  • cool

  • What bass do you play?

  • @WFCxAntihero It’s a Dean Edge 6.

  • @AstAMoore nicee

  • Wow, this sounded amazing!

  • @trudbol Thank you, Julien!

  • I really like your way of playing. It's so smooth. May I ask which effects you used here? I love the intro. I can play it til 0:30, but I would like to learn the rest aswell (it's a bit hard for me to do everything by ear). Is it possible that you might send me a tab from the intro? I really love it.

Anyways, this is a fantastic piece of art and I hope you'll make more of those (tapping) songs. =)

  • @shalis16 Thank you. Effects-wise, I think I answered it somewhere in the comments already. Check them out.

I don’t have the tabs for this song. In fact, I don’t use or make tabs for my music. Just keep working on it and you’ll eventually figure it out. It’s not a particularly difficult piece.

    Good luck!

  • YOU ARE A LEGEND

  • best bass tapping video i've seen. thanks!

  • Wow nice work :)

  • what is DAW?

  • @micmoable DAW stands for Digital Audio Workstation.

  • reminds me a little of Jeff Berlin's style

  • That's some good shit my friend.

  • that was beautiful

  • First I would say - you are a guitarist right ? If not - then you should be. Second - how do you get such pristine studio quality sound onto a youtube video - because as you may well know - most of the videos sound like complete crap - whereas your video is like listening to a satriani CD. It is that good.

Basically what kind of equipment do you use. Would be appreciative of a basic explanation - and you would be drastically improving others - videos - if they followed suit.

  • @hesellsmystuff Thanks for your kind words. I do play the guitar, as well—check out my other videos.

Yes, high quality is key. This particular song is available for download from several music stores, so naturally it's studio-quality.

Equipment-wise, I simply don't use the camera's built-in microphone for recording instruments. The signal goes into the DAW, then I process it like I normally would any studio recording, and then use that as an audio track for the video I upload.

  • Reminds me of the G3 version of "I know you're here" by Steve Vai for some reason, do you listen to him and parhaps got some inspiration from him?

    Very good job!

  • Thanks. I don't know that particular song, unfortunately. Is it fairly recent? I used to listen to Steve Vai a few years ago. He's an extremely talented composer, arranger, musician, and producer.

  • @AstAMoore

I dont know if its recent, but its very nice! Check it out on youtube! It has a lot in common with your song!

  • wow this blew me away! I'll be purchasing this now. Just Brilliant!

  • @JordanTheBeast ARE YOU A PUBLISHER?

  • Wow. That is just.......wow! That was an incredibly beautiful melody, sir. I am humbled by your skill and the feeling with which you play. I aspire to play this well. Give me about another 20 years, and I may get there! I thoroughly enjoyed this.

  • Thank you for your kind words, Christopher.

  • do you reccommend this bass?

  • Yes, definitely and wholeheartedly. It's a very good instrument.

  • Very nice. I like the higher register stuff.... great sound for that stuff for sure.

    Nice work.

  • Amazing...nice Tops, i heard some of the stuffs from stuart ham (flow my tears ; the policeman said) you made a unique one....keep it up!

  • great song man. really amazing playing

  • Could you make some tabs please?

    cause thats inspiring!

  • Are you tuned in the 6string standard?

Im very interested in getting a 6 string :)

    Great playing by the way.

  • Thanks. Yes, it's tuned BEADGC.

  • how much is a bass like that?

  • i got a low end 6 string of e-bay for £120 quid. it does the job.

the ibanez btb goes for around the £500 mark. its bloody good

  • Nice. Very musical. Pretty.

  • Do you by any chance play Chapmanstick?

  • No, but I've heard other people play it, and it sure looks like a lot of fun. I considered getting one at some point, but the prices are just way too steep for me.

  • Hey AstA, sounds great :) I love the effects!

Are we going to see any new videos? Hope so... :)

    Smaz - playbassnow :)

  • Hi,

Thanks for the comments. Funny you should ask, because I am, indeed, thinking of making another video. It might come as a surprise for some people, though. I'm going to perform one of my older tunes. Stay tuned.

  • awsome dude

im considering buying this or a ESP LTD B-206

either way i doubt ill sound as good as you for quite some time

  • yeah he's right, the Dean Q6 is far better, and i think they're near enough the same price? I have an esp c305, and it sounds great and it's solid as can be, but the action and intonation are always playing havoc with me and restringing that bastard bridge is a nightmare, just bought a q6 and it's :O I always loved EMG Hzs... just brilliant

  • Yes, the Edge 6 is an all around great instrument. As for the ESP C305, while I've never played it myself, I've heard many positive comments about it. I'm sure it's a nice instrument. If only it had six strings. ;) Sorry to hear about your action/intonation problems.

  • ahaha cheers, sorry i didnt comment on your brilliant piece btw, well done ! =]

btw you DID hear good stuff about the espc305?i havent! i havent heard anything!i cant find any others or reviews anywhere!lol

  • Thanks for the comment on my song. Glad you like it.

Re the ESP, a few people I know have it and are generally happy about. There were also very positive comments on ZZSounds and Harmony Central.

  • Check out the Ibanez Sr 506 too, I love that thing.

  • The SR506 is an excellent instrument, no doubt.

  • Killer sound killer playing!!!!

    Enough said!!!

  • Thank you!

  • it sounds very beautiful

im going to buy one soon

that exact kind and color too

    =]

  • Thanks. I hope you'll enjoy your Dean Edge 6 as much as I'm enjoying mine. I don't think the color affects the sound very much, though. ;)

  • yeah but the color is amazing one of the coolest I've come to see on a guitar

  • моя в немом восторге ! =)))

    СПАСИБО!

  • Дык, эта, на здоровье. ;)

  • Very nice composition and execution! Can you tell me what effects and settings you're using here?

  • Thanks for the comment. I actually use a somewhat complicated setup here. It involves splitting the input signal in two and processing each split signal independently. I use a slight pitch modulation effect on one channel and a flanger on the other. Then each channel is routed through a dedicated delay effect with slightly different settings. Then I mix them together and apply some reverb. I use no compression (except for the post processing of the final mix of the song).

  • What are u using to split the signal in 2? A split chord or a signal splitter? If its a signal splitter what type is it? I run a stereo set up(guitar) but use a stero chrous to split the signal and can't have independant chorus in the chain.

  • For this particular song I did almost all processing in Guitar Rig: splitting, modulation, flanger, and delay. Guitar Rig allows for a great flexibility in signal routing.

  • Душевная музыка. Молодец :)

  • Спасибо!

  • very nice! :-)

  • Thanks. I'm checking out your songs.

  • beautiful stuff man! this was really inspiring... such pretty chords and tasteful tapping.

  • Thank you very much!

  • Wow dude! Simply amazing.

(btw Loganator456 from the Dean Forum)

  • Thank you, Logan!

  • I'm one of those guys who normally shitcans people cause they upload crappy things, but that was nice. Good job. I just ordered a 6 string, and after watching a few videos on youtube I was regretting not just getting a 5 string. This made me happy with my decision again.

  • Thanks for the comment! I'm glad my little video made you happy.

  • Very nice man. I really enjoyed listening to this. It is now in my favorites.

  • Thank you!

  • What's Stanley Jordan doing in St. Petersburg!?

  • Heh. He's just visiting. He might stay for a while, if he likes it here, though.

  • Whoa! Thank you so very much for such kind words! I'm flattered by the comparison with Tommy Emmanuel and equally honored to reside in the same folder with Victor Wooten. I just hope he won't mind. And thank you again!

  • Really nice playing, sir!

  • Thank you!

  • Beautiful stuff. You took me for a ride and I thank you.

  • We aim to please. ;) Thank you for the comment, Randy.

  • Спасибо! Да, музыка собственного "приготовления."

  • Коту тоже понравилось :)
