limekid, your brother is a Marine and his weapon was malfunctioning because it was dirty? Either standards have dropped since I got out, or your brother is a shitbird. A Marine with a dirty weapon? What a shame. Just kidding about the shitbird comment. Tell your bro I'm disappointed in his gun-cleaning skills, LOL. 5ring USMC 1986-1994
I carried the original M9 in the Marines and the 92FS as a cop in Cali. I now carry a Glock-22 on duty in Florida. I have owned a Glock-27, Glock-23 and a Glock-22. The Beretta 92 series is far more accurate than any of the Glocks I've had. 50yd headshots, no problem. Further, I have had no malfunctions with a Beretta on the range or in the field. I cannot say that for the Glocks. Beretta action is smoother & it now has the same capacity as the Glock-17 with the M9A1 mags. It's also gourgeous.
@jackl45 Depends on the agency. Some smaller departments require the officer to buy their own. Others have an issue gun but allow the officer to carry his/her own if it meets certain specs, others (like mine) require officers carry the issued weapon only. Mine issues the Glocks-22 to patrol and Glock-27 to Detectives and Admin (if we want one). We are not allowed to carry anything else on duty, not even a back-up. I have an M&P40c that I like a lot better than any Glock but Beretta my Fave.
Did a little reading on the M9, the military had a competition, various handguns in the 9mm competed (Don't know why the hell NATO chose 9mm when the military is only allowed to use the standard ball ammunition.), they had various tests like soaking it in salt water, dropping on concrete etc. And only this gun and the SIG P226 made it through, and the Beretta won due to cost reasons.
@limekid By the way, your video is partially responsible for the new M92A1 sitting in my gun locker. I got tired of trying to dial-in my Ruger SR9 so I traded it for the Beretta. I never had a problem keyholing shots with any M9 variant. This one is no different. I love this gun, only wish I could carry it on duty. It even handled the Paki surplus stuff with the hard primers that none of my other 9's will shoot reliably. Molto Bene!

i have one like that, the m1911a1 back in the Philippines.bought from my cousin 10,000 pesos equivalent to 250 US dollar. its a Remington made Syracuse N.Y.
@dorevolution Having shot that pistol in a forest, I can tell you it was a great experience. No one currently makes that pistol as it is an original Colt M1911A1.
i'd have to agree w/ the reliability.when i carried it in Afghanistan i didn't have reliability issues.I have had a few magazine related issues, but that was easily fixed before any patrols.I also like the fact its easy to strip the weapon.

@lobeking I dont know why people complain about this weapon. The first time I shot one was in 01 when I was in the Navy for quals and I shot 205-215 easily, and this was at 3, 7, 15 and 25 yards. Now I'm a DOD police officer and we use the same weapon and I easily shoot 225+ on our quals. And taking it apart and cleaning it is to damn easy. I've never had any problems with mines
The Beretta M9A1, is an awesome and reliable pistol. Just got my internal lasermax, night sights, and wooden grips attached. This gun has better accuracy and less recoil than a Glock 17.
Great video. The only thing to say I have, is it's not the "next gen" service pistol. The M9 is the current service pistol and has been since 1985. The M9A1 has been since 2006. I'm probably being picky, though. Again, great vid.
I usually clean mine after about 500 rounds, keep it clean and oil'd you won't have the "fail to feed" issues. I've got atleast 3500+ rounds with only a couple of fail to feeds/ejects. I'm using the 92FS and have yet to have any issues with the polymer recoil spring guide rod, although I have been debating on switching this over to the metal version.
I carried one and so did many of my friends and family and let me tell you, when my m4 jammed, i was just glad to be an officer and have any sidearm. But it never failed, never jammed, but this could be that I ACTUALLY take good care of my guns. It's like any other Beretta people, keep it powder free and lubed up, it'll treat you right.
Do you think it could be the mag that causes the FTF? (that was my problem on my other pistol) I think i will probably get the m9 rather then the m9a1. The only reason is because the pistol is already heavy and i dont think ill want any extra weight with accesories added to the front.
@soylentcowflops Yeah, I have read in a lot of manuals that they recommend dry firing for practice. This gun has been 100%, there were problems because it was bone dry.
I Love this Gun. I Always have Ever Since I was a Kid. Lots of my "Movie Heroes" had it. lol ie...... Bruce Willis when he Played "John McClane" in Die Hard 1 and 2, and Mel Gibson when he Played "Martin Riggs" in All of the Lethal Weapon Movies just to Name a Couple. The Beretta M9 is also ur Initial Weapon in the Very First "Resident Evil" Game for the First Playstation. lol One of my Favorite Games of All Time by the Way. lol But yeah, the Beretta M9 is a Great Gun. I can't Wait to Get One.
@rseyer91 You should see my Elite 2 Brigadier! I love it and have so for over 7 years and never one problem to this day. Everyone that sees it wants to call them first if I decide to sell it, I never will though. Don't get me wrong though the 1911 is still a fantastic weapon, has been for 100 years and will be for a long time. However, the Beretta is also in it's own rite a fantastic weapon as well! I have one and still want a 1911 as well.
I just bought this gun put 95 rounds through it 2 failure to feeds early on after but 20 rounds like butter other than that good gun very accurate esspcially for a novice shooter ! Im leaving my mags loaded for ahile and see what that does. Other than that I will be purchsing 2 18 round mags from mecgar!
@mrpicky510 This is going to be very similar to that pistol with the exception of a few small things including, the rail and I believe the front strap checkering.
Hey Limekid, like the video. Just curious to get some info. So far I haven't seen the M9A1 at stores. I see the 92 A1. I know they are the same gun, but would love to have the M9A1 stamp on the pistol. Also, since they newer and available to the public, they aren't military reject pistols by any chance are they? I have a M9 and I had to drift my rear sight way over and if you look at the gun from aerial view it looks like the sight isn't in line with the barrel, but it shoots dead on.
Just a quick tidbit of info...the Marine Corps asked Beretta to make the M9a1 specifically for us with the light rail and the aggressive checkered gripping on the front of the grip
Im getting either the Springfield Armory G.I. 1911-a1 in January (as my Christmas gift with all the money ive got saved up, plus Christmas money) and I was wondering which one that most of yall prefer, the Beretta or 1911?
@perkalator104 They are both awesome guns. Personally, I'd get the 1911 first and then the Beretta but, either way I'd end up with both of them eventually.
@limekid (Dont mean to be bothersome, I just really want to make the best decision....and sorry if I misspelled that) Why would you get them in that order?
If you want to make the best decision, you need to go hold the firearms and preferably shoot them to make your own decision.
Personally I like the design of the 1911 pistol better than the M9, so that's why I'd get it first. But like I said, if you like both models, eventually you will end up with both of them.
@perkalator104 I went down today and checked it out, they were out of the Springfields, but I held the High standard, and Taurus models of 1911, so I chose to get one of the 1911s (the High standard, cuz Im a cheap skate =D) I have it on layaway until January
The 1911's cost more, being chambered in .45 ACP. They run between $750 on up. A Beretta M9A1 will run you between 580 up to $700.Preference would be to get the higher knock down power gun first, then save for the 9mm.
@perkalator104 I like the overall specs of the berretta, but some dont like that its a 9mm instead of the 45. 1911. but i for sure prefure the berretta
I love the look of this gun, the weight is somewhat of an issue. But I carried around (I'm a disabled boxer, bad back) a Kimber 1911 TLE 2, all steel, for 2 years and this is nothing in comparison. The Glock 19 is my recommended carry, but go with whatever feels best. But oddly enough so far I shoot straightest with this gun. I can also tear it down and re-assemble it blindfolded :)
The springs can be lightened (I'll get my specs to those who ask) and trigger as well, makes it shoot hella nicer
@limekid, I've had two of these, had to sell them, but currently I got an M9 in my hand as I type this. I've fallen back in love. I had to go through a Kimber TLE 2, Springfield XDm, and two civvy versions, the 92FS's. Let me say the M9, I love it a lot. I think his might be somewhat of a lemon, may need a new barrel or some spring work. I did spring jobs on mine and lightened the trigger, hogue grips, etc. It shoots soooo accurately! In fact, I shoot it better than my Kimber!
@limekid, all that said. I got a Glock 19 on layway that will be my main pistol, even though I love both of these. I Will be making a Glock 19, SIG P226 and M9 vid where I shoot all of them. The SIG is my friends, the M9 is his as well but I'm buying it from him. The Glock is all mine baby :)
What sucks is if I hadnt had to sell any of my guns I'd have 3 M9s, 1 XDm .40, 1 1911 Kimber TLE 2, and soon a Glock 19, lol. But now only one Beretta n Glock, next semi is going to be a SIG or HK.
sig p226 is alot better then that scrapper only reason why we dont have the sig p266 is becuase the m9 s cheaper. ask any seal whitch pistol they prefer that would be the hk usp sig 226 or hk mk23
What kind of Magazines are you using with the pistol? Some of the M9 Phosphate coated mags feed very unreliably. Mec-Gar is by far the finest mag manufacturer for this particular pistol. Makes my 92FS feed like glass :)
He had the same problem you're describing. BLACK HAWK! makes a Serpa holster for the M9A1. It's a Level III retention so it has a hood and Serpa lock. I believe he got it from lapolicegear
hey bro does your brother have a holster for the m9a1??? i can't find a holster that will fit my m9a1.. all the holsters that i see are for 92FS type no rails..
@dadydany517 I can relate! I bought a M9A1 a few years ago and I had a hell of a time finding a good holster. What you want to look for is any holster that will fit a Beretta Vertec. The Vertec and the M9A1 have the EXACT same frame shape. Any holster that fits a Vertec will work perfect for an M9A1. I just recently purchased a Fobus holster (BRVBH) for action pistol. It works perfectly with my M9A1.
Well theres your reliability problem... The thing is bone dry. Clean it and give it some oil. My m9a1, 92fs, and 92 elite have all been 100% flawless, but like all guns and many other machanical things they need a bit of oil.
Cool video and demonstration. I used the M9 from 2000 to 2004 as a US Marine , in peace time and in Iraq. I am keen on buying this for personal use as a Marine/civilian. By the way, is the hammer and guide rod made of plastic? I heard it was. Thanks for the video.
Yeah, through sand and rain it preformed up to standard. I head the new mags the M9A1 comes with are suppose to be super dust resistance, and will slide into place despite any outside element.
By the way, where are you shooting the AR15 and shotgun Sarah Conner style?
So are you from Apple Valley then? I live there too and thought that spot looked familiar. I haven't shot there in years but it looks the same: trashy. Do you know any places where you can shoot long range in the High Desert, or Mojave Desert?
I'm actually from Riverside. Yeah it's pretty bad. That was my first time going and I won't be returning.
I typically go out to Barstow of the Ft. Irwin Road on BLM land to shoot. I haven't found any good long range spots but, I haven't been looking. I'm sure you can drive around for a bit and find some.
These are the GPS coords for where we normally shoot. Poke around on google maps and I'm sure you'll find some long range stuff out there.
Once I get back to the States I'll poke around out there. Also, where did your brother buy his M9A1? I heard they come in a two-tone OD Green...have you seen one?
FTF?? Feed issues usually come from the magazines... are you (your brother) using factory mags or ones from MecGar? If not I'd suggest doing that. If you are, try giving the mags and gun a really good cleaning. Berettas need lots of love, so don't skimp.
They're factory mags. The gun was suuuper dirty and really dry. I gave it a good cleaning and lubed it up. If that doesn't work, I'll pass on the advice about the mags. Thanks for the tips!
M9A1 is so freaking awesome.
Disassembles awesome (and reassembles awesome, too)
Hell of a lot safer
But the stopping power isn't as good as the M1911.
Other than that, just so great.

@perkalator104 Not a problem.
If you want to make the best decision, you need to go hold the firearms and preferably shoot them to make your own decision.
Personally I like the design of the 1911 pistol better than the M9, so that's why I'd get it first. But like I said, if you like both models, eventually you will end up with both of them.
Does that help?
limekid 1 year ago
@perkalator104 I went down today and checked it out, they were out of the Springfields, but I held the High standard, and Taurus models of 1911, so I chose to get one of the 1911s (the High standard, cuz Im a cheap skate =D) I have it on layaway until January
perkalator104 1 year ago
@perkalator104 There we go. I'm unfamiliar with the High Standards since they probably aren't CA approved.
Congratulations on your purchase!
limekid 1 year ago
@perkalator104

@perkalator104 the beretta wiil save u alot in ammo
matzpimp 1 year ago
@edd217 I would just do search online. Probably not that difficult to find.
All magazines, "mil-spec" or not will wear out eventually if they are kept permanently loaded.

I'm on a wait list for the one I ordered today. I can't fricken wait. As a Marine, you're weapon should always be clean.
shelfstocker69 1 year ago
@shelfstocker69 Nice!
As a duty weapon yeah but, Marines are humans too and his pistol isn't ALWAYS spic and span.

Beretta M9A1 will knock your teeth out.

@limekid that's what I hear,lol. Take care!
graycloud057 1 year ago
@limekid, I've had two of these, had to sell them, but currently I got an M9 in my hand as I type this. I've fallen back in love. I had to go through a Kimber TLE 2, Springfield XDm, and two civvy versions, the 92FS's. Let me say the M9, I love it a lot. I think his might be somewhat of a lemon, may need a new barrel or some spring work. I did spring jobs on mine and lightened the trigger, hogue grips, etc. It shoots soooo accurately! In fact, I shoot it better than my Kimber!
hoboboxerjoe 1 year ago
@limekid, all that said. I got a Glock 19 on layway that will be my main pistol, even though I love both of these. I Will be making a Glock 19, SIG P226 and M9 vid where I shoot all of them. The SIG is my friends, the M9 is his as well but I'm buying it from him. The Glock is all mine baby :)
What sucks is if I hadnt had to sell any of my guns I'd have 3 M9s, 1 XDm .40, 1 1911 Kimber TLE 2, and soon a Glock 19, lol. But now only one Beretta n Glock, next semi is going to be a SIG or HK.

limekid 1 year ago
Hey Im in love with guns but im a noob when you say its dirty im pretty sure your talking about the inside right and how it fires?
Cronosinfinity 1 year ago
@Cronosinfinity Yup, talking about the internals of the firearm and the rails that the slide rides on.
When guns are fired they produce carbon soot and gunk inside the firearm. It's a good habit to wipe this "gunk" off after each use.
limekid 1 year ago
sig p226 is alot better then that scrapper only reason why we dont have the sig p266 is becuase the m9 s cheaper. ask any seal whitch pistol they prefer that would be the hk usp sig 226 or hk mk23
Xxcodyxx66 1 year ago
What kind of Magazines are you using with the pistol? Some of the M9 Phosphate coated mags feed very unreliably. Mec-Gar is by far the finest mag manufacturer for this particular pistol. Makes my 92FS feed like glass :)
Ajps2master 1 year ago
@Ajps2master We've only used the original factory Beretta magazines. The firearm has been working flawlessly. It was just very dirty/dry apparently.
limekid 1 year ago
I agree the 92 is one of the most reliable pistols around . As long as they are cleaned and lubricated they work .

It's the same fucking thing.
limekid 1 year ago 12
@FlUdDeStRoYeR94 its an accessory rail not a "tactical rail", technically its a mil-std-1913 rail. Beretta list it as an ACCESSORY RAIL. ya jack ass

Maybe I'm just a n00b, but can anyone tell me why EVERYTIME I see a 1911 the hammer is always back?
JackarundaTrue 1 year ago
@JackarundaTrue That's the most efficient/effective way to carry a 1911. 1 round in the chamber, hammer back and thumb safety on. Cocked and locked.
limekid 1 year ago
He had the same problem you're describing. BLACK HAWK! makes a Serpa holster for the M9A1. It's a Level III retention so it has a hood and Serpa lock. I believe he got it from lapolicegear
limekid 1 year ago
hey bro does your brother have a holster for the m9a1??? i can't find a holster that will fit my m9a1.. all the holsters that i see are for 92FS type no rails..
dadydany517 1 year ago
@dadydany517 I can relate! I bought a M9A1 a few years ago and I had a hell of a time finding a good holster. What you want to look for is any holster that will fit a Beretta Vertec. The Vertec and the M9A1 have the EXACT same frame shape. Any holster that fits a Vertec will work perfect for an M9A1. I just recently purchased a Fobus holster (BRVBH) for action pistol. It works perfectly with my M9A1.

@b0mccue Thanks a lot. i got one on the way already! sweet! appreciate you sharing this info!!!
dadydany517 1 year ago
can you cock the pistol to transition it to single action rather than having to use the double action trigger so that ur first can is more accurate

@xXtang0xX Yes. In a carry situation I wouldn't but, for target shooting I do.

why would a marine keep his gun so dirty?
mjship11 1 year ago
@mjship11 I guess Marine's aren't absolutely perfect human beings. The same reason that regular people don't clean their guns?
This is not his duty weapon.

great vid!! j/w, where are some popular places to browse for used and/or new handguns?
minorasin 1 year ago
Well theres your reliability problem... The thing is bone dry. Clean it and give it some oil. My m9a1, 92fs, and 92 elite have all been 100% flawless, but like all guns and many other machanical things they need a bit of oil.
skoal92fs 1 year ago
Shot it today. Ran flawlessly.

Cool video and demonstration. I used the M9 from 2000 to 2004 as a US Marine , in peace time and in Iraq. I am keen on buying this for personal use as a Marine/civilian. By the way, is the hammer and guide rod made of plastic? I heard it was. Thanks for the video.
jonathan99s 1 year ago
Thanks. Did it work well for you in Iraq etc.?
The guide rod is plastic, the hammer is metal.
limekid 1 year ago
Yeah, through sand and rain it preformed up to standard. I head the new mags the M9A1 comes with are suppose to be super dust resistance, and will slide into place despite any outside element.
By the way, where are you shooting the AR15 and shotgun Sarah Conner style?
Thanks,
Scott
jonathan99s 1 year ago
Good to hear. Yeah Beretta labels them as sand proof or something.
We were at Hodge Road near Barstow CA. It's an alright spot but, people (shooters) have trashed it. There are much better spots nearby.

limekid 1 year ago
Hey man,
So are you from Apple Valley then? I live there too and thought that spot looked familiar. I haven't shot there in years but it looks the same: trashy. Do you know any places where you can shoot long range in the High Desert, or Mojave Desert?
Scott
jonathan99s 1 year ago
I'm actually from Riverside. Yeah it's pretty bad. That was my first time going and I won't be returning.
I typically go out to Barstow of the Ft. Irwin Road on BLM land to shoot. I haven't found any good long range spots but, I haven't been looking. I'm sure you can drive around for a bit and find some.
These are the GPS coords for where we normally shoot. Poke around on google maps and I'm sure you'll find some long range stuff out there.

I believe he got it from a local store here in Riverside but, I'm not too sure.
I haven't seen any two-tone ones.

No, I'm a in Holland right now with my girlfriend. I got out in 2004. I always refer to America as "the States"
What we used to say in Iraq.

Awesome. Right on. Yeah I say the same, just wondering.
limekid 1 year ago
FTF?? Feed issues usually come from the magazines... are you (your brother) using factory mags or ones from MecGar? If not I'd suggest doing that. If you are, try giving the mags and gun a really good cleaning. Berettas need lots of love, so don't skimp.
slipnotsevenfold 1 year ago
They're factory mags. The gun was suuuper dirty and really dry. I gave it a good cleaning and lubed it up. If that doesn't work, I'll pass on the advice about the mags. Thanks for the tips!
