  • The race was so close that at this point nobody (except possibly the drivers themselves) knew the outcome. In those days, there was only one division, and every driver built their own racer from scratch, not from a kit. I am not sure but the odds are good that the cars we can glimpse at the very beginning, on the truck, would be the other six cars of the racers who placed 4th through 9th, as their last heats would have just concluded. Again, thank you for bringing back these memories!

  • @MidOhioBass You are right. I briefly see my car, the blue one at the front of the truck. I placed 7th. Does anyone have any other footage of this race?

    For those who may not realize what this historic Akron moment is:

    It's the three finalists in 1975 just after crossing the finish line, braking to a stop. 11-year-old Karen Stead of Bucks County (Morristown) PA became the first girl EVER to win the All-American, just edging out 14-year-old Lloyd Watson of Salem, Oregon and 11-year-old Damon Papuga of Boston.
