  • Could I ask for the name of the track, and the band behind it?

Great aikido by the way - lovely to watch.

  • @1174Jeremy The band is: Cinematic Orchestra. The track is: 'Flite'

  • @Aikiman001 I don't doubt you have. I'm sure in your mind you really are incredible. It's such a shame the rest of the world doesn't train as hard as you do. But maybe we aren't as worried about that sword attack in the alley as you seem to be. How frivolous we must seem to you.

  • @Aikiman001 Sorry, what I am sharing are aikido videos, of aikidoka training aikido techniques.

My videos are there because of a love and respect for an art. An art that takes many forms, and has many styles and is practiced by many people for many reasons.

What you are sharing is a criticism of aikido, and a great majority of its practitioners.

Good luck on this path, hope it is fulfilling for you.

  • @Aikiman001 Wow, you are really hung up on that one aren't you? The thread starts with you criticizing someone else's technique, and goes on from there to you scoffing at some of the basic philosophies of a martial art you presume to be such an authority on. It is strange how you carry this 'aikiman' name here on youtube, with such a limited view on the myriad reasons people train, expressing disdain for other's philosophies or practices...It's quite funny.

  • @Aikiman001 This is where your single-mindedness fails you again. We repeat these things to people like you who only see the techniques, and feel the need to fit them into 'real world' applications. You clearly can't understand the philosophical side of the art. I'm not saying your way is wrong, just saying yet again to you that maybe you should realize there are many reasons people train, and to insult others shows a lack of understanding.

  • @Aikiman001 I understand why you feel the need to ignore the philosophical side of Aikido, it is clearly out of reach for you. Judging by your behaviour on youtube (troll), you would have much conflict in your life, since you clearly seek it out. So good luck training for 'real encounters', as your attitude will likely bring them on. The rest us will continue train for the beauty of the art, the philosophy, the jo & bokken kata, and for fun, exercise, and an appreciation of the art.

  • @Aikiman001 Remember why we are having this discussion in the first place? It was you who came along and passed judgement on someone else's training. So I'm not sure why you need to carry the discussion back to another conversation I had (with a troll, similar to you). We can see that I do practice Aikido, I have videos from my very own dojo. You? You've shared with us the fact that you are just another troll, who is obviously an armchair ninja. Where is your dojo? Your mom's basement?

  • @Aikiman001 You allege to train in aikido...yet here you are discounting the words of the founder, and discounting the training of others. Perhaps you should change your name to No-kiman, since you clearly don't even know what aiki stands for. Do you know what an internet troll? Look it up if you don't, it defines you perfectly. And don't worry about me needing to feel important & knowledgeable...I'm just responding to a sad man who insists his worldview is the only valid one.

  • @Aikiman001 If you want to sit back and scoff at the viewpoint of the founder of this art, you are just showing everyone here your arrogance, and disrespect. I see your youtube page has a great video you've shared. A videogame you've played. So who is worried about being taken seriously? While you're at home playing games, and insulting videos, the real aikidoka in my video are getting together and training, which is more than you've shown anyone here...a real internet ninja.

  • @Aikiman001 seriously...you can't come with anything better? I've looked at your youtube page...it seems all you do is insult other peoples videos. A real internet ninja. Too bad your life is so full of negativity. I actually feel sorry for you.

  • Here are quotes from the FOUNDER of Aikido: 'As soon as you concern yourself with the 'good' and 'bad' of your fellows, you create an opening in your heart for maliciousness to enter. Testing, competing with, and criticizing others weaken and defeat you.' - 'Aiki is not a technique to fight with or defeat an enemy. It is the way to reconcile the world and make human beings one family.' Good luck with your training, you really put Aikido to shame...

  • @Aikiman001 Wow, Nancy? Really? Sorry you are stumped and have to resort to name calling, but I guess it proves my point that you are ignorant, and clearly arrogant. Who says training in Aikido is a 'complete' system anyways? I surely didn't. Maybe you to watch too much UFC and think somehow you need to relate Aikido to this. I'm sorry you have such a narrow view. Remember, you came onto this page throwing criticisms...I am just calling you out on it.

  • @Aikiman001 Remember who initially criticized these aikidoka based upon one video. How do you know what else they may practice? How do you know what there skill level is now, or their philosophy towards the Art? You said 'when will aikidoka learn this'...As if you have some clear vision of what their level of understanding is. This shows your arrogance. I'm not in these videos, so I am not taking this too personally, just pointing out that you show a lack of respect for others.

  • @Aikiman001 You are welcome to your opinion, and to train to your own desires. What is clear is that you have a lack of respect for other peoples abilities, and goals. As well you show a lack of understanding of the fundamental principles on which Aikido is based. Maybe you have forgotten that this is a martial art. Certainly watching one video doesn't give you a clear insight into the practice of other aikidoka. Criticize away, but all you are sharing with us is your own ignorance.

  • @Aikiman001 I'm trying to understand where you are going with this line of comment... Are you assuming that you somehow have a better understanding of 'how attacks change'? You certainly seem to be propping yourself up as more informed than other aikidoka...You might be, though by the sounds of it you may only have an inflated ego. What is your goal in studying Aikido? Perhaps your training expectations are different than others? Give that some though before you criticize...

  • Againt a resisting opponent in Aikidou, it is the same. The difference is time, and mastery. Anyone can learn to brawl, not everyone can learn to fall. Waza of Yoshinkan Aikidou generates immeasurable power to some other martial arts, but it takes years of experience and confidence. Nothing hits harder than the ground. This is why I am glad that I do so much Ukemi. :)

  • The point of Aikido as o'sensei Ueshiba was not combat but find the way of harmony. Martial arts are not only about just combat. If you think that then it is clear you've only watch Hollywood movies.

And trust me in real life Aikdio is usful to control an attacker without killing him. In training your partner only places him /her self to help train moves.

  • You know thats all fine and dandy against an attack that you know is coming, and you have already trained your opponent on how to fall when the move comes. But in reality, an attacker wont come at you with a pre determined move in slow motion. And thats when your faulty training will fail you.

  • In "reality" the attacker isn´t my partner at the dojo..

At this time, there is so mercy and I don´t have to care about that my opponent knows to fall.

There are many Aikidoka who do Aikido only to be fit,

but there are still people who train it as a martial art ;)

sorry for the poor English ^^

  • Aikido is a powerful form of self-defense against single/multiple armed/unarmed attackers. It is also a Martial ART. The aim of Aikido is to avoid conflict, make your enemy your friend. It is an art of peace. You miss the point, and clearly know little about Aikido.

I'd like to know what sort of training you have that let's you think you have any understanding of what you've seen in this video...

  • If you had any martial arts training you would understand something very important. If we didn't 'plan' attacking techniques and slow them down, we'd all be injured or worse, and be unable to continue to train at all. I want my Aikido partners to get back up when I'm done the techniques, so I can try them again! We also work at different speeds depending on our level of experience.

  • Look up this video: Steven Seagal Black Belt Test (part 2)

Aikido training has more credit than most. Training is slower at the start so that a student is able to perfect a technique. Aikido is an art where if you cut corners, your technique will be flawed and thus has weakness. If an aikido technique is perfected, it can be brutal.

I challenge alot of other martial arts to give Randori a shot. I doubt many will pass.

  • While its been a year since this post I need to point out one fundamental error - training slow is good for building muscle memory. Muscle memory is formed by your nervous system learning how to route impulses to make your body move the way it needs to move for the technique.

Moving slowly requires far more impulses to be sent than one quick movement, thus your nervous system has far more of the required repetitions to acquire the motor skills necessary for performing a technique.

  • So. . .basically you're saying slow is good. A good example of this is Tai Chi Chuan.

    Insightful post, thank you.

  • In terms of learning the muscle memory this is absolutely correct. Whether or not this makes for good application against a resisting opponent instead of fast, hard sparring is another issue ;) The best solution is a combination of hard practice and this type of slow, precise movement as the founder of Judo said training should be done.

But for Tai Chi, Aikido, Kenjutsu, etc where the goal is perfection of the movement this is absolutely correct.
