OK he got it wrong and yeah, it cost Galarraga a PG, really tough way to blow a call. It got even more highlights cuz it was what would have been the last call of the game. But it was only one of 27 putouts that game. If it had happened in the second inning, no one would have said a word.

Nobody felt worse about this then Jim Joyce. He admitted that he blew the call and in his interviews he was almost crying about it. But I don't think they should of over turned the call. If they had over turned the call, the moment would have already been gone. The excitement that Galarraga would of had at that moment would of been gone. The heat of the moment would of been gone and if they had over turned the call it would not have been as special for him.

in my oppinion i think this all could have been avoided if the 2nd baseman fielded the ball instead of cabrera i think the play wouldnt have been as close which would have made it easier to make the out call.

well he didnt get the perfect game nor the no hitter but verlander made up for it yesterday may 7th 2011 and was a strike away from making it perfect but his 2nd no hitter makes it special neways.

I forgave Jim Joyce a long time ago, mainly because he manned up and admitted his mistake and you could tell how bad he genuinely felt. Now if it was someone like Joe West on the other hand...well I'll just leave it there.

There were so many perfect games and no-hitters last year it's tough to remember them all. Ten years from now it'll be tough to remember Ubaldo's or Dallas Braden's (unless you live in that team's town), and we might forget Halladay's if he wasn't a legend-in-the-making.
But I don't think any baseball fan will forget this. We'll remember the name, the team, the umpire, and everything about it. It might not be in the books, but it's hard to find someone who says he didn't get the job done.

OK he got it wrong and yeah, it cost Galarraga a PG, really tough way to blow a call. It got even more highlights cuz it was what would have been the last call of the game. But it was only one of 27 putouts that game. If it had happened in the second inning, no one would have said a word.

this clip is the perfect angle to see Miguel Cabrera move out of position, not knowing where his 2nd baseman is playing, to turn a routine putout into a close play where, yes, Jim Joyce admittedly got the call wrong

Nobody felt worse about this then Jim Joyce. He admitted that he blew the call and in his interviews he was almost crying about it. But I don't think they should of over turned the call. If they had over turned the call, the moment would have already been gone. The excitement that Galarraga would of had at that moment would of been gone. The heat of the moment would of been gone and if they had over turned the call it would not have been as special for him.

Give credit to Armando Galarraga for being very professional about this...Jim Joyce we all make mistakes, and it's okay...Selig should have overturned the decision, and made it a perfect game...Yes, instant replay is needed, they use it for home runs, why not expand it?

I understand the pitcher and the ump are at mutual respect and I think that speaks volumes about both of them as men. As far as I'm concerned the only one that came out of this stinking of filth was Bud Selig. He should have changed the ruling and given the kid his perfect game. Now we'll have to wait another 100+ years for another one.

@RichieEastside I feel like this is what separates baseball from other sports. This game will go down in history despite not being a perfect, it will be the almost perfect. And both the ump and the ref acted like baseballers afterwards. The game is imperfect, calls are subjective and baseball is often full of luck good and bad.
