Your taste in music parallels mine in many ways, Charlie. Pretty good was Gene Autry as well. In another music genre (modern word!) we've both had our say on who was the best crooner - you say Bing Crosby, I say Al Bowlly - guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. Thanks to the Westerns Channel some years back, I "discovered" this fellow named Gene Autry. I started watching his TV show & was amazed to find Pat Buttram, who I previously knew only as Mr. Haney from Green Acres, was his sidekick! There was something about Gene's easygoing charm and pleasant voice that immediately hooked me. I had to see more! That was about 10 yrs ago and I've been a fan ever since. So, thank you, cable TV for introducing this "city slicker" from Brooklyn to Gene Autry.

@fatjud1 Well. I'll give you half. Gene co-wrote the song with Ray. Gene made it a worldwide hit. Without his singing Ray or anyone else would not have had much. I still think Gene was the force behind the song as with so many others that he made standards. He was and still is the greatest Showman. Five Stars through and through. Happy New Year.
