How can Olivia with her heart so torn go have sex with somebody that she is not in love with?? I couldn't do it...there is no way, besides she has been there done that and divorced Josh. Look how sad and out of control she is. Olivia is in love and I don't see how having sex with somebody else could heal the pain.

It has been over two years since our poor Olivia has not been sexually active because she got sick and our Natalia nursed her back to health...the waiting is going to be worth it just as Natalia is so worth waiting for ...and Olivia is soo heartbroken...damnit!!! I do believe some people don't realize it's a soap and that drama is an inherent part of the soap opera genre, and that it's hard to accurately portray the life of a lesbian couple. I don't agree that the storyline is 'so bad' as Cokeplayer put it, I actually think the story is going well on its way to becoming great. Olivia's depression is showing closer minded people how one person can affect anothers life. I am so used to TV s/ls having break ups like Tibette, Tara Willow, Maca and Esther and those storylines weren't always the best. Im surprised at how many people have ditched the storyline, I'm upset by the animosity towards the show and am with it till the end
I agree, it is not like the s/l has been written without any thought from the start.
I really like that Olivia turns to Doris a several times for some good advices e.g. and that Doris is effected too by the relationship of them etc.
But you should not be upset about the fact, that there are critical voices out there. A lot of people were very invested and are really disillusioned right now. And in the end they have the same right to speak for themselves as we both do, right?!
Oh I absolutely am not upset at the critical voices at all, I think what I was trying to get at is the people who have stopped watching it...that is what I mean. I remember when Maca and Esther in HC had to deal with all the affairs and it was the worst time to watch, but even then, most people stuck to watching it, so I'm more disappointed in the people leaving it. From a writers perspective, the story is showing a true emotional story-arc with twits that are yet to come. ROLL ON AUGUST!

The most people have left Otalia and the BPD because its so bad.(before the ml of Jess there where hundred of comments at the BPD and YT and now there are only 20-30 people who talk about shit s/l). And in the moment i make my own short-movie because i´m tired that straight people kill every good same-sex story line. I only watch Otalia in the moment to learn to make it better!!!!

Most people, like me, are watching for the actresses, not the storyline at this point. If not for the actresses, I would have stopped watching. I love CC and JL and can't wait for Venice, which I will never criticize, since I know there will be no GMF or GMF spawn shoved down my throat. Also, it is summer and nothing else is on, so GL has that going for it. There are also very few other lesbian storylines out there.
I think the writing is good and also think this is the best love story I'v seen so far. People who like the storyline are less likely to be vocal. And these writers are writing a soap. Soap are known for angst. And people seem to think its there job to correct every wrong that has been done to us in other story's which by the way most of the truly bad ones are written by lesbians. To me Olivia is going through the 7 stages of grief one doen't have to die for the other to do this.
Unreflected is the key word. I love CC and JL for their work but we have 2009 and as a lesbian i can say to the producers and writers: Enough!!! And the funny think is that there are more straight women (also the soap magazine writers) who criticize the s/l then lesbians. And i´m such a huge happy-end freak, but i´m also a activist!!!

The show dropped the ball. The idiotic pregnancy that Nat did not realize for four months, the sexist Frank mentorship that kept him in the Otalia orbit. Now he will never leave. Based on an interview that the actor that plays Frank gave, it appears that when Nat gets back, the writers will be focus on him and his reaction to the baby....not Otalia. Big surprise there. The writers turned this into the Frank and Otalia story, which is unforgivable. Frank should have moved on months ago.

Yes, the actor said that the baby revelation would "rock his world" and it would all be about his reaction to it. A custody battle would seem likely if they didn't only have like 6 weeks to wrap up the storyline once Nat is back. I'm guessing we will get lots of Frank "I can't have lesbians raising my kid" angst. Cuz, you know the writers want to include the doofus in the storyline as much as possible. I expect him to be fixed in between Otalia until the bloody end until his death (I hope)

So here is my take: we all feel completely bewildered and gutshot the same way Olivia does right now. Usually we know better than to get wrapped up in a Same sex story on TV since they are by and large crap. we guard our hearts and stay detached. We know it is going to end badly, since it always does [like Olivia's relationships]. we assume we are being used on some level, and we are.
But like O, we are human. we need love too. so we keep hoping. Then Natalia comes along [or this GL story]. and for once it seems different. We resist, but slowly DELIBERATELY, we are sucked in by all kinds of promises. we point out all the possible pitfalls, explain how badly we can be hurt -they promise that this time it will be different. They even act that way, they show willing, they resist the usual awful cliches, in effect tell us they "know what it means to tell us they love us"
So we start to believe - wow, maybe they can really get this one right. Maybe [like Olivia said] we can get a happy ending for once.
SUCKERS!!! The very day that is going to be realized we get this horrendous betrayal - N, who said she was our best friend, who "trusted us with her life", who would "die for our child", who was "tired of waiting", who "wanted all the things people in love have" - up and leaves without a word. I don't care what anyone says - that is just unforgivably cruel.
Writing wise, it is not believable. Natalia, as previously written, would not do that in that way. She is too kind and compassionate. And as Snapper wrote in Lunchbox, she also had changed too much. We can only feel betrayed by the writing, b/c instead of finishing the story as it began and was built, so slowly so carefully for over a year, it has been suddenly altered to be unrecognizable - IT LEFT US - without a word of explanation, for no apparent reason. Like O, we are inconsolable.

I know how you feel, becasue I felt the same way during the WoD (Drinking,etc.) It was very hard to trust a sl, after having been let down by so many, and now being SO invested.
The WoD struck really close to home,too..Well,now I'm more detached, because as I see it, Nat is leaving because of JL's mat leave, what we get in between is Emmy filler for CC.Some character development.

Sounds like you have the writers pretty much figured out, cuz that is how I think it will play out exactly and that is what the rumors seem to be pointing to as well. I imagine they will throw Otalia together in the last few days prior to Sept 18 for a "hopeful ending." Up until then, I expect all Furtz, with a side of Rage and Father Judgment, all the time.

Here is worst, not even a real kiss.
pmp, I fully expect most of this storyline, when Nat returns, to be about the Frank and the baby, Frank and the baby. There will be angst, the bad kind, and we will be lucky to get a week of Otalia actually being a couple, without kissing of course. I doubt we will get a kiss. I think that is what CC and JL have as a September 19 surprise to fans...a long awaited real couple kiss. GL is unbelievable.

As an avid straight gay rights activist I must respectfully disagree. This WAS a great love story about how two beautiful women who found each other & the true loves of their lives. It was written with compassion & grace that all of us could appreciate. It was true to the characters & believable. We all fell in love with it & them. Somewhere along the line, the writers seem to have lost their way. Since Natalia & Olivia chose each other & said "I love you" they have seem to have lost their way.
The friendship, trust & intimacy (not that kind) seems to be cast aside & replaced with insecurity about the relationship, deception and mistrust. Nat & Olivia vowed to stay best friends in spite of anything. It is out of character for Nat to turn away from her best friend & to a new friend & a priest who judged her in her greatest time of need. She has questioned God's love after she found peace w/Him and run away w/o even giving Olivia the opportunity to know what she is feeling or why.
When one is in trouble one usually turns to one's best friend. Natalia, who has been the only one who's loved Olivia unconditionally, betrayed their friendship by deserting her w/o a word, leaving Olivia alone to wonder why. It's painful to watch the newly self confident & secure Olivia filled w/ such self doubt after she believed she had found the one true love that she could completely trust. I like Nat but what she did to Olivia is wrong, regardless of her reason. A disappointing s/l twist.
I think CC is great, but the storyline depresses me!!
I love Otalia and the well written scenes and chemistry, but maybe it is to do with the show being canx that the writers have lost something!! The last three months of the show could have been written so much better, including JL maternity leave!! We just have to have hope for a rushed happy ending!!!

The only saving grace for this s/l right now is CC and her AMAZING talent! Otherwise it is PAINFUL! I don't know if anyone else has noticed but I think they just don't care anymore....even the makeup is terrible...what is with the DARK lipstick, has Lilian gone goth!? I think the tide turned when the cancellation was announced and the writers/directors are bitter & who could blame them. What other excuse could there be for the out of character behavior and lack of attention to detail!
I agree. I think we are seeing the results of a bitter producer/writers who are deliberately saying f*** off to all of the GL fans. Otherwise, it is the network's way of deliberately destroying the soap genre, since they don't want to deal with them anymore. This would explain the Good Man Frank Phenomenon. Frank has no fans, so they will prop him up until the end, since it just pisses all of us off. By the way, it looks like he will be all in the Otalia story til the end. We're screwed.
I could understand why they are bitter. But why take it out on the fans? Better yet, why take it out on the actors, who have to play out these scripts regardless of how bad they get - the actors may be bitter too, but most of them are really doing a good job, day by day, even while dealing with the show ending - I mean CC has another gig already - she could just phone it in if she wanted...but she plays every scene to the max. That's fine if you like Frank, but you are only about 1% of the Otalia fanbase that does. The constant "good man" propping is really bad writing, since he has done nothing to deserve it. Show it, don't just say it. He is condescending and sanctimonious to everyone. He has already played a huge part in this storyline. Didn't Nat already choose Liv over Frank? It is going to end with her choosing Liv again? Why do the writers keep revisiting the same storyline. Complete lack of creativity.
I see the constant "good man" as a way of telling those among the viewers who think a woman chooses another woman because she hasn't met the right man that their perception is false. Nat chooses Liv even if Frank is evrything you would want in a man. Liv is not second choice.
Dantzig, as I've said before, I've "known" the character of Frank for years & years. He's not a shadow of the good person he used to be. He's another victim of the inconsistency of the writing now. Frank was a kind, compassionate & caring man w/the ability to love & forgive people for their mistakes. Nobody meant to hurt him & both Olivia & Nat have apologized endlessly. One disappointment should not be enough to turn the person he was into the heartless obnoxious man he is. It makes no sense.
I agree. In the moment we use the episodes of GL in my movie workshop to demonstrate the errors in a movie/tv production. And there are sooo many errors in the moment. And i don`t talk about the s/l !!!!
People, you need to give the writers some credit.A lot of the actors are leaving the show early, they have to consider that.They had to turn in two scripts, one for "in case the show gets picked up" and one for now.
Then a lot of the personnel(like make up artists) are already leaving,too.

Seeing Olivia like this makes me really resent Natalia. Olivia's life is falling apart and she is revisiting her lush days. Natalia is reflecting somewhere surrounded by nuns because she got knocked up.
God is not punishing her for being a lesbian, God is punishing her for not having used a condom. To be honest at this point Nat looks to me like a wanna be Betty Crocker with more Catholic guilt than a lesbian nun. Olivia has given up so much for her since the whole heart thing its pitiful; she gave up a business to get Nat's money back & then moved in with her so she could afford a house; gave her a great job at The Beacon. Nat didn't even have the decency to call to explain when she left.
I don't think it is a question of which of them did give more than the other. Nat gave her her husband, and saved Liv's life by giving the heart of her husband. it's not a question of debits and credits.
nat needs to go through the issues brought by the pregnancy alone.

As a former Catholic, I believe that God doesn't punish anyone for anything. As to the question of who "gave" more, relationships are give & take w/one person or the other always giving more. My problem w/the plot twist of Nat leaving town is that she did it w/o a text, e-mail or tweet to O & no explanation whatsoever. That's not how one treats the person one loves or has "chosen". It's cruel & insensitive to O's feelings. Its out of character for Nat to behave that way. O deserves better. IMO
Nat gave Gus' heart to O because on the day of her wedding to Gus, she locked Olivia in a closet so she wouldn't disrupt the wedding, causing Olivia to miss her heart transplant. She did it so she & Gus could have "their day". That was fine but by doing so she could have denied Emma & Ava their mother forever. That was not the action of a good Catholic woman. I like Nat, but she isn't a saint & is as human & fallible as anyone else. It was her guilt that caused her to give O Gus' heart

never said Nat is a saint, you're right :she is as human and fallible as anyone else. that's why I don't see her insensitive because she left without a note. just terrified. it's no justification of her character. but I don't judge her.
I won't go counting or justifying the give and take of Liv and Nat, or the reasons each gave something to the other, because there's always, or at least sometimes, many reasons behind a gesture.
If Nat had left and spoken to Rafe, I would be really upset. The fact that she has not spoken to Rafe, after previously calling him 50 times a day, says to me that she is terrified and probably suffering a mental breakdown due to the prospect of Frank's genetic poop inside her. Nat will win me back only if the first person she goes to is Olivia, or Rafe, which would make sense. If the first person she turns to upon her return is Frank, she is not worth Liv's time and there is no supercouple.
about God's punishment, that's your opinion Nobra, and maybe the aim of the twist will be for Natalia to understand this by herself as well.
I don't agree about the give and take thing because you can never say what you really give to the other. you know what you do for the other but there are things you give without even knowing.

O has not been around town with anyone else. Jeff was married to Reva. Nat was marrying Frank, but then didn't. They are probably all scratching their heads, wondering. Those are the convo;s I would love to see on this show - late at night, in the bar, Ch. says to Remy: "so what IS the deal with Olivia and Natalia?"

I do believe some people don't realize it's a soap and that drama is an inherent part of the soap opera genre, and that it's hard to accurately portray the life of a lesbian couple. I don't agree that the storyline is 'so bad' as Cokeplayer put it, I actually think the story is going well on its way to becoming great. Olivia's depression is showing closer minded people how one person can affect anothers life. I am so used to TV s/ls having break ups like Tibette, Tara Willow, Maca and Esther and those storylines weren't always the best. Im surprised at how many people have ditched the storyline, I'm upset by the animosity towards the show and am with it till the end

I really like that Olivia turns to Doris a several times for some good advices e.g. and that Doris is effected too by the relationship of them etc.
But you should not be upset about the fact, that there are critical voices out there. A lot of people were very invested and are really disillusioned right now. And in the end they have the same right to speak for themselves as we both do, right?!

Oh I absolutely am not upset at the critical voices at all, I think what I was trying to get at is the people who have stopped watching it...that is what I mean. I remember when Maca and Esther in HC had to deal with all the affairs and it was the worst time to watch, but even then, most people stuck to watching it, so I'm more disappointed in the people leaving it. From a writers perspective, the story is showing a true emotional story-arc with twits that are yet to come. ROLL ON AUGUST!

The most people have left Otalia and the BPD because its so bad.(before the ml of Jess there where hundred of comments at the BPD and YT and now there are only 20-30 people who talk about shit s/l). Most people, like me, are watching for the actresses, not the storyline at this point. If not for the actresses, I would have stopped watching. I love CC and JL and can't wait for Venice, which I will never criticize, since I know there will be no GMF or GMF spawn shoved down my throat. Also, it is summer and nothing else is on, so GL has that going for it. There are also very few other lesbian storylines out there.

I think the writing is good and also think this is the best love story I'v seen so far. People who like the storyline are less likely to be vocal. And these writers are writing a soap. Soap are known for angst. And people seem to think its there job to correct every wrong that has been done to us in other story's which by the way most of the truly bad ones are written by lesbians. To me Olivia is going through the 7 stages of grief one doen't have to die for the other to do this.

The show dropped the ball. The idiotic pregnancy that Nat did not realize for four months, the sexist Frank mentorship that kept him in the Otalia orbit. Now he will never leave. Based on an interview that the actor that plays Frank gave, it appears that when Nat gets back, the writers will be focus on him and his reaction to the baby....not Otalia. Big surprise there. The writers turned this into the Frank and Otalia story, which is unforgivable. Frank should have moved on months ago.

Yes, the actor said that the baby revelation would "rock his world" and it would all be about his reaction to it. A custody battle would seem likely if they didn't only have like 6 weeks to wrap up the storyline once Nat is back. I'm guessing we will get lots of Frank "I can't have lesbians raising my kid" angst. Cuz, you know the writers want to include the doofus in the storyline as much as possible. I expect him to be fixed in between Otalia until the bloody end until his death (I hope)

Writing wise, it is not believable. Natalia, as previously written, would not do that in that way. She is too kind and compassionate. And as Snapper wrote in Lunchbox, she also had changed too much. We can only feel betrayed by the writing, b/c instead of finishing the story as it began and was built, so slowly so carefully for over a year, it has been suddenly altered to be unrecognizable - IT LEFT US - without a word of explanation, for no apparent reason. Like O, we are inconsolable.

There will be angst, the bad kind, and we will be lucky to get a week of Otalia actually being a couple, without kissing of course. I doubt we will get a kiss. I think that is what CC and JL have as a September 19 surprise to fans...a long awaited real couple kiss. GL is unbelievable.

As an avid straight gay rights activist I must respectfully disagree. This WAS a great love story about how two beautiful women who found each other & the true loves of their lives. It was written with compassion & grace that all of us could appreciate. It was true to the characters & believable. We all fell in love with it & them. Somewhere along the line, the writers seem to have lost their way. Since Natalia & Olivia chose each other & said "I love you" they have seem to have lost their way.

The friendship, trust & intimacy (not that kind) seems to be cast aside & replaced with insecurity about the relationship, deception and mistrust. Nat & Olivia vowed to stay best friends in spite of anything. It is out of character for Nat to turn away from her best friend & to a new friend & a priest who judged her in her greatest time of need. She has questioned God's love after she found peace w/Him and run away w/o even giving Olivia the opportunity to know what she is feeling or why.

When one is in trouble one usually turns to one's best friend. Natalia, who has been the only one who's loved Olivia unconditionally, betrayed their friendship by deserting her w/o a word, leaving Olivia alone to wonder why. It's painful to watch the newly self confident & secure Olivia filled w/ such self doubt after she believed she had found the one true love that she could completely trust. I like Nat but what she did to Olivia is wrong, regardless of her reason. A disappointing s/l twist.

I love Otalia and the well written scenes and chemistry, but maybe it is to do with the show being canx that the writers have lost something!! The last three months of the show could have been written so much better, including JL maternity leave!! We just have to have hope for a rushed happy ending!!!

The ones rallying around Reva keep offering her liquor, but she responsibly turns it down because of Colin. Eventhough her husband dies, she's keeping it together...no booze and no pills.
On the other hand, they're showing Olivia boozing it up and forgetting Emma. Making her seem like a messed up person and terrible parent! I hope she gets it together next week cuz this isn't my idea of good entertainment! Shame on u GL!

The only saving grace for this s/l right now is CC and her AMAZING talent! Otherwise it is PAINFUL! I don't know if anyone else has noticed but I think they just don't care anymore....even the makeup is terrible...what is with the DARK lipstick, has Lilian gone goth!? I think the tide turned when the cancellation was announced and the writers/directors are bitter & who could blame them. What other excuse could there be for the out of character behavior and lack of attention to detail!

I agree. I think we are seeing the results of a bitter producer/writers who are deliberately saying f*** off to all of the GL fans. Otherwise, it is the network's way of deliberately destroying the soap genre, since they don't want to deal with them anymore. This would explain the Good Man Frank Phenomenon. Frank has no fans, so they will prop him up until the end, since it just pisses all of us off. By the way, it looks like he will be all in the Otalia story til the end. We're screwed.

I could understand why they are bitter. But why take it out on the fans? Better yet, why take it out on the actors, who have to play out these scripts regardless of how bad they get - the actors may be bitter too, but most of them are really doing a good job, day by day, even while dealing with the show ending - I mean CC has another gig already - she could just phone it in if she wanted...but she plays every scene to the max. Phillip [GA] also - really going for it. I admire them for it.

We're still waiting & waiting & waiting & waiting & waiting & waiting & waiting (7) for Olivia & Nat to finally be together as a couple & it looks like we'll have to wait & wait & wait & wait (4) some more. The only thing that makes the waiting & wait worth it at this point is the fact that CC is doing some the best work of her career making this stupidity that they're giving her to work with as believable as possible! She deserves an Emmy for that!

That's fine if you like Frank, but you are only about 1% of the Otalia fanbase that does. The constant "good man" propping is really bad writing, since he has done nothing to deserve it. Show it, don't just say it. He is condescending and sanctimonious to everyone. He has already played a huge part in this storyline. Didn't Nat already choose Liv over Frank? It is going to end with her choosing Liv again? Why do the writers keep revisiting the same storyline. Complete lack of creativity.

Dantzig, as I've said before, I've "known" the character of Frank for years & years. He's not a shadow of the good person he used to be. He's another victim of the inconsistency of the writing now. Frank was a kind, compassionate & caring man w/the ability to love & forgive people for their mistakes. Nobody meant to hurt him & both Olivia & Nat have apologized endlessly. One disappointment should not be enough to turn the person he was into the heartless obnoxious man he is. It makes no sense.

People, you need to give the writers some credit.A lot of the actors are leaving the show early, they have to consider that.They had to turn in two scripts, one for "in case the show gets picked up" and one for now.
Then a lot of the personnel(like make up artists) are already leaving,too.
I really don't think that they are trying to take anything out on the viewers.
Instead they have these really beautiful speeches on loss, like Buzz yesterday.That's the writers speaking.Not the characters.

To be honest at this point Nat looks to me like a wanna be Betty Crocker with more Catholic guilt than a lesbian nun. Olivia has given up so much for her since the whole heart thing its pitiful; she gave up a business to get Nat's money back & then moved in with her so she could afford a house; gave her a great job at The Beacon. Nat didn't even have the decency to call to explain when she left.

I don't think it is a question of which of them did give more than the other. Nat gave her her husband, and saved Liv's life by giving the heart of her husband. it's not a question of debits and credits.
nat needs to go through the issues brought by the pregnancy alone.
and I'm not that surprised that such a Catholic woman did not use condom. and I don't judge that; nor do I say all Catholic women act the same.

As a former Catholic, I believe that God doesn't punish anyone for anything. As to the question of who "gave" more, relationships are give & take w/one person or the other always giving more. My problem w/the plot twist of Nat leaving town is that she did it w/o a text, e-mail or tweet to O & no explanation whatsoever. That's not how one treats the person one loves or has "chosen". It's cruel & insensitive to O's feelings. Its out of character for Nat to behave that way. O deserves better. IMO

Nat gave Gus' heart to O because on the day of her wedding to Gus, she locked Olivia in a closet so she wouldn't disrupt the wedding, causing Olivia to miss her heart transplant. She did it so she & Gus could have "their day". That was fine but by doing so she could have denied Emma & Ava their mother forever. That was not the action of a good Catholic woman. I like Nat, but she isn't a saint & is as human & fallible as anyone else. It was her guilt that caused her to give O Gus' heart

The good people get no credit and the bad ones (Frank) are propped up as good people at every turn. I would never have even known that Jeffrey was a rapist, if not for TWOP. I won't go counting or justifying the give and take of Liv and Nat, or the reasons each gave something to the other, because there's always, or at least sometimes, many reasons behind a gesture.

If Nat had left and spoken to Rafe, I would be really upset. The fact that she has not spoken to Rafe, after previously calling him 50 times a day, says to me that she is terrified and probably suffering a mental breakdown due to the prospect of Frank's genetic poop inside her. Nat will win me back only if the first person she goes to is Olivia, or Rafe, which would make sense. If the first person she turns to upon her return is Frank, she is not worth Liv's time and there is no supercouple.
