it doesn't sound like a V8 because it uses a flat plane crank shaft. That "V8 sound" aka burbling, is a trademark of more conventional cross plane crankshafts found in muscle cars, trucks, other V8's. Flat planes are used in racing cars. Why? They can rev faster because there are no counterbalancers. Downside is vibration. Racecars don't care about vibration.

The sound you are hearing here is a result of even firing, so it screams. Cross plane is uneven firing, so it burbles.
