). No matter what country, it's almost always in Arabic , as is the Qur'an. They're saying "God is greater (Allahu Akbar), there is no god but God, rise to prayer, rise to prosperity, God is greater." It is recited by someone at mosque or as a recording over speakers.
Your reaction to it reminds me of new Muslims in the West hearing church bells for the first time. :~)
@Safia1117 yes i figured it was entirely religious but the context its presented in almost kinda made me think it was a sort of brain washing in the sense that whether you believe in god or not you have to hear it.. thats fine i woulndt mind hearing it, its just something ive noticed in popular culture and in movies.. that wasnt an accusation of brainwashing i was just wondering where it originated really. kinda cool though its soothing
cool. I went last summer, 2008...it was super cool and a good experience. And my dad owns two supermarkets right next to that place and owns that computer store down the bank.
Kandahar actually it's the city most important after Kabul, it's a city with around 800.000 habitants and Kabul it has 3'500.000, besides this 2 cities they're more stable in all orders, they're secured with 27.000 afghan troops (the 2 cities) although in another places inside Afghanistan y its border are target of the militants that they're desperated because have lossed the control despite of the unleashment of the violence by them, this insurgence i'm sure that will be defeated in 3 years.
The view is from the balcony of Kandahar Coffee shop. I would come here everyday, it was actually quite nice, and the food was great. I was there last summer :)
haha nice, i am been there 20 times in a day,,:P
