If the vehicle has run-on electric rad fans, the battery can be drained after useage. Combine this with short trips and low revs, and eventually, the battery weakens. Always put on a trickle charge after each trip. Some alternators work better with fully charged batteries. A battery voltage check does not indicate charged state, always. Banging on a starter is witchcraft, and may summon an underworld demon that devours Kraft dinners.
Electrical problem. Honda's are good, if you take care of them. Just like any other car. Replace/charge your battery, then see if the same sound occurs. If so, it's your starter. Bang on it to get by, but replace it soon. Timing belts also need replaced in these cars. As well as air fresheners. Can't be a stinky driver. :)
This is old now but, if the starter WASNT engaging the flywheel, as SergentSiler suspected, then you should be able to see that fact by your accessory drive belts/pulleys not moving when cranking. IF the starter is functioning properly then check for fuel and spark! Be sure that no wires/cables, especially GROUNDS are left unfastened etc..
Check ur starter if you rebuild it you might have missed a screw or something, in the future just buy a new starter, or buy one that was rebuild by a professional!!!
Than hold the gas pedal a litle bit, and get contact, ONLY CONTACT. Just turn the key 3 times on/off, but don't start the car. When you did it, Try to start the car, but only just 1 second. Then turn the key of, and try again and again, otherwise you need to check the sparkplug.
Definitely a dead battery, you can tell from the sound and the way the dash lights take a few seconds to come back on, they go from very dim to bright.
If you got the battery replaced make sure there isn't something left on like a trunk light or dome light. Even alarms can be a suspect.
bad starter. have it checked. nothing wrong with your electrical system and battery because all lights and other stuff are working.

it maybe corroision on the battery pick ups or at the starter. take a brass brush to it and it should be good.

Did you pump the bith??
You need to pump the gas 15/20 times.

Either the battery you inserted was flat originally, or you have bad terminals. I'd eexchange them both if I were you.
