Precisely, even the new "HD Plus" model which took the place of this one isn't true HD. It works on the same principal that video editing programs use when you render a SD video as HD. Not true HD, but not quite SD, it's somewhere in between.

hey, I got a Dazzle DVD Recorder and I hooked it up to my Wii and when I tried to record the gameplay for a quality test, there were horizontal lines flashing over the preview screen, and when I went to the file, the file type just said "File." Anybody know what's happening?

For what you're trying to do you don't NEED the splitters, you can plug one end of the red/white/yellow cables into your VCR and the other directly into the dazzle and it will work, I've done it this way when I used to record TV from my cable box and it worked fine. Same concept, just a VCR instead of a cable box.

My tv is a LCD Tv but I have the newest Xbox slim 250 GB which didn't came with the components and my tv doesn't have the Red , White and yellow slots so can I use a SCART lead for it ? It doesn't matter which version of windows you have. It's about the hardware inside your computer, if its not powerful enough it can't keep up with how fast the dazzle records which is what causes the lag. Figure out what your computer has then compare with the hardware requirements on the side of the dazzle box, then modify your computer so it exceeds the minimum requirements and then try to record again.

If you don't have the splitters I'm assuming you are watching the gameplay on your computer screen. There is a natural lag between what happens on your tv screen and when it shows up on your computer screen. But if there is lag when recording it means your computer isn't fast enough to record. You have to either upgrade your computer or get a new one that has well exceeds the hardware requirements for the dazzle

Do you have any other programs running while you are recording? I had that issue when I had programs running in the background. Turn off EVERYTHING except Pinnacle Studios, even your anti-virus program, if you can turn off your wi-fi or internet, turn that off too.

To my knowledge the HD Plus is just the Dazzle Plus that I have in this video, the only difference is the HD Plus comes with an extra codec that will make your videos look HD without actually being recorded in HD. I may be wrong but thats how I understood it when I read the description.

I've been using a Dazzle to record the scenes for my videos but now I want something brighter, cleaner, and crisper. Dazzles only record in standard definition. They work well enough but don't really give you maximum quality. I've been searching for videos for a Dazzle-like device that could record in HD, but so far have only found Composite devices and nothing HDMI that isn't plagued with problems. Maybe its too soon.

I said it in the video but you need 3 male to female splitters (1 male, 2 female) then you need a set of rca cables to go from one end of the splitter into your tv and you need the rca cables that will go from whatever game system you are using into the other end of the splitter.

Yes you need pinnacle studio, yes its included in the price of the dazzle. If you lose the disc for it or something and need to reinstall it you can buy just the software from Pinnacle's website.

The install cd IS the editor. It captures and edits, although the editing part of the program sucks pretty bad IMO, I just use it to capture video and use a separate program to edit it.
