I love the new camaros but i do know they have problems, like the interior is crap, like the vettes. Both of which will and should be adressed in the next generations. The camaro makes more hp than a mustang gt 5.0, bu because its so fat and has about 300 more pounds, the mustang will out run it. The next gen camaro will be the best camaro built to date but thats not for a couple of years. The zl1 is a huge jump in everything, but a new style and smaller car will be nice!

oh, and, living here in michigan, this car was perfect because I was the first, at least in my area, to get a 2010 camaro in 2009. and, I got used to it. no rental car compainies, and, here, every other perfon owns a mustang...that isnt exactly "edgy" anymore, either, now, is it?
also, I really think that track had to do alot with it, try a bigger track, then do a review on the new 2012 camaro.
Matt i like you man but i have to ask don't you think you are being too hard on the new camaro? Yes it has its flaws and the chop top takes some getting used to but it really is a great car. I owned one for just under 2 years and can tell you you get used to the top very quickly and i do agree the steering wheel while looked great needed to be changed and they did that in 2012. Its almost like you are going out of you way to be of different opinion because many reviewers loved this car.

@gerrits96 Agreed pretty much, though I'll say: The camaro doesn't need any higher of a roofline, it already sits 5" higher than my 98 camaro. They need to bring the top of the door/fender/dash down to have a taller windows and less tall doors and so you can see out of it. Then they could add seats that are lower/closer to the floor pan... like all the Camaros before it basically. I'm not a fan of the SUV "fat" look. They were going in the right direction with styling though.

I prefer the Mustang, it's quicker, more efficient, has a fucking navigation system, because it's a futuristic sports car. Also, I test drove Camaro's a lot and I had no problem with visibility in the Mustang, the Camaro made me feel on edge with it's poor visibility.
The mustang is the superior performing vehicle and more fuel efficient. Ill still take the camaro. Im in love with the interior with the rally pack and ambient lighting, thats just fucking cool. The camaro is plain better lookign IMO. And honestly with bolt ons, a tune, summer tires, and maybe sways, struts, and coilovers and you could have yourself an M3 killer.
If you want a great stock car and you like ford get the stang. if youre going to mod and prefer GM then why not get the camaro!

My 2010 Jetta TDI Sportwagen had bigger blindspots than the camaro. A 6$ fisheye mirror solves this problem.
How can you say the number of "this" car you see ruins it's styling when you see five times as many Mustangs, yet you still extoll the Ford?
Personally I think that the resurgence of the American Muscle car is awesome, I love them all. We really enjoy our Camaro as our Daily driver, its just plain fun to drive.

The point is for the money (36k) you can get a 135i, Mustang 5.0, 370Z, or others, and in comparison it offers the least satisfaction per dollar. Sure, it has HP, but at 36k there are cars that offer a more complete package; HP, refinement, economy, etc. It's basic economics, and he is absolutely right. And he compared this to a GTI because the GTI held their lap record.

On a larger track, it's interesting how track times change. Check out Car & Driver's Lightning Lap at Virginia International Raceway, for example. The best Volkswagon GTI is #84 on the list, the Camaro SS is #49 - with a 15.6 difference on a 3 to 3-1/2 minute lap track. This track mirrors real world driving much better than this postage stamp sized track this idiot uses.

I think the Camaro SS is one of the worst performance cars ever built. It does nothing well, other than styling. It is significantly slower than the VXR8 it is based on, handles atrociously, has zero visibility, one of the worst interiors this side of a Cobalt and can be easily beaten by the less powerful Mustang GT. Did GM ever once take a step back and realize what a shitty job they did? Yes, but they put it on sale anyway like they did with every other crappy car they have ever produced.

Anyway, the VXR8 and the Commodore are built on the same chassis, so they are hardly different (I am more familiar with the brand Vauxhall rather than Holden). I named attributes it shares with some super cars. Only fools, children or people who have not driven supercars would think that they are perfect or close to perfect. Drive some super cars and you'll know the grass ain't always greener on the other side. Get experience under your belt before debating.

@zarinbals9 if you are "pushing it" on ortega highway then you and/or your car is slow. Any car and driver worth a damn would be going way Way WAY too fast on ortega highway on a hard run. It quite simply would not be safe. Adams is a real track, and I regularly have had the fastest time of the night in my 3rd gen Camaro - 45.5 sec p.r.. So Yes the 5th gen is a huge pig but it really isn't any worse than most of the stock cars I see at the time attack.
I had the chance to push one of these. It pushes in a turn, which is unfortunate. It can be fixed with power. When you're driving hard, you don't always want to be powering through all turns at the brink of powersliding. Maybe they could just leave out the interior and sound deadening material. The car would cost less and go faster....

doesn't come with nav??? ALL camaros come STANDARD with onstar nav. (without a map screen.) . Even with the subscription price, it is alot cheaper than paying for a nav option in most cars. (and it works good, I use it often). Ok, The view out is something you get used to, although I'm only 5'7, so my head isn't into the headliner, and the steering wheel is something you also get used to. (GM is addressing the steering wheel issue for 2012 BTW.) But, I love my SS, it is a great, fun, car.

Just because it's a SS doesn't mean it automatically has a LS3 and 6-speed manual (which by the way is rated at 426* hp)
Can also get the SS in an Auto with a L99.
And if you only get to use 2nd gear on a track...it's too small.

On a larger track, it's interesting how track times change. Check out Car & Driver's Lightning Lap at Virginia International Raceway, for example. The best Volkswagon GTI is #84 on the list, the Camaro SS is #49 - with a 15.6 difference on a 3 to 3-1/2 minute lap track. This track mirrors real world driving much better than this postage stamp sized track this idiot uses.

I think the Camaro SS is one of the worst performance cars ever built. It does nothing well, other than styling. It is significantly slower than the VXR8 it is based on, handles atrociously, has zero visibility, one of the worst interiors this side of a Cobalt and can be easily beaten by the less powerful Mustang GT. Did GM ever once take a step back and realize what a shitty job they did? Yes, but they put it on sale anyway like they did with every other crappy car they have ever produced.

@marshknute its NOT based on the VXR8. Its based off the holden commodore, which is what the VXR8 is based off of. Your argument is completely invalid. The corvette is a shitty car? The ZR1 is curently the 5th fastest production car around the nurburgring in Germany, and when you consider all the Zondas, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Porsches that are out there, its a BIG deal. I completely agree with you, though (in fact, I've been arguing on the Corvette's behalf for quite a while now b/c it is a legendary performance car). Anyway, the VXR8 and the Commodore are built on the same chassis, so they are hardly different (I am more familiar with the brand Vauxhall rather than Holden). This video was harsh, yet truthful about the Camaro.

Supercars that everyone is drooling over have the same exact problem, but nobody mentions that elephant in the room. The Camaro is the perfect way for many average people to experience what a supercar is like. It looks great from the outside, its loud, low visibility, a bitch to park and been shown on a very popular movie.

Leather doesn't make a perfect car. Any automotive enthusiast would be able to tell you a lot of high performance supercars are great, but have many flaws, expensive ones at that. Drive some super cars and you'll know the grass ain't always greener on the other side. Get experience under your belt before debating.

Take it on some real roads like the 74 Ortega highway and that thing handles! Trust me because I own a 2010 Camaro SS, and I was doing 70mph the whole time on Ortega highway with fucked up tires! @zarinbals9 if you are "pushing it" on ortega highway then you and/or your car is slow. Any car and driver worth a damn would be going way Way WAY too fast on ortega highway on a hard run. It quite simply would not be safe. Adams is a real track, and I regularly have had the fastest time of the night in my 3rd gen Camaro - 45.5 sec p.r.. So Yes the 5th gen is a huge pig but it really isn't any worse than most of the stock cars I see at the time attack.

I had the chance to push one of these. It pushes in a turn, which is unfortunate. It can be fixed with power. When you're driving hard, you don't always want to be powering through all turns at the brink of powersliding. Maybe they could just leave out the interior and sound deadening material. The car would cost less and go faster....

i thought this test was pretty stupid...was that a fucking go kart track? and im sorry, but he lost my respect when he compared the camaro to the GTI on a track like this...that might be the most unfair comparison ive seen yet...also, i test drove the SS in a manual and i didnt find the clutch unforgiving to any significance...it was actually one of the smoothest ive driven...then again i didnt take it down to the go cart track behind our local ice cream shop

doesn't come with nav??? ALL camaros come STANDARD with onstar nav. (without a map screen.) . Even with the subscription price, it is alot cheaper than paying for a nav option in most cars. (and it works good, I use it often). Ok, The view out is something you get used to, although I'm only 5'7, so my head isn't into the headliner, and the steering wheel is something you also get used to. (GM is addressing the steering wheel issue for 2012 BTW.) But, I love my SS, it is a great, fun, car.

But paying 10000 dollars more and having twice as much horsepower the Camaro should be able to run any track faster. Besides, the whole video wasn't a comparison of the Camaro with anything, well, maybe with the Mustang, it was a review of the car. And by saying he was right I meant every down side he pointed out was very precise.

I agree about the blind spots, but using rear view mirror is an interesting concept. Try it. The other personal opinions should be left for reviewing movies, not cars.
It does ultimately come down to personal preferences. There is probably no review that would make me want to own a Mustang, or a Mopar heep.
Not a fanboy here. Just really love my Camaro.
