@oOfekiOo well, they're not ALL like that, but onboard the ship, there is quite a bit of officers/pilots who have that attitude. they call the regular enlisted guys TED (typical enlisted dude) or more often "rats". they tend to make an excuse that they're "just tyring to toughen up the guys", but it really is just a bunch of snobbyness/stomping on ppl who are lower down in the system just so that it brightens up THEIR day. makes em feel good I guess. at the same time, they're not all like that.

I would understand in a high alert level using blackout, But can some one explain why that deck isnt bright as day, the same in the desert you point lights down and across to not blind the pilots. I mean you are in the middle of the ocean with other ships nearby so its not like something is going to sneak up on you.

Anyone knows if the pilot beds are just as small as the rest of the crew? And just as small rooms and lockers? Well at least the pilots can eat at the officer galley.

How's the shift rotations? 12 hours on and 12 hours off or?

Pilots also get to fly the most advance fighter jet the US Military has to offer. I think that is something they can brag about because i wish i could fly the F/A-18 Super Hornet and soon the F/A-35 Lighting

I have seen that female pilot in another documentary (I think it was called Speed and Angels) about fighter pilots in the Navy. She was talking about a simulated missile Kill. Just the way she said "Fox 2! Huh? You like that?" Nothing against her skill and professionalism, but "she could be my wingman anytime."

The real threat isn't light, it's pitch. The ship is moving up and down and side to side in weird patterns. Time it wrong and that ship that was low in the water has now just now rolled and moved up three or four stories (30+ feet). No fixin' that! Your dead! With or without light this is scary thought.

They (we) don't use lights because of two main reasons. First, we are a combat ship and we don't want the enemy to be able to spot us. And second, because it messes up your night vision.

I was an AO (Aviation Ordnanceman). I worked in the weapons elevators dept. (G4). We took the bombs/missiles from inside the ship to the flight deck. Are you thinking about going in?

Yeah it was a cool job. I miss being out to sea on something as massive as a carrier. I use to love to see the deep bright blue water way out in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. At night, some parts of the ocean would glow with this neon green "glow in the dark" algae that would light up the ocean behind our ship. Really cool stuff.

It doesn't really matter how elite they are. The ready room is not a frat house, or club. It's simply an area for briefing events. If SEALs are going to be utilized during the event, then they will likely have some time in the briefing room.
