Not to hate, but I just don't feel that corps-style bands are all that great. I personally prefer military bands, especially the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band from Texas A&M. Modern popular music doesn't really translate well into marching band performances, because it usually ends up very simplistic. If you consider the actual difficult of the music, its not anything to be impressed over. To an actual musician, its not very entertaining. Past the early-2000s music just got really simple. The performance itself was well executed, the content was just not as well arranged as it could have been. DCI corps and HBCUs dominate popular music arrangement.
@anonymousowa1 - That is a HUGE insult! I do consider my myself a musician, i competed in competitions playing marches AND pop! sometimes pop is way harder. Do you know how hard it is to remember a 10 minute routine in front of THOUSANDS of people AND play pop! And yes I am VERY impressed and so are hundreds of other people. If you don't like it don't watch!

Marching is not too bad, music only got good at the Party rock anthem. Agreed that Ohio had better dancing but USC's tone quality was a little better and there volume was better at times but hey I have only seen the vids so it might be the cameras
For those who think Ohio is better keep in mind that the USC band doesn't audition and doesn't practice as much as Ohio. Yes, they had an awesome show, but trying doing that show with 300 people.
@724cherryblossom Also another thing about Ohio's band is that they park and bark. There is no marching involved, so music should be cleaner, as they don't have to memorize drill also.
@Fleeingpanda Actually you're incorrect. The Party Rock video is simply ONE song out of an 11 minute show which includes marching. Just do a simple search on YouTube. I recommend checking out the "Bon Jovi" show from 2005.
A bit to work on. Most of the fundamentals sucked. Good job to that fat guy who always puts his ass on the ground whenever he stands in place. Trumpets, can you point your instruments anymore towards the ground? Song girls (glorified whores) were great! But the Party Rock arrangement was sweet.
I went to a HBCU where we have showband style aka highstepping so when I go to non HBCU football games and see the band thye usually are dry and boring. USC is one of the exceptions, this was fun and had energy. A marching band is supposed to entertain not put you to sleep and that crowd sounded very entertained!
I was there and it was even more impressive in person. The Spirit of Troy never ceases to amaze. Hands down the best marching band on the planet. Thanks, TMB, for posting this.

our band played dynamite this year and we think we sounded awesome. then i heard their version of dynamite -.- were playing i like it this friday though ;)
And I was there in the student section watching all of this. This performance was EPIC! Even that blocked field goal that allowed the win was not as epic as this...though it does come close xD (though I'm probably biased seeing how I'm a musician). I can't wait to see more of both the band and the epic plays with this season pass. Fight on SC Trojans!

loved the party rock anthem part. But every other part seemed off/forced.
I was in marching band in hs and got out of it seeing as i didn't want to do this in college.
