I really like your way of playing. It's so smooth. May I ask which effects you used here? I love the intro. I can play it til 0:30, but I would like to learn the rest aswell (it's a bit hard for me to do everything by ear). Is it possible that you might send me a tab from the intro? I really love it.
Anyways, this is a fantastic piece of art and I hope you'll make more of those (tapping) songs. =)
@shalis16 Thank you. Effects-wise, I think I answered it somewhere in the comments already. Check them out.
I don’t have the tabs for this song. In fact, I don’t use or make tabs for my music. Just keep working on it and you’ll eventually figure it out. It’s not a particularly difficult piece.
First I would say - you are a guitarist right ? If not - then you should be. Second - how do you get such pristine studio quality sound onto a youtube video - because as you may well know - most of the videos sound like complete crap - whereas your video is like listening to a satriani CD. It is that good.
Basically what kind of equipment do you use. Would be appreciative of a basic explanation - and you would be drastically improving others - videos - if they followed suit.
@hesellsmystuff Thanks for your kind words. I do play the guitar, as well—check out my other videos.
Yes, high quality is key. This particular song is available for download from several music stores, so naturally it's studio-quality.
Equipment-wise, I simply don't use the camera's built-in microphone for recording instruments. The signal goes into the DAW, then I process it like I normally would any studio recording, and then use that as an audio track for the video I upload.
Thanks. I don't know that particular song, unfortunately. Is it fairly recent? I used to listen to Steve Vai a few years ago. He's an extremely talented composer, arranger, musician, and producer.
Wow. That is just.......wow! That was an incredibly beautiful melody, sir. I am humbled by your skill and the feeling with which you play. I aspire to play this well. Give me about another 20 years, and I may get there! I thoroughly enjoyed this.
No, but I've heard other people play it, and it sure looks like a lot of fun. I considered getting one at some point, but the prices are just way too steep for me.
Thanks for the comments. Funny you should ask, because I am, indeed, thinking of making another video. It might come as a surprise for some people, though. I'm going to perform one of my older tunes. Stay tuned.
yeah he's right, the Dean Q6 is far better, and i think they're near enough the same price? I have an esp c305, and it sounds great and it's solid as can be, but the action and intonation are always playing havoc with me and restringing that bastard bridge is a nightmare, just bought a q6 and it's :O I always loved EMG Hzs... just brilliant
Yes, the Edge 6 is an all around great instrument. As for the ESP C305, while I've never played it myself, I've heard many positive comments about it. I'm sure it's a nice instrument. If only it had six strings. ;) Sorry to hear about your action/intonation problems.
Thanks for the comment. I actually use a somewhat complicated setup here. It involves splitting the input signal in two and processing each split signal independently. I use a slight pitch modulation effect on one channel and a flanger on the other. Then each channel is routed through a dedicated delay effect with slightly different settings. Then I mix them together and apply some reverb. I use no compression (except for the post processing of the final mix of the song).
What are u using to split the signal in 2? A split chord or a signal splitter? If its a signal splitter what type is it? I run a stereo set up(guitar) but use a stero chrous to split the signal and can't have independant chorus in the chain.
For this particular song I did almost all processing in Guitar Rig: splitting, modulation, flanger, and delay. Guitar Rig allows for a great flexibility in signal routing.
I'm one of those guys who normally shitcans people cause they upload crappy things, but that was nice. Good job. I just ordered a 6 string, and after watching a few videos on youtube I was regretting not just getting a 5 string. This made me happy with my decision again.
Whoa! Thank you so very much for such kind words! I'm flattered by the comparison with Tommy Emmanuel and equally honored to reside in the same folder with Victor Wooten. I just hope he won't mind. And thank you again!
cool

Reminds me of the G3 version of "I know you're here" by Steve Vai for some reason, do you listen to him and parhaps got some inspiration from him?
Very good job!
