  • Thank you for your advice. Actually, I have been trying to kick from my calves as I thought that is the starting point of lower body swing(leg). Can you explain more about kicking from thighs? My idea, king from calves comes from TI training book but it is possible that I misundertand it. Thank you!

  • Also, there are knee-brace-like products that will keep your knees in place and prevent you from kicking from your calves (try the Kicking Coach or something similar; they are pretty cheap). In general a more fluid kick will help your speed a lot and make you feel stronger in the water. Your body position looks good, very nice roll -- I can tell you are trying hard. Good luck and have fun! =)

  • I am not a TI expert (I primarily teach early developmental skills and learn-to-swim), but in this video it looks like your left arm may be going too deep. Try to focus on reaching out, not down. It also looks like you are kicking from your calves, rather than your thighs. Think small, fast kicks from the upper part of your leg; there shouldn't be too much net vertical movement of your legs. If you invest in some fins, that will force you to use the correct parts of your legs.
