  • Dont tell me i suck, im only 15 and ive been playing for 2 years.

I dont believe you! If you saying the truth then you are so talented. 2 years of playing and instrument arent enought for this . anyway nice playing!

  • What's the wire crossing bass channel 1 and guitar channel 2 doing? Does it actually change or effect anything?

  • can you plug in 2 instruments?

  • NICE PROPS TO BONAMASSA AT 03:10! HELL YEA!

  • @rwbrdms1 That's ZZtop dumbass

  • @Christelebelle first of all, Fuck you for being a jerk. Secondly thats just got paid by Joe Bonamassa after the intro you stupid fuck. 03:10

  • The sound quality is great and I like your playing. And I can't hear any suckiness in your playing. I wouldn't have guessed that you had been playing for only 2 years.

  • HEY THE BASSMAN SOUNDS WAY BETTER THAN THE HRDx, I know because I had a HRDx and sold it, and got a bassman 100 silverface, the bassman smokes it every which way, better clean by far, and better bass, the bassman is a lot more bell like, just a hole better amp, the hrdx overdrive is loose and flabby, I hated it

  • This would be nice for all purposes. Its not to big or to small

  • Sounds so thin......

  • is the bassman 100 to loud for home use, what I mean is, I live in a detached house, so next door is 25 metres away, and it would be going in the garage, so it is not a big problem disturbing house guests, as garage is at the other end of house, not sitting room end, is this to loud for garage use ? if it is I am going to have to keep looking for a silverface deluxe reverb or silverface princeton reverb ( bummer ) as the bassman is way better sounding.

  • @UKToneKing

Get some good earplugs, and some understanding neighbors, and crank that thing up.

  • Whoever said this thing is not for punk, listen to Rise and Fall from Belgium and be amazed by the tone the guitar player pulls out of his Bassman. Probably has a modded head but nonetheless, it's great for punk because it's affordable, easy to mod and overall the sound is awesome :)

  • This does not sound good, guys. Get a real tweed deluxe, not a reissue, a real one.

  • DUDE O_O You're only 15 (well, I'm 14 but anyway) and you've got a Bassman. Lucky bastard ! I hope you play some Brian Setzer stuff on it ;D

  • I don't remember my bassman having reverb.....

  • I'm getting a fender bassman head this week :):)

  • Suddenly i felt like listening to Bread...is that a bad thing?

  • @thehornypuppy no , not at all , they are awesome ! haha

  • great tones! and fantastic music taste... just got paid, china groove... NICE!

  • hi

why do you need to jump the amp ?

i didn't know fender amp could do that ?

but what is the result for ?

  • man don't worry about people telling you suck cause i watched a bunch of bassman demos and this is by far the best one i seen , i'm getting one in a few weeks !

  • you play really well if you've only played for 2 years. wow. Don't Bassmans rock? I have a 59 Bassman and it's not a reissue and it's the Cadillac of hand wired amps. No wonder Jim Marshall copied the circuit for his heads.

  • What would happen if you put a delay pedal in the jumper cable? Would it work well?

  • @1971SuperLead im gonna try it!

  • @guns1rose My advice is to experiement with the levels on the delay and on the bass channel of the Bassman. One way would give you a clean but delayed signal and the other would give you a distorted delayed signal. Also, I would use a stereo delay and configure it so that only the delayed signal enters the bass channel. One might try an overdrive pedal before the delay as well and use for a distant but overdriven delay tone. The possibilities are endless it seems.

  • not made for metal... pssssshhhhhh

tell that to my distortion pedal.

  • mmm...creamy!

  • Talk more about the jumper cable between channels.

is the 2 output of the guitar channel sending signal to channel 1 of the bass side? do you have to move the bass side controls at all or is jumping it just enough? anything else? im going to pick up a 68 bassman pretty soon.

  • great playing and tone!

  • Hi over there,

    I'm from Bavaria ( Germany )

first of all - great sound and great playing!!!

This is really what i'm looking for... and you really don't use an pedal on this?

Can you help me to find an amp like this and make the mod thing?

    Thank you very much

  • Oh yeah, and NEVER! EVERRRRRR! .....sell this amp!

  • Dude! Amp sounds TIGHT! and you have pretty great chops for only 2 years of playing! LOTS of guys are watching this now and getting JEALOUS! Lol! Thanks for posting!

  • Great demo. I also have a 66 bassman (no mods that I know of - just got it) and I am wondering if it is possible to jumper the channels without having any modifications done to the amp. Do you know if this is possible?

    Thanks!

  • @maxxm28 yeah dude you can jumper the channels. I do that on my 67 all the time and it sounds great.

  • @andr123w Thanks for that, I'll try it out tonight. One more question you might know about. My 66 Bassman has a switch on the back up is for diod and down is for pentode. Do you know what this is? I am assuming it has been added and the amp was not manufactured with this switch.

    Cheers.

  • @maxxm28 yeah this is a mod someone did. Sounds like they just rewired the power tubes in pentode and triode and put a switch on there.

  • This is really awesome, in terms of volume, its loud enough to play most places without being miked up right?

  • @Scrapod heck yeah! usually ill stick it on 4 and use and OCD pedal, but if im in a really big place, or outdoors, i can crank it up more.

  • @guns1rose Wow really great!!!

Can you send me the link to John Hanor? - Because I want that amp too ;o)

    Best to ya' all from

    Bavaria

    captainjamestcry

  • @Scrapod hello ross, I have found you

  • awesome sounding amp!! really great id love to have one

  • tone!

  • There is no way you are 15. Too much knowledge for tone, man. If you are really 15, wow you have a big future ahead of you...

  • fantastic demo, you are getting some great sounds form this amp. much better than any of those reissues that fender just put out. and i gotta say, you are good for only playing 2 years!

  • Dont let anyone tell you you suck at 2 years in, everyones been there, and you sound great.

  • hey dude nice amp! i am thinking in buying this one myself, i'm choosing between a marshall jcm 800 or this one right here, by the way can you tell me how good is it?

  • Your tone with "Just Got Paid" is awesome :)

  • Thank you for being one of very few people on YouTube who use a proper microphone for these types of videos! I am so sick of people showing off how good their setup is, but they use a camcorder mic!

BTW, for 2 years of playing, this is damn good buddy!!!

  • wow perfect china grove tone! thats an amazing amp!

  • Holy ****, awesome tone and playing! Is your Bassman modded to have more gain than usual, or do all Bassmans sound this good?

  • What's the song from 0:00 to 0:30? It reminds me something...

  • awesome!

  • Whats that thing with the jumper between the channels? Is it your trick to get it to overdrive? I have a twin reverb ab763 maybe I should try the same... just for fun.

  • @perfuzz - With your amp having vibrato on the second channel, it wouldn't really do anything beneficial... better for you to get an A/B footswitch to enable you to have foot-switchable reverb.

With the Bassman, the jumper between the Bass and Normal channels is basically feeding the guitar signal into both channels at the same time, and it gives you a fatter tone; plus you don't have to change jacks to switch between a deep or bright tone, just turn the volume knobs.

  • @perfuzz - Scratch that... I forgot Twin Reverbs have footswitches already :P no need for an A/B pedal.

  • dude your really good!

  • I recognize that first countryish song/lick from one of the Fender video demos. Great playing by the way, not just for someone playing for 2 year, but that makes it even more impressive.

    OH yea....nice tone!

  • You were only 15? dang man, nice playing. And nice set up here. I have a chance to buy a vintage '65 bassman for 650 dollars. Might just have to take advantage of that opportunity..

  • what's the point of the patch cable between the two channels?

  • @charlieenders Jumping channels, it gives it a boost. From what I know, its basically what a tube screamer does. The tube screamer just has an on/off button.

  • Some lovely classic '66 tones there... That sounds a rare example. Cherish it!

  • Wow.. what a great amp! Have the 59' bm RI... But its hard to crank it before blowing the whole house down... its so fu*king loud! But clean.

  • Never sell that amp, unless you're offered a few grand or more.

  • @biggerbigd Ill NEVER sell this amp... Its got too much sentimental value now. my first vintage amp!

  • honestly, I don't think you suck...

and I can see why your fav is your fav.,

    the tone is phenomenal!!!

    Its unbelievable!

  • Tell us about the jumper idea. I've never seen that used. Great tone and nice playing!

  • Well, its an old trick, but is can only be used on amps where the channels are pretty much the same. Cant be done on Deluxe Reverb and such, because the channels are out of phase (from all the extra circutry in the vibrato channel). It just makes it so you an mix the two channels together!

  • @guns1rose

I have a '73 Bassman that I also jump. But I input to the bass channel then jump to the normal channel. Is there a standard way or is it a preference?

My amp is also modded with mid-range controls on both channels.

  • @guns1rose Do you think I could do this with my Peavey StereoChorus 400?

  • this doesn't sound like only two years of playing experience.

  • thanks

  • If you are 15 and you've been playing only for two years you're reaaaaaally talented. :) Keep on groovin'... :)

  • This amplifier is not meant for punk,it is a rock/blues amplifier.

  • @SKejtzazivot - Tell that to Mike Ness of Social Distortion. He plays a 66 Bassman blackface, modded by Billy Zoom through a Marshall 4x12 cab.

  • Yeah, see that. Modded. That's the key.

You can put a marshall inside the bassman but it will still be a bassman. Catch my drift? :D

  • I've seen many punk bands use this amp.

  • @SKejtzazivot not true. Mike Ness plays a Modified Bassman

  • @lukatme2 Jesus Christ. Can you see modified in the sentance. I already said it on this vid. You can mod a Blues Junior to be a high gain amp.

You can change the tubes, the transformers, a few more things and there you go.

    A high gain tube amp.

  • @SKejtzazivot gee whiz, settle down kid. Your right, it's a blues amp, but you can play punk on it and furthor more, you dont need a "hi gain" amp for punk. I see you are just 16 and so you dont know, but they had punk back in the days when you just used the amps naural break up to play with. Now stop lecturing everyone and be nice.

    Your friend in music

  • @lukatme2 Okay. You're right.

  • @SKejtzazivot Tell that to Mike Ness

  • @SKejtzazivot And rockabilly. :)

  • @SKejtzazivot but i'm sure it does punk amazing.

  • @SKejtzazivot

Nevermind was recorded with one of these....

  • i forgot to tell you , check out 2 of my favorite playerse on here , frankie starr , and jim weider , i think youll like both !

  • im impressed really ... nice playin .

who got you into music , older brother or dad ?

  • Im an only child. My dad cant play anything at all.

I guess i just wanted a guitar, so i started playing.

  • nice overdrive! no pedal will ever be needed

  • Can you do a video with a good OD pedal put infront of this amp?

  • What's involved in hot-rodding the bass channel?

  • Theres a bunch of different mods you can do to the Bass channel. Right now, i have the Dumble mod.

Just changing a few caps and resistor values.

  • That's good to know because the stock bass channel isn't all that great for guitar.

  • Can you bridge channels on any non-reverb Fender amp?

  • A 15 years old would be playing slipknot, and would never mod an amp.. that's for the older home players with a lot of internet hours in their backs.

  • @triviani1234 I'm 15, love these things too. Not a big slipknot fan either.

  • waha you 15 xD

    don't belive it man!!!!

    You rule:P

could you tell me what songs you played?:O escpecialy the blues(so almost all:P)

  • haha thanks man!

lets see they where all really little doodles that i made up on the spot.

except for at 3:11, thats called Just got paid by zz top. and at 3:37, thats China Grove by the doobie brothers.

    Thanks,

    Tyler

  • Your 15 years old and only playd guitar for 2 years, and you know that mutch about amps, you got an expensive bassman and you can play like this, I do not even beleive half of it, but if thats really thru, than..... your Good!

  • dang man. im impressed. only two years? that sick. your tone is pretty happenin, and this video really helped me get a good understanding of the amp and its tone. thanks, bro.

  • this amp is the tits!

P.S. keep this shit up, take lessons, get gigs, and dont ever work a 9-5 job, you got talent.

    Passion=Success

  • hi! i'm interested to know why your using

3 of the inputs on your amp what does this do,not seen it done is it like using 2

speakers in the same cab at the same time.please could you let me know.

oh yeah! your a great musician and 15 i'm impressed

    cheers!

    john

  • Would it work to plug the guitar into the Input 1 of the Bassman (Blues DeVille) and have the Input 2 go to the input of another amp, like a marshall amp head?

  • Yes - This is how you would go about chaining amps. You lose tone though - You'll see.

  • what tubes do you have in this?

  • POWER SECTION: 2 Sovtek 5881s

    PHASE INVERTER : A JJ Ecc81

PREAMP: 12ax7lps for the normal channel, and a sovtek 12ax7c for the modded bass channel.

  • cool

    how did you record this?

did u use a usb interface or something to plug the sm57 into?

  • 57 plugged into pa system,

cord comes out of headphone jack on pa into computer.

    recorded with acid music studio.

  • thanks!

  • how much was it and where did you get it?

  • $300 bucks off craigslist

  • That is a pretty good deal for such a great sounding amp.

  • GREAT demo video! I've wanted to check out the bassman since I was a kid.

P.S. When I was 15 I'd only been playing for 2 years also. Back then I couldn't touch your skill level with a 10 foot pole. :) I'd love to hear you in another year or 2. Keep it up, kid. You've got more than what it takes.

    TK

  • until i read that you were 15 i thought you were like an old gu who can whale

  • Nice tones! I've owned a few old Bassman heads over the years, and none of mine ever sounded nearly as good as yours. Nice pickin' too!

  • Thanks alot Man!!!!

  • Great playing and the amp sounds fantastic!

  • Been watching your videos this evening. Only 2 years playing? You're a natural. Most your age would be playing drop tuned, one finger chords. Wow, you're keeping the good music alive kid!!!! There's not much that beats a strat into any old style Fender amp. Been jumping my channels together since the 60s. Good luck to you, keep your head straight, follow your dreams................start writing your own stuff too. Rock on!

  • OK I just tried my Bassman with the two channels hookes together like you have it here and......... WOW !!!! what a HUGE !!! difference, even at low volume it has nuts for days... I can't wait untill I can crank it up at my next gig.

  • cool!!! Im glad i could help!!!

  • Amazing tone!! :)

    10*

  • wow awesome! sounds really nice and clean!

  • can you explain what the loop from bass one to normal 2 is doing for you. is that part of the mod? I have the exact same year and chassis basman and would love to get it sounding this good.

  • yeah, its just like your guitar having stero outputs. If the channels sound different, you can blend them together to hear a little of both. It also works when you plug your guitar into Bass 1, and take a patch from Bass 2 to normal 1.

  • This trick makes such great sounds. Wish I could find a Bassman, or had the money :P

  • check your local Craigslist!! i put a wanted add for mine, and got it for $300.

  • So this can be done on any bassman ? I have never heard or seen anyone doing this before. Mine is completey original bone stock

  • any bassman. make sure you plug the all the cables in before you turn the amp on, or else it will be a very loud pop, like unplugging your guitar with your amp turned to 10 :-I

  • You can also do this with other amps that have 2 channels and 2 inputs for each channel. But it depends on how the channels sound. You wouldn't want to mix a clean and high gain channel together

  • yeah i love jumping the channels on my bassman

you get a really nice drive out of it

i also do this on my brothers marshall and the tone is great

  • Your playing has just went up like 100 notches in my book dude! WOWWOWOW!!!! So bluesy.....i love it! How are you getting the crystal clear sound quality?

  • idk i just micd the amp, recorded it, and was like HOLY CRAP!!!! I mixed it with acid music studio....

  • I love it!!!!! This is top-notch tone and playing man!!!!
