You have to be fucking kidding me. you talk to 5 homeless people and think you have the info to make a "documenarty" spend a few years documenting and following the people. Job availablitily is NOT a major contributor to homelessnes you moron. The main guy you interview in the green jacket suffers from severe mental illness. I kno wthis because I have worked with him for years to try to obtain housing.
@Froggy1975 Oh wow, so rude I don't even know where to begin. Ok, let's see...
1) This was for SCHOOL. I got the assignment, and then a month to complete it. Including making a script, editing, ect. So your "spend a few years" point is invalid.
2) I had a time limit (5 minutes max), so that's why I only did a few interviews. Also, I had to get them all done in a day.
3) Don't think I mentioned that there's no available jobs, just that it's hard for them to find one (ie.mental illness)
@Froggy1975 Here here, Have to agree with you. This population is severly over-represented and oppressed. The co-current issues of mental health and addiction are just the surface. I found this video insulting. If you have the limited time of one month choose a topic that reflects some respect on the given population.
@BeavisDude88 Last call and over with for me "" my friend "", no need for this. But a game of chess does not give you an IQ rating, does it ??
Does not teach you how to survive. Maybe you shouldn't laugh your time may be coming too to fight for survival and be homeless without all the luxury of internet and whatnot. look around WW3 is not far... You will see that a WW is nothing like Afgan and the Irak war. My grand-father was in both WW1 and WW2, many more served both in those days..
@BeavisDude88 , Did you know " fuckin homo" that some of these so-called "bums" could and would educate you my little all mouth no brain friend. Yes, some of them are hooked on drugs and booze, but maybe if you would of lost what "some of them" lost in life,"aaand" to end up homeless, maybe you'd be hooked on something yourself.
@BeavisDude88 Are you familiar with the term economic dynasty? Or perhaps with the underlying mechanisms of capitalism? Go do some research and you will probably want to take back everything you just said. Also, there is a difference between a hippie and a compassionate human being.
@BeavisDude88 Hope u end up in those shoes one day my greedy little friend, and when u go hungry, starving I hope, like some of these people do,others will give YOU the very same line " look into my eyes " " we got no candy for you( little bum ) " Good thing your daddy gaved you everything he's been steeling from the company and the people for most of his life or else the spoiled little brat wouldn't have much to choke on,now would he ?
Obviously my comment went over your head. There are addresses he can use, even a shelter for working men. It's called Fort York, there are places to help with his resume, look into Ontario Works. What my point was is that there are a lot of jobs out there but the reason he can't get any is because he is an addict. Not because there are a lack of jobs. Also just because a homeless man said it doesn't make it true, as I work with the homeless and happen to know this man is housed.
A lot of the facts presented here are wrong. Most homeless aren't outside because of the lack of work but because of their trauma, addiction, and or mental health. Unable to maintain a job. There should be a great deal of empathy for this but if you look in most store windows there are job postings.
Also shelters are funded by the city and the people that work there are paid and not volunteers. More reseach really needed to be done on this.
@laladeedala My facts come straight from the homeless themselves. Don't tell me they can go right in to any store looking for work and get hired. Would YOU hire him? He mentions how a lot of people won't hire him because of his looks alone. Have you ever applied for a job? First, you need a resume. How is he supposed to type one up? Then he needs a phone number and address. What's he supposed to say? "Toronto-just yell really loud or ask other bums".
As a former homeless in Toronto myself back in the mid 90's and a panhandler in front of a little church just south of the corner of Bay/Richmond I believe what this man is saying,he is right. People who never experienced being homeless DON'T know the first thing about it, once on the street it becomes harder and harder as you lose your self esteem more and more as days go by. I just thank God for answering my prayers and was able to pick myself up off the ground.God Bless yall.
@laladeedala ALSO mentioned is how poor the conditions are in these shelters. Not only are they dirty, but they are filled with thieves and drug addicts. Homeless cherish the last bits of property they own, that they rather live outside than risk it getting stolen.
On mental health -Today on the news there was a man being interviewed who was participating in a walk to cure mental health diseases, and he said that he used to live on the streets because he suffered from depression.
Some arrogant Canadian emailed me telling me that Toronto had no homeless.I have been to Toronto several times. I've seen homeless in Toronto too many times too count.Canada is so full of propaganda. What are they trying to prove? I feel so sorry for the immigrants who land there thinking that it's all rainbows and unicorns in Canada. When will Canada be exposed?
@maybetuesday1790 Yes Canada is a haven for foreigners, most if not all homeless you see are white and Canadians.
Wanna see good living, see the suburbs and look in the mercedes and BMW's etc... look at the kind of people, wouldn't want to be racist on here for telling the truth now would we, just fucking look around. Our fucking goverment is giving our Country away to ousiders, they get the best service while commiting illegal entry, what do we get from our own ?? LOL fucking joke
Ohh and furthermore, if u are not from here and someone is trying to smuggle you in,, no more help fucking this country up is needed for now, " Don't call us, We'll call you ".
I,m 48 almost homless i got hit by car try to live on 700 per month i tryed to get help from citians avocotcy they refused to help dont ask me why i,m clean dont have any bad habbits i like eating thats my bad habit i live in dorval quebec i have ptsd from accident cant work on top of everything i have to worry of being evicted thats not a good feeling they say canada is rich why are there so many poor people lol
First of all, too many assholes look to fill their pocketsnow adays , and when we go to offices for help it goes by who you know as well. As I live in Québec too my friend we are NOT in the fucking province to get anything worth anything as far as help for " public help ". Bunch of crooked theives run this province section per section alll the way across one end to the other and I'm trying not to miss 1 cubic inch of it LOL. Foreigners get fillet mignion we get meatballs.
Umm....using "Baba O' Riley" was not a good idea here....it distracts way too much from the point of the documentary and I see little correlation between the song and the homeless theme. You also should have interviewed more homeless.
Want to try going around downtown Toronto with camera equipment, and only one person there to help you? The gear is borrowed from my school, so if someone steals it, I'm fucked. I spent most of the day there, and that is all I could find in that area.
I used this song because it made my life easy. It was just a bit over 5 minutes, and the video had to be EXACTLY 5 minutes. Didn't want to waste my time editing music when most of my marks come from the visuals. It also had a lot of instrumentals.
did you do this for Humber college ? Cause I'm preparing to do basically the same thing... lol
