  • FLIPPING ADVERTS.

  • heard this first in 68 never forgotten it a classic

  • @snipestar1147 I disagree with you in one thing: Those good songs and singers/bands are not dead, and surely will never be forgotten.

It's us who make this great music stay alive and preserve their age as the day they we're once written. For us twenty-something year old people, our parents taught us about music and we preserve it, as the great gift it is. And i will gladly educate my kids with these wonderful songs.

  • spaghetti western beat

  • I grew up in the Beatle early years era, but this song is just one of the best songs ever, it just sound ageless.

    Reinaldo Bigwolf,

  • STILL IT SOUNDS GREAT! FABULOUS!!!!!

  • wow am 21 n love this song remember singing along wi ma dad wen i was lil, oh the memories, RIP dad <3 x

  • I was in my twenties then. What a great era that was. Good music. I'd just found the love of my life, and living was easy. A bedsit in Ealing, parties every Saturday. (Sigh !!!)

  • @livesteam You Lucky Lucky sod!

I envy you, I was 4 when this came out, so I missed the 60s pretty much!

  • Their music will live on, Dave Dee can eternally rock with the greats who've gone to the big gig in the sky (and enjoying every minute i hope).

I've been a fan since childhood of the band, but only got to see the live performance of their stuff during their last tour as part of the Solid Silver Sixties lineup (just before Dave Dee passed on) - and they were the only group act that was still in it's first lineup - and they still sounded awesome as though the years simply hadn't passed :)

  • The good old times are still alive...

    ;)

  • Wonderful video and. I still love these boys and listen everyday to this song.

  • dunno about the wife but sure gets ME in the mood.....was 15 when this one came out ( took me a few more years before I `came out` mind you... great song

  • this song always gets my wife in the mood, think its the whip

  • Thank you for posting this classic tune that SHOULD'VE been a U.S. hit as well - does anyone else hear the theme from 1960s Magnificent 7 movie playing throughout this song? Was that announcer wearing a blonde wig? DAVEDJ

  • @Multi1628 He most certainly was not! Said announcer is legendary English DJ, TV presenter, ex-professional wrestler, childhood ambition fulfiller, train-travel enthusiast, seat-belt populariser, tireless charity worker, septagenarian marathon runner, all-round good guy and genuine national treasure, Sir Jimmy Saville OBE. Granted, he might have been dyeing his hair all these years, but it's all his :-)

  • @Ruskellnw1 You really do know your history - it was that it looked so styled/perfect I could've mistaken it for a wig. DAVEDJ

  • @Ruskellnw1 Thank you for the info! I love that combination of weird haircut, the jumper and that accent. :-)

Now I will look this man up... ;) Is that a Leeds' accent??

BTW: Thank you for the clip, nyrainbow4.

  • wat a classic love this tune..

  • v této době sem začal vnimat zapadní populární hudbu hlavně houpačku

  • @divok57 ....Já díky "Laxíku" 2-3 roky předtím,ale dodneška nepřekonané písničky..

  • What a voice pure personifies the 60's.

  • Can't remember how old I was but one of my music memories from way back in the past...ThanksXX

  • Just one of the greatest songs of the sixties - and hasn't aged unlike many songs which were thought cooler at the time.

  • @polecatcontinuum yep we had great music and laughst at school in the late 1960s - no mobile fones, WIFI or colour TV - what you saw WAS what you got...

  • @polecatcontinuum It's stupidly good!

  • Guitar was played bu Big Jim Sullivan.

  • Brings back childhood memories

  • The best. Singer, group and song.

  • now! thats what i call singing, now-a-days its all noise

  • A long time favorite.

  • What a stylish song. Love it, love it, love it !

  • Tank God I lived this good times...

  • thank God i was in my teens when this song was recorded!!!!! great song, one of the best of all times .

  • just awesome!!

  • devendra banhart sounds a lot like this

  • Host is pretty scary ,what language is he speaking.?

  • @scrumsie That would be the one and only (thank God) Sir Jimmy Saville.

A complete weirdo, but he's raised millions for charity, so can't knock him.

  • How did this group not hit it big in the US? They were awesome!

  • annoying how it misses the very ending

  • get me my whip!

  • Their greatest (and oddest) song.

  • Fantastic group and amazing song.

  • So glad I was a teenager in this era.

  • gibt es die gruppe heute überhaupt noch, aus welchem land kamen sie??

  • Classic!

  • Thank you !

  • What is that, a musical whip??

  • This is fucking wonderful.

  • Only took me 15 years to find the name of the song. It was on the soundtrack of a stupid comedy movie featuring Thomas Gottschalk.

  • Where's Mick these days? I used to see him teaching drivers around Salisbury, but no more. Where are you Mr Wilson?

  • I don't get the Mexican/Western theme but I do totally get the gay Admiral Nelson gear on the lead singer. He clearly inspired the creator of the Xanadu movie to come out and do his own thing.

  • Az egyik legjobb szám ettől az együttestől! Imádom! Köszi!

  • love this, reminds me of when I was a kid dancing round the room to the song,

didn't really know what the song was about, just loved the way it was put together!!

  • yeh rip dave dee-one of my first singles

  • super geiler oldie

  • THE BEST.XX>

  • i love this song cant stop watching it, i was 9 in 1968 but can remember dancing to it on the radio, dave is so fit, you sexy beast, R.i.p.dave you left us only last year wish i saw you.

  • wish I had a time machine

  • @kopynd so do I, IF THEY EVER INVENT ONE WE CAN GO TOGETHER.

  • I think there has never been a better time then the '60-s and early '70-s

  • @JFtamara24 YOU ARE SO RIGHT ON .X.

  • @JFtamara24 Agree totally

  • this is my favorite song of there's because i'm a little obsessed with bullwhips i love this band and i love classic rock and this is one of the best bands ever XDDDDDDDDDDDD and i think that htey are some of the best song writers ever too

  • My girlfrien at the time that this single was released, just loved Dave Dee, I was never bitter though...Bitch! actually I adored this band, still do R..I.P.Dave.

  • good music

  • Yes - at this time Musicians Union regulations required the track had to be re-recorded before the broadcast.

  • Did they not used to re-record the song as Live because of some musicians agreement they had, then played this recording in the studio but it was all done in the days leading up tpo the show.

  • I seem to remember him hitting one of the band in the face on one occassion with the whip; It got to the stage with the Monkees they werent on the record they were miming to

  • It's not unreasonable to think that, as there are no trumpet players on stage, even though you can hear them, that the whip being used is not producing the whip sounds. Just thinkin is all.

  • Top of the Pops was famous for miming to sound tracks. Try watching some old footage - guitars not plugged in, singers not singing into the mic etc etc

  • However it was done it was brilliant.

  • when i was young the news was that the whip sound was from a milk bottle strumded across the guitar strings

  • The 1960s the very best time for music

  • @burnley5960 iam with you on that 100%

  • @tomato6999 Exactly

  • One of my favorites......

  • Der Peitschenklng ist das Non plus Ultra

  • This band had a unique sound like no other. Also one of the few (maybe the only) bands to use a whip on stage! Superb.

  • @Sarahfreckle i know a few women who used a whip on stage haha

  • I loved this when I was a kid. I thought it was in colour though on TOTP's.

  • Thanks for posting this, I have listened to this a thousand times on my old cassette, but it was nice being able to watch it, I just love this song, I could listen to it all day long.

  • @AceWand

hat doesnt explain how long a piece of string is?

  • Did England ever had Bad singers in the 60's-70's??Can't think of any!!! Super harmony voices this band...and my fave song from them and still is! Thank God my 2 older sisters had a lot of 60' s records...and so got to know a lot of them singers or bands...Best years! At least every member of any band COULD play an instrument themselves..no PC or Synth.. sounds like nowadays.Doesn't mean I don't like the music they made through all the years, but then it was more about real voices&music!Great vid!

  • sounds perfect...exactly that's what you will get...kkkkkkk

  • Saw the band several times in Manchester, up till a short time before Dave died. For live performances - they simply could not be faulted. I would rate them top harmony vocal band (yes even above The Hollies one of my fave bands too). Great memories!

  • Fannytastic....first record I ever bought and I still have it !

  • First one I ever bought as well ! Fantastic!

  • great song and group.love them .

  • Beaky is a top bloke. Met him at a pub in Croydon once and he was a real gent.

  • What the hell is that announcer saying??? That whip is unreal!!!!! Didn't Austin Powers parody that???

  • Thats Jimmy Saville, also know als "Jim wil fix it"

  • Great song and band. RIP Dave Dee.

  • Saw them last year in Manchester and they were fantastic. Dave was so fit running round the stage and acting silly with that whip! He introduced his young daughter to the audience, so sorry that he died recently. RIP Dave you certainly made me smile and loved the music. Suz x

  • Bet this song sounds better in spanish.

  • thanks for posting this

    great memories of the 60s

  • intro sounds kinda like muse - knights of cydonia

  • xanadu makes me feel alive! :D

  • THANX for sharing !!!

    Must admit,that I feel shocked,that Dave "passed away" ...,as I didn't know it,at all ...

saw him live, many years ago and even,as he was without the "others",it was a nice gig+ I will always remember him+"this special sound" !!!

    Thanx again+Best Regards !!!

  • dave was a gentleman, just look at his smile, great talent and most underated

  • Thank you for this great video. It's one of my favourite songs. Dave Dee had a lot of great songs.

  • Great song.

They'd never get that whip past the Health and Safety idiots nowadays!!

    Bring back the Sixties!
