The first time I heard AFI was off there Retrospective album. Since back then before 2006 I just was hooked on all there stuff. There is no shitty AFI song. There stuff from 2006 and present isn't the same but at least all for members are in the band still and I will follow them till the end!!! AFI for Life!
this is the band that made me my taste in music and kinda thrust me deeper into underground stuff. i miss this band so much but artist change and i loved decemberunderground and crash love but i will always love the fall children and art of drowning (still my fav cd ever). despair faction for life lls
I remember going to AFI shows back in the day all the time. The first one I ever went to was on this tour and almost identical to this set. They were out of this world at that time. It was almost like a religious experience then. The energy, the love, the aggression was ridiculous. And Davey was like the preacher. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I am so very thankful that I was there at this time. It changed my life.
@Kevinblomgren Totally agree, I saw them around the release of Art of Drowning and couldn't have said it better ;) I guess we should consider ourselves lucky!
Thanks for posting this vid I was at this show when I was 16 one of if not the best shows I have ever been too the energy in such a small venue ...pretty sweet to relive such a fond memory
I just don't understand why don't they play these songs live anymore... they just stick with Girl's not Grey, Miss Murder, Leaving song pt 2 and some other shitty ones. Clearly these songs have the most energy and from the looks of it are fun to play... yet they still play the songs that they hate playing. I know that Davey had vocal surgery, but still I'm pretty sure he can pull off most of AOD. BSITS and SYMOYE are a little harder to sing.
@Dustin795 - I totally agree with you. I look at it this way. Keep in my mind what you see in this video is the band 10 years ago - at a time when they were still 'underground'. Now that the band has a more maintream, commercial audience if they played these songs & performed them the way they do in this video - I'm sure they OR their mgt might feel it would frighten away some of that new audience. I worked in the industry for many years & trust those things are considerations.
it also has a lot to do with them growing as people and musicians... no matter how good the songs are, it'd get really boring playing the same songs every night for years. you'd want to play your new songs.
@Dustin795 That's what I always say, but honestly if he did sing them he would probably put no effort into them because apparently he doesn't want to sing those wo's( or however you spell it lol) anymore. :(
they just played nyquil on the crash love tour
they have been playing alot off of very proud of ya
they band hasnt changed
they express a different side of themselves with every record
davey has been talking about glam rock since the beginning
crash love is the glam record
this is a great video btw

@RobbMetalWorks wasn't a little while after the AOD that davey had vocal nods? that could be why he dosent play to many of these songs also..

@Dustin795
Well they played a great deal of those old songs on their last tour which just ended
sure they could play old songs everyday, but then it wouldnt be as special when they did
they would get old just like girls not grey
and the cold hard truth is that they cannot do that every night for years at a time
plus the recording process to those albums, and the relentless touring with those songs, kinda made the band not like them anymore
canesrule96 1 year ago
@canesrule96 hearing any of these songs at any show would be a god send.these songs deserve it.they never get old.
