Very nice playing! The song is lovely as well. It is a very piece full of expression, and you played it well. May I ask, as I am unfamiliar with the Canadian RCM system, do the grades go along with school grades, or are they different? Thank you. And again very beautiful playing. :)
Hey Josh - Again, that was a fantastic performance. Summer just began for me so I've decided to put together some ARCT pieces. I needed a list C piece so I was inspired by you to learn this piece. Perhaps it's because we have different scores, but at 1:55, the Cb is supposed to be held according to my score until it resolves down to Bb in the next bar. This held Bb comes back again at around 2:02. It's just something I noticed so I wanted you to know. I hope you have a great summer!
@onslow28 - You're far too kind. Thanks for your generous comments. My music teacher (magically) obtains music from God-knows-where and, poof, I'm learning it. I'm happy that you enjoyed the music!
Perhaps you can think of another way of saying "thenique (sic) is very bad."
I'm but 14 years old and have lots to learn - that's for sure; however, it's not encouraging - or even helpful - to have such a pejorative comment.
Perhaps you can be more specific - say at 5:17 the Gb octave is (far) too loud (it is) ... or that kind of comment instead of a general overall damnation.
Anyways, thanks for your comment as depreciatory as it is! I'll continue to work hard.
I don't think that 'musicpiano14' speaks English well or even at all. Maybe he's using a computer translator that's giving him these awkward language skills (and spellings).
You're doing a great job, kid! I play piano pretty well and I see nothing terribly wrong with your technique. I don't play at the professional level though. It's too bad musicpiano14 can't give specifics of why your playing is, according to him, very bad.
Also, since you did this piece so well and you really seem to enjoy it, I'd recommend looking at Granados's "The Maiden and the Nightingale" as a possible ARCT piece.
Again, wonderful job. I would never have guessed, from an audio recording alone, that this was from the same young man who played the Nocturne and other pieces just a short while ago. Keep it up; you have got a great talent.
Wow, this piece is so pretty and evocative. It kind of reminds me of Liszt's "Liebestraum", and I find it hard to believe that this is from the same composer who wrote "Islamey".
Your playing has become so much better! I guess playing those nocturnes really did move you, didn't it. You did this wonderfully; the whole way you had so much control over all the voices, which I think is so important for a piece like this with so many soaring runs and moody chords at the same time.
Many thanks for your generous encouragement. I listened to Granados's "The Maiden and the Nightingale" and it's hauntingly compelling as well. I'm learning some Rachmaninoff and a Chopin Etude now - both are challenging but incredibly rewarding. Again, thanks for your kind words.
Well done! Very nicely interpreted, the sadness is well captured. I liked where you put your rubatos. One suggestion: at 5:20, a decrescendo would've been nice, and coming at the first trill should be at pianissimo, though its not easy with the accelerando there, but that's really your opinion, afterall, this is your interpretation of the piece. Your trills and scale passages were played with clarity and great dexterity.
Simply wonderful playing! I'm so glad that I stumbled upon this - it's made my day. All the best and am looking forward to more of this caliber of playing from you.
Josh, I missed this because you posted the week we moved and life has been hectic. Your playing has matured a lot! This is a great choice for you. I can feel your inspiration! You love it and your playing makes me love it , too. Keep up the fabulous work! Bravo!
An impressive and stylistic performance of this classic romantic piece today. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am looking forward to other classical performances from you. Congratulations and keep up the great work!
Gahh, wow, I can really see the ... passion... and love... when you played this, its all there so... boldy! :] You sure do have talentt, pal. I was sent here by Simon himself, and I think I might just thank himm extra now ;]
Incredible mature playing presented with passion and technical excellence. This was a joy to listen to - and I haven't even watched in HD yet! Congratulations.
